Notice that the first we see of Charlotte here is her feet and legs on the stairs - and later, after she's cured and is on the ship gangplank, we again see her similarly. Only this time, she's turned into Bette Davis, glamorous movie star. And it's a wonderful, amusing, Hollywood moment.
