u cannot compare a 22 LR to a 5.7, im sorry but it does not compute. if the shtf was to happen, nato troops will be coming over here using the 5.7 round and i am pretty sure it will be the armor piercing version that will slice open kevlar and steel plates like butter. lets see ur 22 do that? remember that the real 5.7 round is not avalailble. its like they made that shit weak on purpose. remember 9mm come in 147+p grain but they would rather u buy 115 grain.
Piece of advice for you do your reserch a lot more carefull next time. There not even close to haveing the same power. I mean yes there close if you fire the 22 mag out of a 26in rifle barrel and a light 5.7 load out of the pistol but even then it have well have more energy. if you really want to compair my p90 is shoting a 40gr. bullet at 2500 fps a 22 mag with 26 in barrel is about 1900 and you still have over 10 extar inches of barrel on the 22 mag.
It comes down to this. The .22 mag runs about $10-$14.00 per 50 rounds. The 5.7 x28mm runs from $20-$28.00 per 50. The Five seven costs around $1100.00 The PMR 30 about $500.00 The difference, the Five Seven is absolutely the most accurate handgun you can buy. The PMR 30 is verry picky and I know gun dealers that will not sell them, too many had to be returned to KelTec. that is all I need to know. I want one, but KelTec needs to remake them better.
The NYPD uses the 9mm round in all of their department issued handguns. Since its the largest and one of the oldest Municipal Police Departments in the United States, I'll take their word on the 9mm round over yours. Have you even conducted any independent ballistic research? Or do you believe everything you see on the internet...
@ArmyMed08 NYPD fell into the same marketing trap that the US Military did; they got suckered in by Beretta and others to switch to the 9mm from the .45 acp.
There is a reason that LE departments all across the country have left the 9mm behind; I would imagine that NYC has not because of the costs involved in a change out. That's just my guess though.
Ballistics do not lie. Just my two cents ArmyMed08.
@texa swader Because their officers cannot shoot…they look for a cover-up to make the general public feel better, the problem is that Hollywood has brainwashed everyone into believing one stop shots and that every bullet hits the target. A bigger bullet does not make up for a poor shot. The reason they switched is because of good marketing and fixed statistics. If 9mm was compleatly innefective then it would not be around anymore!
@texaswader I want to add; dont mistake that I am saying the .45 is not ballistically better than the 9mm, its a matter if its such a great improvment that it makes up for the negatives of the .45acp...for many people it does not. Either way, God Bless America for giving us the choice to choose what we want.
First of all, I like KelTec weapons. They aren't perfect but I haven't met the "perfect" weapon yet....well, ok, maybe mini-gun, but it's hard to carry around and concealed carry is a bitch. As to these two weapons,I bought the Keltec 22 while waiting on delivery of the Five Seven. Maybe I got an early version or just one with problems. I liked the quality of the build and the light weight, but never got it to fire over 2 rounds without a jam or FTF with the recommended ammo.traded it in on 5.7.
The .22 Mag is an underestimated round. It can definately kill if you're accurate. As for the arguments that i always hear about 1 caliber being better than another. Shut up. Any caliber is better than no gun at all. Not to mention the fact that you say 9mm are for gays...It's people like you that give southerners and people from the country a bad name. The 9mm can be just as good as any caliber in the right hands. It isn't gonna matter what fuckin' round you're using if you can't place the shot
the point of the keltek was to get 22LR performance from a rifle into a pistol, so if u buy a 22mag pistol consider it as powerful as a 22LR from an 18 inch barrel.
I don't think that your statement about the .22 WMR being equal to the 5.7x28mm when fired from a different barrel length is valid. To test the muzzle energy of the two, they have to be fired from equal barrel length. That's like saying a punch(the 5.7x28) to the stomach(Less effective [pistol barrel]) will have the same stopping power as a rubber band(.22 WMR) to the balls (More effective [Rifle barrel.]) To measure the muzzle energy, the conditions need to be equal.
I hear that the 5.7 is better suited to be used in a pistol or a very short barrel, and that the performance of the .22wmr suffers when it is fired from a short barrel.
thumbs downs are likely because it lacked much info other than obvious, unless someone never heard of these, could have been done better, was slow moving.
i think the fort hood mention was appropriate and highly doubt it's the reason for thumbs down ratio 4:1.
