  • Who the hell disliked this video?

The only bad thing is that you forgot the Puckett game six HR in the 1991 WS...

  • What a guy. Twins ftw.

  • The Twins World Series is effin sweet

  • ever hear his call of the '86 game 6 ending on radio?

he sounded like he was disappointed that the red sox lost, compared to game #1

in '88 it really is obvious.

he was a small-market homer and a bully who called out before they happened and several times he was embarrassed because the out wasn't made.

being a mouthpiece for the white rat was his lowest ebb.

  • I'm going to Mizzou for the J School studying Radio/Television Journalism. I hope to be half the sportscaster Jack Buck was.

  • Like others who have commented, I also grew up with Jack Buck. It was a sad day for me when he died. I will always remember him.

  • I grew up listening to Jack Buck. This montage brings many a smile to my face and many a tear to my eye. He was the best.

  • Was never a big baseball fan, so I never heard him announce Card games. Absolutely loved when he did NFL football with, Hank Stram though. IMHO, there has never been nor ever will be, a better tandem than those two. They are broadcasting legends, in every true sense of the word. I really do miss them. R.I.P., gentlemen.

  • Thank sheezus that the MLB dorks haven't taken this down. Man, how did Neidenfuer last all those years. Regular season, post-season, blech. Joe Buck is fair, but most of the time seems half awake. But I wouldn't want him to sound like his dad. Different styles make them unique.

  • What kind of pitch is that in the beginning?

  • Jack Buck, Vin Sculley, Jon Miller & Chuck Thompson were simply amazing. They don't make announcers like them anymore.

  • @TheMadStork83 what about ernie harwell, you forgot about him

  • @vabangers1 Not a big fan of him.

  • only one of his great calls was missing. on the kirby puckett game 6 homer. "and....we'll see you tomorrow night."

  • if he was still alive, he would slap his son on his face

  • SAT analogy answer: Joe Buck:Jack Buck as Chris Wallace:Mike Wallace

  • 2:59 Wow, he didn't even say the play he just said the Twins have Won.....and sounded great.

  • Awesome! Thanks for putting this together!

  • "This is gonna be a home run!" I always thought was so much more powerful than the "I don't believe what I just saw" quote

  • Thanks for the upload man!

  • I always felt sad, because I knew the night was over, when Jack said, "and so long for just a while."

  • AND We'll See you Tomorrow Night!

  • maybe his best call

  • You can tell how much he loved this game by his passionate calls......WE MISS YOU JACK!

  • joe buck sucks, he's so boring :|, I wish Jack could do the calls now for Fox...go Yankees! :D

  • It would be easy but Jack is gone forever. Man, show some respect for his son, Joe's not that bad.

  • Joe Buck is ok, Jack was AWESOME, oh and Yankees suck.... well, if they didn't buy their Workd Series every year they would lol

  • so when the Red Sox buy a World Series with Ortiz, Manny, Schilling, Becket, Mike Lowell, Kevin Folk, and Pedro just because they sucked for 86 years it's ok and everyone loves them, but when the Yankees get free agents its the worst thing in baseball. And Joe Buck sucks, if a player hit a grandslam in the bottom of the ninth, in game 7 of the world series he'd sound as excited as commenting on someone buying fruit at a supermarket. the only reason he has a job is because of his dad.

  • I agree with you on the Red Sox and Joe having a job because of his dad no argument here. But free agents? Yankees buy it all man you have got to know that. Do you not even know how much AssRod is making or CC Sabathia? I may not be making sense I'm very tired I'm just writing my opinions and what I see and read about is all. We are all entitled to that much :)

  • yes I agree Arod and CC get way too much money, which I don't like, but mentioning those two is where you're flawed. Arod and CC have been very bad in their playoff careers excluding this year. So a team could have a payroll of a billion dollars, that doesn't guarantee a world series. I'm pretty sure they won a bunch of world series even before free agency.

  • A-Rod wasn't very bad in the playoffs, even before '09.

Besides, playoffs stats are usually very small sample sizes.

  • @EeVvAaNn3 you crazy? He was 0 for 16 with RISP... 2009 was his break out playoffs. He had one good series against the Twins in 2004, that was about it until 2009 :P

  • @hafaball

He was alright in the ALCS against the Red Sox in '04. Did great in the 2000 ALCS...

Overall, he has a postseason line of .302/.409/.568, 13 HR, 35 RBI in 238 PA

  • I forgot about the COMMERCIALS!!! They had us laughing so much back then and still do! Nice job!!!!

  • i know you had game 7 of the 91 world series, but how could you not have kirby's home run from game 6. in my opinion as a twins fan that is the greatest call of all time. "and we'll see you tomorrow night!"

