Right now I have an indoor/outdoor micro heli the walkera cb100. I want to move up to CP and fly outside in some wind. I don't mind handling the small parts and building things up, but I'm just wondering what you would suggest my next step be to learn CP the 250 or the 450 ? I hear the 450's are a lot more stable but I don't have a large field to fly in so the 250 was appealing to me.
The 250 and 450 both require about the same space for a given skill level. As you can see in this video, it's pretty quick, and you need skill to fly it in a smaller area. The 450 is also easier to set up and more tolerant of errors.
This was done with the stock stuff and Align 850mAh battery. I've since changed to the 16T pinion and it seems a little more punchy, but I would like a bit more power.
5 stars just for being a cool mom. my mom never did anything this cool with me when i was a teen. her hobby was real estate- nice for the pocket but not a lot of Wow factor
Yeah I grew up with this. My parents were both into aviation, and my gramma worked at Skunk Works. So we have a long family history of playing with aircraft :)
@jasmine2501 I agree, the CF blades do wake the 250 up. Another one to try is the Stealth CF . They are 2g lighter per blade than the Align 205Ds and they really do make the cyclic faster. They're buy one set for $11.99 get one for $.99 at Heli Direct so you can't go too far wrong. Another thing to try is the Flying Sport 3d paddle set. They also make a huge difference in cyclic speed. With all these things together my 250 is pretty quick. The last thing for me will be a bit more power.
What do you suppose the ground speed of that thing is in miles per hour?

@siegelsdad We measured it at 43 mph with a radar gun.

What motor, pinion and batts are you using on this?

Perhaps you should try the Scorpion 3900KV motor with the 16T. you will feel the difference. Very cool flying by the way! :-)

Thanks :)
I was thinking about that one. I have an ARC motor I'm supposed to be testing, but I can't find the right pinion for it.

what kinda blades are you using?

I use the 205D carbon fiber blades. After trying the CF blades, the stock blades feel really mushy...