No offense, I'm sure if i made gun videos i'd get thumbs down. i arrived here as recommended in sidebar from hickok45 video, and i guess it doesn't compare well to others. i would have given a thumbs-sideways at sightly upward angle.
@TheJason575 haha agree. By the way he forms his sentences, his lack of a vocabulary beyond a fifth grade level and his utter lack of ability to be coherent or think analytically definitely screams "high school dropout". Go back to school kid...maybe even get the balls to get a college degree and then make videos. There's more to understanding firearms and ballistics than the ability to pull your trigger finger!
You almost, and I mean 'almost' had a worth while video...try setting your bad-ass attitude aside, along with this "bitches" crap and you might garner some respect.
Need to do a little more research dude:Kel-Tec have stated [PDF Link] that a 40 grain .22 WMR round should reach a velocity of 1230 fps from the 4.3" barrel of their PMR-30 pistol. This works out to 134.40 ft/lbs of energy.
This is a significantly less than the FN Five-seveN USG (4.75" barrel), which can push a 40 grain bullet at 2009 fps. This works out to 358.57 ft/lbs! Nearly three times as powerful as the .22 WMR! 1
I wanted to see the comparison but couldn't get pass the "What's up bitches?". Please talk & act like an adult. Especially when your messing with firearms.
Hey, I dislike the "What's up bitches?" foolishness as much as anybody and have for a while. But beyond that, lets keep things in perspective. Some jerkoff killed 32 people at Virginia Tech with a Glock 19. Every time we discuss the G-19 or the 9mm. round, we have to speak guardedly as to not invoke memories of the deceased at VT? The poster is stating a point in fact about Ft. Hood. No one likes that it happened for God's sake but it did happen and nothing short of time travel can fix that .
i'm sure that crazy shithead was useing the ballistic tips and everything... now the president won't even use the word 'terrorist'... what the fuck is goin on?
I believe he could have broached the subject of the Ft Hood shootings with more sensitivity but still qualifying that he was in no was gratuitous in his references to those events.. The 70% of 'dislikes' need to make efforts to ratchet down on their P.C psychological programming, seriously I know its hard.
The 5.7x28mm SM4 round is a super sonic round launched out a 4'' barrel is the only round one needs to do the job with a muzzle velocity 2,600fps-405 ft LBS. This handgun is the best weapon system on the market hands down. I owned 9mm, .40 and 1911.45 and i would pick the FN any day of the week.
I WORK WITH SOME OF THE VICTIMS......ACTUALLY I IM STILL THERE WITH THE REMAINING FEW....YES IT WAS A TRAGEDY AND NOTHING THAT HE SAID WAS DISRESPECTFUL BUT HOWEVER.....IT IS A CAUTIONS SUBJECT......ANYWHO BOTH BULLETS AND GUNS ARE VERY POWERFUL FOR THOSE OF WHO THAT HAVENT GOTTAN A CHANCE TO SHOOT
Missing is a risk that anyone faces with any firearm. Know your backdrop and act accordingly. If your backdrop is safe fire until the threat is no longer a threat. If you are surrounded by neighbors use frangible ammo. Fortunately my neighbor is a grass hill and he wont mind if i miss. As far as fearing legal consequences, the safety of my family far exceeds my fear of what if.
True, and 22LR is really cheap compared to 22WMR. The ballistic difference is about the same from 22LR to 22WMR as 22WMR to 5.7x28. Effective ammunition isnt cheap. Cost shouldnt drive the decission in buying something that may one day save your life, and logistics definately wont cut it when your life depends on it.
Take the best 22 WMR and the best 5.7x28 rounds and the 5.7 completely dominates in every aspect. The S4M bullet in 5.7x28 has a 2600fps velocity from the 4.9" barrel of the five seven with almost 400ft/lbs energy. A 22 WMR out of a 5" barrel barely reaches 1400fps w/ around 250ft/lbs energy. Note that the Ft Hood shooter used the weakest 5.7x28 bullet offering available and still wreaked havoc. Imagine what would have happened had he used home defense rounds.
@lEgaLiZeVOLVE First off, god rest the victims of Ft. Hood. Indeed ballistics prove 5.7x28 is more effective than a .22mag. You can point to all the facts and figures you want. Bottom line however for for most shooters is COST or bang for the buck. 5.7x28 = $24 for 50rds/.22mag $11.16 for 50. Then there is availability. Point to ballistics and the 5.7 wins. Point LOGISTICS and the .22 wins.