  • Jack,, painted a picture when broadcasting,, just close your eyes and Jack put you in Los Angeles, or Pittsburgh, or Montreal,, Jack Buck .. the voice of the Redbirds!

  • i never get tired of seeing that highlight of Ozzie's home run

  • Like most Cardinals fans my age, I grew up with Jack Buck and those monster teams of the 80's. You can't think of guys like Tommy Herr, Willie McGee, Vince Coleman, Terry Pendleton, Joaquin Andujar, and of course The Wizard of OZ without thinking of Jack Buck. The people we listen to on tv and radio form our image of the game of baseball, and none was, or ever will be, as good as Jack Buck. I'm lucky to have grown up listening to Jack.

  • very well done

    Cubs suck!!

  • Kirk Gibson in the 1988 World Series at 2:20 -- I'll never forget it!

  • one of the best broadcasters ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a true legend and very class act, god bless

  • This is great r.i.p. Jack Buck.

  • I miss Jack so much. I remember going to the game after he passed and cried my eyes out during the tribute. Cardinals ball just isn't quite the same without him.

    Jack, you are truly missed.

  • "Thanks for your time, this time, until next time, so long!!"

    Jack Buck was/is an icon.

He is buried within walking distance of my Father's grave in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in South St. Louis County.

  • This video is a tribute to Jack Buck. Shame on those of you that have tried to turn it into something else.

  • If you think Joe Buck is terrible, you just don't know anything about baseball or broadcasting.

  • You're kidding, right??

  • Not at all.

  • Agreed. ;)

  • Agreed, Joe can't even compare to his father.

  • you've met joe then? i guess i must have met his other son joe, because the joe buck that i met was a true gentleman. much like his father.

speaking of ass. i find it hard to believe someone would post a comment like yours about a man's son, on this tribute to jack.

  • too bad his son is god awful

  • @SKIZERT4 yeah,joe buck sucks ..

  • @SKIZERT4 Yeah he says some weird shit! Troy Aikmen doesn't help him in the NFL.

  • just recorded the beginning to my phone gonna use as my new ringtone sweet

  • true Costas is from st. louis but is originally from NY

  • How come Joe does have not had the style like his dad who would call the game with feeling and words that matched what was being seen like how Summerall did his play by play with football when you were watching and hearing Summerall you knew you were watching one of the great play by play broadcasters.

  • jack buck is one of the icons of baseball broadcasting along with red barber, mel allen, vin scully. I am glad we have Joe Buck and Bob Costas to carry the tradation of great baseball broadcasting.

  • i think it's also cool that both costas and buck are from saint louis :P

  • Jack Buck was one of the best ever. Cool video.

McCarver is the biggest douchebag ever. He is totally ignorant to baseball rules. Drives me nuts.

  • I could not agree more. You know what you are talking about.

  • i agree to the agreement

  • I agree to the 3rd degree.

  • Tim McCarver is a douche bag

  • @euskaldanak He's the reason why Jack got fired by CBS in the first place. Rest in Peace Jack, go Cardinals.

  • @mrkingofkings yeah man everytime fox has a playoff game now I turn on the radio and mute the tv. Id rather listen to Miller, and Morgan than his kid and MCdouche

  • @euskaldanak I still do that too.

  • Great calls by Jack Buck, but as a Dodger fan, I just cannot accept those images. Painful memories my older family members have told me about the '85 NLCS.

Dodgers had the best record in baseball in 1985 and were up 2-0 in the NLCS, but St. Louis came back to win the series 4-2, w/ the Ozzie and Clark HR's off Tom Niedenfuer. My dad told me that the Clark blast was the most painful Dodger HR allowed he's ever experienced. I can equal him in pain, w/ the Matt Stairs HR from the '08 NLCS Game 4.

  • [continued from above]

But I'll always have the Kirk Gibson HR call (although Vin Scully's call was epic too).

  • GO CARDINALS

  • Thank you for this. A wonderful video.

  • I agree with the majority of you. Jack was amazing and joe is not so much

  • that los angeles reliever did not have a fun nlcs did he?

  • I was at Game 6 in 1991 when Kirby Puckett hit that homerun in the Bottom of the 11th when Jack Buck said "into deep left-center, for Mitchell. And we'll see ya, tomorrow night."

  • Jack Buck was amazing. It's ashame how his son (Joe Buck) turned out, what a disgrace to the Buck name.

  • Huh? Joe's among the best announcers out there.

  • I disagree.

  • i agree with your disagreement.

  • but when you compare their styles joe is boring.

