@crazyncman have you used a gopro while playing a game? I'm looking into both, and I'm wondering what the pros and cons are for both of them.

@ArmyBoyMP13 No I have not used one but they look to bulky and I hate the fisheye lens. Contour is the way to go for airsoft.

@crazyNCman Well my buddy has a GoPro and he uses it mainly for mountain biking, but we have yet to use it for airsoft. He has a helmet mount and a chesty rig, and it's ok. Not to terribly heavy. But I was wondering if you've been able to compare the two. Appreciate the help though.

Contour is better than GoPro. But, because GoPro has commercials, they dominate the market.

@clubzen no, these do not have good audio. None of the action sport cams have good audio.

I think it would be an interesting view if someone were to mount the camera on an offset rail near the rear of the weapon.

Contour cameras are perfect for airsoft if you ask me. They're -one- of the cheapest for what you get, they have way better options for orientating the camera itself as well as the angle of the shot, and the audio is reasonable (especially compared to GoPros and their cases that muffle sound really well).

You also change exposure settings and such in the same menu.. Sorry for double post. Tools--> Camera Configuration... Then adjust what you need to.

You can adjust what each setting on the camera does.. Like you can set the HIgh Position to 1080p or any of the 4 other settings.. Same for the Lo... You use the software to adjust it in the tools menu... That way you can have 1080p or 720p settings on the fly.

Go pro sounds nice, but the shape of this camera is why I want it. Go pro looks kind of goofy on a MICH helmet or gun.

go pro is more for extreme sports, like motocross... thats why i bought mine... contour i all right for airsoft though..

Personally, I love my GoPro for motocross. I've saw videos of guys using this camera for moto and on the landings of jumps it was almost like the shock causes a gap in the record so there was a second of blackness, and also I don't like the camera lens angle (135 degrees make jumps look smaller than they are, but for airsoft it seems perfect). One thing I really like about this camera is the record button and also you can't beat the price! GoPros are quite pricey, especially the optional mounts!

it looks like the newer ones are getting better and better. mine is a 1080p but older so the rotating lens is not as solid. I put a rubberband on mine to keep it from rattling. as for the lens protector, I dont even use them (i have my own made up rig) because mine has broken before, but maybe they are stronger on the newer ones.

You will be happier with this than the Tachyon, I have had the chance to use both and the Contour quality is much better, and at the prices now, it is a real bargain.

@crazyNCman The only complaint that I came up with. When mounted to the goggle strap, your goggle strap has to be very tight, or it will flop around on you. I use mine in conjunction with a Protec Helmet, so it is very tight, but when used without a helmet, the weight of camera can be too much for some straps to keep it stable.

My Canon camera is getting old, would you recommend getting one of these to replace it? I basically only use my camera for occasional political and airsoft stuff.

i just checked out the price of this camera. its such a great buy. if you try to buy the same camera at a store or other websites, it goes for $200 to $250. And the contour isn't just used for airsofting, you can film yourself kayaking, surfing snowboarding, maintain biking ect.

@Mushlife113 I am not 100% sure but they probably will. They have a clear plastic cover you can get for this, it'll protect it from BB's.

@Mushlife113 People have told me it will stand up to a bb but it has not been hit while I have been using it. The lenses are pretty cheap to replace.
