I love Sam's voice...but I dont think this song shouldve been sped up...the slowness is its strength...but Sam's vocal from 1:55-2:00 is superb...if Nat added that, it'd be simply wonderful. Nat gave this song a wonderful touch....Sam's rushing through a love song...I say this as a 100% die hard Cooke fan...to me Nat's was better...
Who else can get away with a song with so many, I Love YOUs. and still make it sound so beautiful and romantic. I never get bored with any of Sam Cooke's songs. Thank you so much for posting.
Only very few have been blessed to inherit those extra special vocals that can calm the most severe storm... Sam Cooke is undoubtedly one of those rare few. I just can't feel any otha way, but he's just the GREATEST musician of all-time to me. I haven't forgotten about the otha legends, but there's just nothin that can sway me to believe that any otha was as ill as the soulful Sam Cooke. RIP Sam.
this song is like a romantic song u wud hear at a school dance in the 1950s. everytime i hear it, i vision teens at a school dance, waltzing to this song. idk y. lol=-)
linus's sister- it was a minor miracle that i caught your text i was going to say that is a true classic comment ,then i read the rest,im not really a cat person isnt it funny how some people react differently to dogs and cats, however,i know the pain of losing a living being that was close to you . thats young i had a cousin thats cat must have been 25 or some wild age, and i am such a total agnostic that i couldnt help any more or less if it was a child or parent, but for what it's see pers rep
This may sound weird, but I used to sing this to my cat. I just loved saying I love you so much. She just passed away this past Friday morning, and my heartbroken. I loved her with all my heart. She was 11 and my special, beautiful baby.
among us in the here and now and known world, i wish i could give you a big hug and say its such a huge miricle that anything is here at all, who's to say after all of us animals die there wont be an even bigger one, hopefully your pain has abated somewhat and you hearing this song especially if it was random is some sort of message to morn yes but also have joy that out of all the billion or so cats you got Her for 11 years and she had you i remember several dogs its bittersweet but more sweet H
H, Thank you for your kind words. It's now been two months, and I still feel the sharp pain of loss. For some, grief recovery takes longer than others, and I guess I'm one of them. Bless you.
Entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 on 12-30-1958, it peaked at No. 17 and spent 11 weeks in the Top 100...
The flip side of this record also charted, "Desire Me", it reached #47..
On 02-15-1947 the King Cole Trio's version reached #1 {for 1 week} and spent 12 weeks on Billboard's Best Sellers chart..
Also in 1947 three other versions made the Top 10; Eddy Howard {#6}, Dinah Shore {#6}, Charlie Spivak {#7}...
In 1961 the doo-wop group The Cleftones took their version to #60...