  • A disgrace? Are you stupid or just looking to get attention by going to such an extreme?

  • I think everybody likes this montage, except Tom Niedenfuer.

  • Jack Buck was outstanding! He was a classic play-by-play man in an era when all of the best ever were on the air. Jack was so great that his son has been able to have an great career because of Jack's success. Joe Buck is terrible and it's a shame that his lack luster play caling has tarnished his fathers legacy.....Jack Buck was phenominal!

  • I moved to St. Louis in 1988 after enjoying 30 years in the KC area and always enjoying American League baseball. The move to St. Louis brought in the RED aura of the Cardinals with Jack Buck leading me in. Whoever made the comment he was a better man than a broadcaster reminded me of meeting him at a book signing with my wife in a wheel chair. He got up and walked around the desk and introduced himself to her as he shook hands with her. She died in 2002 just 5 months before Jack. Tnks Jack

  • I have many memories of riding in the car with my dad, listening to Jack Buck during the Cardinals games!!

  • Jack Buck was awesome great calls cool montage Go CARDS!!!

  • Jack was great as a baseball announcer but think back.... who was better then the duo of Jack Buck and Hank Stram.. Get Madden off the air.

  • I agree....JB and HS were the best combo of all-time. I do like Madden and Michaels though.

  • Notice how Joe Buck was a lot heavier back then...

And you have the nerve to attack Nicole Ritchie for her anorexia.

  • i really miss hearing jacks voice on the radio,i always found his voice like an old frined speaking to me

  • I'm Abby Buck

Jack was my grandpa and it's great to see how many people's lives he touched

Joe's a good guy, but he's not his only son. There's Danny Buck and Jack Buck Jr. (my dad) too. Always wished my dad would have become an announcer. He sounds exactly like my grandpa, looks like him, and loves his "card-a-nelies", as he would say.

  • abby your grandpa is the best CBS baseball announcer of all time

  • thank you

  • I like Jack Buck...

his son sucks though. I'll never forgive him for being so crappy during the best sporting moment of my life(Manning to Tyree)...

    "Manning...under pressure...gets out if it...fires down field...caught...by Tyree."

Then Cowboy homer Aikman's like "...what a play..."

  • I don't care if you are a Yankee fan, you're absolutely f'in right. Joe Buck is a disgrace to the world of broadcasting.

Jack Buck is f'in great OTOH.

  • I'm an Astros fan. We've been rivals with the Cards for some time now. But I'm nearly brought to tears by this. Jack was the first radio play-by-play man I ever idolized, and for good reason. No one in the history of this game did it better than Mr. Buck.

    God rest your soul, Jack.

  • I remember the 88 world series. I was ten. I was suppose to be sleeping, but I turned the tv back on in my room. I will never forget the call of Kirk Gibson's homerun. There is no doubt in my mind, that's still the greatest call in baseball history. Just amazing. I know a lot of people love his son, but no one tops Jack!

  • Buck was on the radio for the '88 WS, but alot of people think he was doing the TV because most highlights of that moment use Jack Bucks call. Jack was nice to people that he did not benefit from being nice to. TStan Musial was just like Jack Buck in that way. They don't make people like that anymore.

  • Buck worked NBC Radio's broadcast of Game 5 of the 1968 World Series between the Cards and my Detroit Tigers, and his call of the Tigers' pivotal three-run, game-winning rally in the 7th inning of that game is a thing of beauty.

Most visiting announcers would try to downplay a big rally by the "other" team. It's a testament to Buck's supreme talent and professionalism that he captured the excitement of that inning beautifully. ("It's pandemonium in Michigan!")

  • Nice job on this. You did great work. I was stationed in Italy in 1998 during the McGwire home run chase, and I tuned in the game on AFN, and usually, you'd get the national announcers on the radio, but for whatever reason, they had Jack and Mike's call on the broadcast. What a touch of home that was! It was a game about mid-season where McGwire was ejected early in the game and the fans were throwing things on the field. Jack remained calm and classy the entire time.

  • I remember the Busch shark commercial like it was yesterday!

  • Too bad his son doesn't have a fraction of the energy, or effect Jack does.

  • Jack Buck...awesome

  • greatest announcer of all time

  • jack buck was pretty good

  • Great video...I do appreciate it...but neglecting the Kirby Puckett Game winning homer in game 6 of the 1991 World Series...thats Jack's best call!