@lEgaLiZeVOLVE You had better hope you miss if you're using an S4M cartridge. Sure, EA can legally sell them (with a boatload of restriction to various states and cities) and you can legally buy them. Using them for home defense, however, is a different matter. "Capable of defeating 30 layers of Kevlar" may sound cool on their website, but hearing a prosecutor say "and you knowingly used armor piercing rounds" wouldn't.
@muttonbuster. Why do people from the internet spew factless information. The bullet is not constructed from any prohibited material that would classify on a state or federal level as armor piercing. The bullet is a simple copper jacket clad aluminum core hollow point. EA is simply able to drive it's velocity over that of what SS198LF can achieve. It's not AP
I know many lay claim to the longest shot, but here is one maybe you haven't seen. the title to look for is: Longest Sniper Kill Ever. watch this video.
Ah, ya can't use American ammo...that say's it all. I was all in until I heard that.
It reminds me of a Canadian sniper team out of ammo and the American's were near by who gave them plenty of 50 BMG rounds. They couldn't believe the improvements. Then went from 1800 meters to 2600 meters and the bullets where several times more accurate. So, if you can't shoot American rounds through this pistol, I'm all done with it...THE END!
check out kel tec's video on the PMR-30 and you will see when you load the mag you have to tap it every few rounds when loading so the primers dont misalaing and the firearm doesnt jam.
Id rather have a FN PS90 but the price is to much.
whats wrong with stating a fact, thats all he did. The round was used at fort hood and it killed people..thats just a fact, he didnt say anything about it being good that it happened
@lewandowskid 100% agreed, many people are butt hurt about the fact I mentioned the Fort Hood shooting, It was something bad that happen and I hope never happens again but the 5.7x28mm did do the damage.
@TMHonfire102 Honestly, I think its BS how everyone gets all upset when you talk about controversial things like that. If anything, you are preventing something like this, as you are helping CCW and other gun owners into picking the right round which could have stopped the fort hood shooting before or just after the first casualty.
@TMHonfire102 AMEN!!! why are people being babies i went to outdoor and ask for the five seven and all the sales people look at me like i was crazy and told me that they would never sell the gun at there store. retards as if all there other guns are safe
I would definitely use other specifics to describe the capabilities of the round other that a maniac using it to kill american soldiers. Try using references to effectively killing our enemy instead!
you are a fucked up whore.. who never knew who his father was becouse his mother didnt remember if she was raped by a bum on the street or the neighbors dog..
i ve seen a lot of assholes on youtube i never seen a disrespectful gay asshole like you.. have a bad day bitch.
man are you fucking stupid first off bringing up ft hood your lucky i dont have your home address bitch this is one ex ranger that would come and hunt your ass down in front of your family and my cousin was killed at ft hood you towl head loving son of a cammle humping fatherless whore i hope you burn you lil wannabe faggot
Holy fuck.....so 9mm is for gays but it's stronger than either of these rounds and cheaper to shoot. Plus the way he though about fort hood. Wow so the 5.7mm proved it'd do it's job against non-deserving targets? That's a shitty view point i don't blame the gun i never do in those situations. The weapon was misused and that misuse is solely to blame on the user.
A better comparison in terms of cartridge design would be the .22 hornet, but then there would be no comparison in terms of energy. A PDW in .22 hornet would really be something. Unless your LE or military and can get the ss190 ammunition that the ATF banned for the civilian market there really is nothing special about the 5.7 cartridge. Its lost all its penetrating ability and is no more powerful than your 9mm at typical pistol engagement range.
@Troyaciesiolka I'm not trying to defend this guy, But think about what your saying. "hit like a 40 cal at 400 yards?" really? FN themselves claim the 5.7 has an EFFECTIVE range of 200 meters. At 400 meters it will already have lost most of its energy.
@carpati1 FYI, your 5.7/40gr stats represent the velocity out of a rifle. I have shot a PMR30 and the FN FiveseveN through a Chrono and found the 5.7 was moving between 1630-1730 fps and the .22 mag 40gr averaged around 1200 fps. I think that overall effectiveness will be about bullet design. I suspect the 5.7 will edge out the .22 mag. That being said, I don't know if the platform is worth the extra $800 and spendy rounds. PMR is fun and cheaper to shoot. I carry a Glock for the zombies.
