The only Christians with valid Communion are Catholic and Orthodox Christians. The Orthodox are permitted to take Communion at Catholic Churches and vice versa, but neither permits protestants/evangelicals.
It is not a symbol, but the real body of Christ. If you go to Holy Mass every day, you can consume it, if you are in state of grace. If you eat it in mortal sin, you are eating your own condemnation. Pax Christi.

When receiving the host you are not suppose to be holding other things.