  • Americangerman2 you are right i believe "And we'll see ya tomorrow night" is the best call of all

  • To me his all time classic saying is "And we'll see ya tomorrow night" on Kirby

Puckett's game 6 of the 91 World Series Walk off homerun

  • The Cardinals booth hasn't been the same since Jack died. Wayne Hagin was lame and now John Rooney tries waaaay too hard. Thank god Mike Shannon is still in there

  • no kidding, i would really like to see joe buck call games for the cards

  • Smith Corks one into right, and it may go! GO CRAZY FOLKS! Growing up in St. Louis in the 80's, and still a big Cardinals fan...that call still gives me chills.

  • NEVER will be a better one....thanks so much Jack.

  • i have no care for the Cardinals, but he is the greatest announcer I ever heard. A homer but doesnt wax poetic like John Sterling, who sucks. I wish his son was half as good as he is.

  • Totally agree.

  • he was absolutely the best. no wait, he and curt gowdy, scully, and ernie harwell were all the best. they don't make 'em like that anymore. did i have to say "'em"? yeah i guess i did.

  • Never really heard him. But he sounds just like a sports broadcaster should sound.

Too bad his son is the opposite. Joe Buck needs to be fired.

  • No man called as memorable games as he did gibsons walkoff, kirby pucket's walkoff. ozzie smiths walk off, "The Catch", and the original voice of the St. Louis, he will truly be missed by all

  • Are you kidding? "Go Crazy folks" Amazing...

  • His call of Gibson's homer was just as good as Vin's, and that's saying something. I was working and listened to him call the 1988 NLCS - he was terrific. He and Hank Stram were the best football calling duo ever.

    God Bless Jack Buck.

  • "Gibson swings and a high fly ball to deep right field. This is going to be a home run. Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson and the Dodgers have won the game 5-4! I don't believe what I had just saw! I don't believe ehat I had just saw! Is this really happening Bill?"

    R.I.P Jack Buck

  • Echoing 'machalot'. This is an 8:31 travesty. Game 6 1991--Kirby Puckett's GW HR "...and we'll see ya tomorrow night!" might be the greatest call in the history of sports. It's the only reason I clicked on this clip. Whoever posted/edited this is clueless.

  • atleast we have "the Twins are going to win it..the Twins have won it it's a base hit it's 1-0 10 inning victory"

  • GO CRAZY FOLKS!!! GO CRAZY AND THATS A WINNER!! Man I wish he was still with us. Bucks a classic

  • i can do a perfect impression of "I don't believe what i just saw"

  • Thanks a lot for your effort. I'm a big fan of many broadcasters, Buck chief among them, and while I've seen clips of them all, I haven't seen any compilations anywhere near as thorough. A job well done in Buck's memory.

  • It's hard to believe that Cardinal nation lost Jack 6 years ago today. I grew up listening to Jack call the games on KMOX. There will never be another like him. RIP JB

  • If "I don't believe what I just saw!" isn't the greatest announcer call in MLB history, I don't know what is. Truly a class act, and greatly missed. RIP, Jack.

  • Not a Cardinal game goes by where I don't miss the wonderful sound of Jack Buck's voice, communicating the excitement of a Cardinal game in the way that only he could.

As a child I had a baseball lesson taught everyday by Jack Buck.

There will NEVER EVER be another like him.

I always have and always will love the Cardinals but it's just not the same without the echo of his voice on a summer night.

God Bless you Jack Buck for the joy you gave so many for so long, we will always miss you.

  • Thanks so much for putting this montage together!!! Some rare clips to say the least!!!

  • Thanks!

  • What about "And we'll see ya tomorrow night!"

  • Jack Buck was pure class. One of my favorite sayings of his was "boo say the fans!" His call of Kirk Gibson's Homer sends chills thru me.Rest well Jack

  • Jack Buck was not only awesome, but a class act! The world is a lesser place without him!

    Jack was a "winner"!

  • Thanks for posting this. Jack Buck was one of a kind--no doubt. There is a DVD called "A Million Memories" of the Cardinals that has Mr. Buck's 9/11 poem on it, although I'm sure it's here on youtube or myspace video. My family has a brick outside Busch that says "Go Crazy Folks!" with all our names. What a class act and how I miss his playcalling. RIP.

  • whomever made this montage........KUDOS TO YOU MY FRIEND!!!! I grew up as a kid playing Indian ball and listening to Jack Buck at the same time. This is by far the best video Ive ever seen of Jack. A part of me died when Jack passed away. He always hs been and always will be "THE TRUEST CARDINAL FOR EVER AND EVER!" Jack Buck will always be a Cardinal Icon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That video gives me goose bumps every time I watch it. Such great memories of one of the finest in the business.

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you for this video. Amazing stuff. This is something KMOX should've done years ago. Herr's "Grand Slama" on seat cushion night...my goodness...what memories.

