Really? That's great! I was using that program also.

That program comes with so many projects & its

quick and easy to do. :) But dude, you must have

interchange its name. Here's the correct one:

    TopWoodWorking.info

  • It's wonderful, thank you for the video.

  • Fire is the the master key to all such locks. >:)

  • You did a good job there my friend. It's a great novelty, and I'm gonna make me one for my tool-chest! Problem is, a wooden lock isn't very thief-proof; about as much use as a chocolate teapot, shall we ay? But it's a nice exercise. Also I can now say that something useless, is about as much good as a wooden lock! Just joshin'. I like it and I really am going to make one.! Thanks.

    Woodrow Lister

  • Great video ! Many thanks from St. Augustine Florida

  • JUST SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER why bother puting a lock

  • @AtomFA

Well you can get past the best of metal padlocks with a pair of bolt-croppers! So for a bit of fun, why not make a wooden lock?

  • Very cool. Now, for an extra bit of challenge: lock the key in the chest and pick the lock with a toothpick :D

  • I went to my local library today for Tim detwiler's book. I photo copied the project I wanted and whipped one out in a couple hours! Thanks for the idea! Gonna make a great Christmas gift!

  • it hurts my ears when he says the letter "s"

  • @petertheawsome1 He needs to run the audio through an equalizer and turn down the 4, 8, and 16 KHz (also known as the highs, or Treble)

  • So simple and so neat! I like it!

  • O MY COW! YOUR AUSTRALIAN!

    OHH COW I AM TOO!

  • Poofteenth!??! AAHGHGHAHAHGAHAHAHAHAHAHA *dies with laughter* I've never heard that one mate. Brilliant.

    It looks awesome too.

  • Lovely!

  • Nice!

  • Universal key for all wooden locks: Blowtorch!

  • what if you lock the key inside the box 0_0

  • O.O freeekin A!!!!!

  • But will it blend?

  • Great videos, thank you

  • that video was annoying

  • Good lock and a great looking box as well

  • can it be picked?

  • @visnu1081 By the looks of its simplicity, it can easily be picked.

  • @visnu1081 Yup, with wooden lockpick.

  • @visnu1081 Just saw through it............

  • @visnu1081 i wud use a lighter :3

  • Can u pm the plans for the wooden lock so i can make my own at home

  • @SFRNSD : I don't provide plans for this lock. Its copyrighted as outlined on the video info

  • @SFRNSD There are free wooden lock plans available online, if you look.

  • To everyone asking for free plans, Scrollsaw Workshop has some : watch?v=MEW__gYuXn4

Anyone looking to build a lock definatly purchase one of Tim's books. I have both of them, they have plans for 10 working locks over the course of 2 books.

Adrian, I will be building my first lock soon. Tim recommends Ash for the spring, but it looks as if you used the same timber as the main body, what type was it?

  • @guerd87 : I live in Australia and the timbers available here are limited compared to the USA. However I used walnut for the spring. But I have used all sorts of hard-ish wood for the spring in various locks and they all work fine.

  • @guerd87 why dont you photocopy the plans in the book and put them as a video so we can print screen it and copy

  • @phunkyphantom619 Why dont you go to your local library and borrow the book. Or better yet, go and buy the book online? Why dont you think of your own plans? Ohh its too hard? - exactly! Thats why people need to be paid for their ideas and for publishing good content, because its worth it.

  • 2:38 , can you use this for another thing? XD

  • whats a spring lever?

  • @cyrusrom : A piece of wood is the spring

  • Wow you made tine!

  • 1 person tried to make it and failed

  • @masterofcats12 : For something that requires exactness like this, you either have to draw one in CAD or buy plans for the lock. Good on you for trying though.

  • @adrianiredale that was for the one disliker

  • this is awesome i want to build one even though it can be easily be broken in to its an awesome piece of art

  • @loku1125 I don't think anyone would think a wooden lock is hard to open, they are decorative (looking a lot better then one of the metal padlocks)

  • See the video description details for where to buy the lock plans

  • how must i draw or have u website for it? for images?

  • @hackalles3 : See the video description details for where to buy the lock plans

  • any way i can buy the lock and box for my son and it arrive befor christmas

  • lol, read the captions, google doesn't understand ozzie (I think) accents

  • why didnt you show us u ever opening the lock with the key

  • @XxpivotxxmasterxX : See my "How to make a wooden box" video for the finished product being used.

  • They say wooden lock and or wooden box + fire = bye bye lock and box, but they don't think, bye bye treasure as well.

  • This is awesome! You are awesome! This lock is awesome!

  • sweet

  • Great video, and to everyone begging for plans...if you cant figure out how to build it from the video, you wont be able to build it accurate even if you have plans. this is the sorta thing that needs time and cant just be thrown together in a few minutes.

  • @therealandycook : You are right. It takes me about 4 hrs to build a lock. If you buy the book of plans, and then have a working knowledge of CAD, you can shrink the large plans down to this size.

  • thts awsome and if yall need instructions why dont yall watch the vid again and write the instrutions rite after thts what i did with the box

  • sweet!

  • Best video I've seen.

  • hey i dont have money to spend but im really into locks and i was wondering if you knew a place where i could get instructions for that lock for free?

  • @quintonio1000 - No - sorry ...

  • @adrianiredale -it's all good maybe i can make my own plans

  • @quintonio1000 i made a lock and it works really good!! =)

  • pueez can u snd my a copy of the plans

    my email ins dustinkwongny@yahoo.com

    pueez

  • @yoyohoes. I cannot give you the plans as they are proprietary. See the video details for the author of the plans and how to buy them.

  • where do you find the sketches to the lock?

  • @pitut12

The plans are from a book I purchased. I've given the details on the video ...

  • This is amazing... you ought to make more videos =)

  • anywhere i can get the template for this for free?

  • @rat1a1tat1tat

Sorry - don't know of a free plan for this lock. Some things are worth buying though ...

  • I haven't even gotten my Mission clock to work yet and now I have to do this cause it's so cool! Something else to make me pull my hair out! Thanks Adrian you sadistic Aussie!

  • you are the God

  • good vid! It reminded me that somewhere I have a book on making wood locks. One of these days I might just try one. Thanks for sharing!!