@voteforpedr0 Did he ever say anything about the Fort Hood shooting being a 'good thing'? No, he was commenting on the power of the cartridge. It sucks that we lost lives that day, but that man was a fucked up individual.
@dapa4, this is voteforpedr0, (I had to get another screen name because the numbnuts who made that video banned my voteforpedr0 acct. from posting here) please see my response to a similar argument below.
9 mm for gays then you would be calling nato the un oi ted states and the germans in ww2 were all gay I dont think so. If you are shot it is going to hurt. And when shot placement seem that it is not important
@voteforpedr0 i think what he meant was people thought that this round was underpowered but after that incident it opened peoples eyes to just how dangerous it is.
I found no reason to dislike you or your videos, you are just posting your opinion and I am ok with that. What I do take offense to, is your 'whats up my bitches', I know it is just your tagline, but it takes away from your credibility. As far as stating the round proved itself at Ft Hood is just a matter of fact and it does not seem like you are disrespecting the dead. Some people just need to take it easy, I do not think YOUTUBE should be a popularity contest, IMHO.
wow, using the Ft Hood Shooting for your example to prove the ballistics for your video? There are just some people on this planet who really need to stay in school or rather go to school.
I looked it up, the 22mag rifle is still less than the five seven pistol, which doesn't even matter since we are comparing pistol to pistol, and there is no comparison period, in any catagory except for price. Which is why I would consider the PMR 30, and the fun factor is a little higher. And by the way, I'm no ones bitch, especially yours.
Wow this kid knows nothing about internal external and terminal ballistics. You think these rounds are even remotely the same? perhaps we can shoot you in the knee with each and see what effect they have. I'm sure you will see a difference then.
@hancock0351 It's actually funny because in this video he says that .22 mag from a rifle barrel is the same as 5.7 from a pistol barrel and comes to the conclusion that they are the same. He obviously knows the discrepancies in whatever data he is citing and still makes the claim anyway.
a fucking redneck talking like he's from thug. ill make you my fucking bitch you fag. listen too yourself, you sound like a snobby fucking bitch that no one likes. im sure you are well liked around your peers. that's a sarcasm btw moron.
@akdude182 no im just a little ticked off at this dude saying it. besides this is youtube, you're always gonna get a video you hate and you are always going to see comments you're not going to like. im sure im not the only one to have mention it.
@akdude182 no im just a little ticked off at this dude saying it. it's just the fact that he refers to call everyone a bitch. i grew up with all minorities and i dont live in the safest part of town. but i don't go around calling people bitches, because around here a world like that isn't taking lightly. so you have to understand my point a little.
@blaziankhmer Yeah but you said you can't get away with it where you live because people don't take it lightly when, obviously, you can and they do. When I visit those parts of town I hear "nigga" and "bitch" every other word, and that's certainly the case in black stand-up and movies.
I'm not saying any of it is acceptable, just that it's obviously not as big a deal to them as you make it out to be. But maybe it SHOULD be.
Seriously. You are the stupidest person Ive seen today. A longer barrel will GREATLY affect energy and velocity. Have you ever looked up the ballistics on the 5.7x28mm? That round is devastating. If it were in my power I would remove your video and revoke your internet access.
You are such an idiot. I-D-I-O-T! The .22 WMR can never compare to the 5.7x28- and remember, you're comparing one through a rifle (.22 WMR) to a round through a pistol (5.7x28). How about comparing them both through a pistol, or both through a rifle? Hands down, the 5.7x28 will always come out way on top. No comparison. Bitch. Oh, and stay off of YouTube.
The trouble with the Internet is that people will believe whatever they read, without actually taking the time to check the facts for themselves. Clearly, this is the case with you.
While the .22 WMR definitely has its place, it doesn't, and can never, equal the performance of the 5.7x28. Period.
"The Five-seven is currently in service with military and police forces in over 40 countries throughout the world. In the United States, the Five-seven is in use with numerous law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service."
This is not true with the .22 WMR round. Why do you think this is?
"The P90 is currently in service with military and police forces in over 40 countries throughout the world. In the United States, the P90 is in use with over 200 law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service."