  • Awesome idea for a YouTube video. Thank you so very much. I love this. I love this so much.

  • Besides his speech after 9/11 my favorites were "Go crazy folks" , Gibson's HR vs. Oakland and Kirby Puckett's game winner in The '91 World Series. "We'll see you.......Tomorrow Night!!"

  • Almost made me weep. Jack Clark HR in LA ......good times!!!!!!

  • one of the greatest! i'm a cards fan from MD and i remember the heavy overcast nights when we could get the cards games over the am, some of my favorite memories!

  • Jack Buck....an original, and a great announcer. Like many sportscasters before him, and during his time, and UNlike many after him....He put his HEART and his SOUL into every pitch, every first down, and every play. You felt the emotion coming from him and the fans of the Cardinals hung on every one of his calls

  • I grew up on Jack Buck on those summer nights growing up in Memphis following my beloved Cardinals. Simply the best.

  • I DONT BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW !!

  • rip imu jack

  • I miss Jack Buck

  • I remember when he died, all the comments that flooded the radio stations about how he touched people's lives. It was like every person in St. Louis had their own personal Jack Buck story to tell. another sad death more recently was that of Mike Shannon's Wife.

  • Jack Buck...awesome

  • AND THAT'S A WINNER!

    Rest in peace, Jack.

  • Nicely done. Would any have or know where I could find the speech MR. Buck gave after 9/11?

  • I know... really sucks with newer guys... they just don't have "it". And I'm not speaking as an old timer, I'm 23... Jack was great, and so is vin... don't know who the play-by-play guy is for the yes network, but he's great also

  • I love Jack Buck.

  • One of the great voices of all time who called the greatest moments in baseball history. He had a knack for the right diction and emotion for the big moments.

  • mike shannon is way underatted

  • my favorite 2 calls from jack from the 1988 world series kurt gibson homreun off dennis eckersly "I DON'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW" and from the 1991 world series with kirby puckett's homerun AND WE'LL SEE YOU TOMMORROW NIGHT! nobody called it better i remember my dad sitting there with radio and hearing jack's raspy vioce "thats a winner or the famous "GO CRAZY FOLKS GO CRAZY! keep calling itin heaven for us jack.

  • Echoed in 2004 by his son Joe: "Ortiz into deep right field! Back is Sheffield! We'll see you later tonight!"

  • joe should've said THAT'S A WINNER when the cards won the series in 06, not that altered version. I doubt FOX executives would've complained.

  • Was Tom Niedenfuer the only pitcher to ever give up a home run to a Cardianl? He's in like every one, it seems.

  • lol..I remember. Even Willie had his lunch.

  • If you grew up in the St. Louis area (or the Midwest) in the '70's/'80's/'90's, Jack Buck was part of your childhood. I, of course, remember all of those calls, but my favorite was when I pointed a cassette recorder microphone at the radio and recorded Lou Brock's 105th stolen base as it happened on 9/10/74. I STILL have that 15-minute recording (!) God Bless You, Jack! You were an even BETTER man than a broadcaster...

  • What year was the Jack and Joe Rock and Roll commercial from?

  • I had never seen that commercial until this montage. Judging from Joe's age in the commercial, I would guess about '96 or '97 - no later.

  • Great stuff here. I especially like the Willie McGee and Tommy Herr calls. I was about 10 or 11 years old when those happened. I watched those games with my dad. Of course, we had the tv volume turned down so we could hear Mike Shannon and Jack Buck call the action.

It'll never be that good again.

  • You know I'd get up in Scotland to listen to Monday Night Football on AFN in the 80's,between several Polish news readers and opera singers on acid..I'd listen to Jack and Hank Stramn paint the magical story, God how I miss them..so glad you passed my way gentlemen God got himself a couple of gems there...

  • That's amazing, as a Cambridge resident who loved baseball in the early 90s with Jack and Tim on CBS in the States, I appreciate how hard it is to watch or listen to live sport from the states over here. Glad you shared that, Galeforce10.

  • Has anyone seen video of Jack's poem he read at Busch Stadium on the first game following Sept. 11? I've never seen the complete version and wondered if it was online anywhere.

  • as a twin fan, i remember hearing jack call the 91 world series and there were some great calls that didn't make this list, mainly kirby's walkoff homer in game 6

  • I grew up listening to Jack Buck and Mike Shannon

    "And here's my partner Jack!"

"Thanks Mike and here's the first pitch..."

    "And that's a winner!"

"And so long for just a while...."

  • Thanks a lot for the video. I really wish I could use this on my myspace page.

  • there will never be another one like him.

  • THATS A WINNER!