In case you weren't aware, the PS90 and P90 uses the 5.7x28 round. Do you think 40 countries, and over 200 law enforcement agencies in the USA (including the U.S. Secret Service) use .22 WMR carbines? No? Why do you think that is?
@disturbedone5009 Sorry no. SS197SR, 40gr Vmax loadings, typically chronograph anywhere from 1650-1750 FPS from a 4.75" barrel. With a 1.25" longer barrel, I could only muster 1384fps with .22WMR with CCI Maxi Mags, and even lower with Super-X Winchester. Someone's data is wrong... You're also assuming ME means everything in the world to ballistics
I can see where YouTube nation gets butthurt when they hear a dude with your accent talking about guns and not being PC. But hey, keyboard warriors get upset when you say, "The .22mag is great for killing coyotes, prairie dogs, and stray animals." The only thing I would change because all of the Call of Duty kids and airsoft fags who wish they had real guns are going to gig you for the title. I thought it was going to be a gun face-off and demo. Not a discussion of rounds. But, you get more hits
@legoman05 if u can't kill a deer with a 223 or a 6.8 u don't know what u are doing and if u put 15 9 rounds in someone it will kill the but I go for the head so it takes just one get your shit straight
panuway ka! hambugero! bahog ilok! abnormal! 5.7 is designed to penetrate body armor while 22 magnum is designed to shoot birds like morion and kwaknit. it cannot kill baboy ihas in the philippines.
say man. I so far have enjoyed a few of your videos. I'm 29 yrs old and am interested in buying both of these pistols. i recently got my paws on a PMR 30 and you will love it... but im a grown ass man, 6'5" 230lbs. from louisiana and if u called me one of your "bitches" 2 my face. you would shortly have 2 visit your local maxillofacial surgeon 2 have your jaw wired shut... u wanna post all these vids? nobody will take u seriously till u learn some respect. Have a good day.
thats like saying my horady tap 40 gr. .223 for my ar15 is the same as the 22mag cartridge hooly crap this is the most ridculos thing I have ever herd
@Sarge101stAirborne Wow, you sound like a little bitch for someone with 101st AirBorne as their Username! I have been shot by a 9mm in my back. My left Shoulder blade to be exact. All I was wearing was a T-Shirt, denim jacket, and a backpack. The bullet hit the strap of my back pack, and went through my clothing lodging itself in my shoulder blade. It was perfectly lined up with my heart but it didn't go through my shoulder blade, and it didn't even knock me off balance. It's a pussy round!
@Sarge101stAirborne Your a 14 year old, we can tell. Shut up. A 9mm will not come near killing a grown man, nor moving a man. If this man is on, say, meth-amphetamine, you will put 15 rounds in his chest and he will rip the eyes out of your socket. The 9mm is a terrible round and is ballisticly fucked. Like you.
Lastly, Shoot for shit? A pistol isn't exactly a marksman's M40A5, its ment to kill men from under 50 yards, And will do that fluently. You cant just get 1 MOA groups with an M9. Peace
@legoman05 ...Dude, I killed a 250lb hog a few weeks back with a 9mm. I do agree though, it's not something to rely on when you're dealing with amped-up psychopaths. I'll take 460 SW, 5.56, 12 gauge, and 6.8 spc for that stuff. Still, creatures can be killed with a 9mm, two legged or otherwise.
@dysqsarhut ehh 5.56? or 6.8? both have trouble killing deer. The 5.56 has often left deer running and the 6.8 is not exactly a man stopper. 12 gauge slugs all the way. And a hog with a 9mm? I would piss my pants. Get me some black talons and maybe lol.
@legoman05 I take deer every year with my 6.8. It's just like my thirty-thirty. I don't hunt with a 5.56, but I'm sure a well placed shot will down it every time. Oh, and if it helps ease your nerves, I shot the hog from a tree behind its ear.
u cannot compare a 22 LR to a 5.7, im sorry but it does not compute. if the shtf was to happen, nato troops will be coming over here using the 5.7 round and i am pretty sure it will be the armor piercing version that will slice open kevlar and steel plates like butter. lets see ur 22 do that? remember that the real 5.7 round is not avalailble. its like they made that shit weak on purpose. remember 9mm come in 147+p grain but they would rather u buy 115 grain.

@rVLnFOURchannel 22 LR is not anything like the 22 Magnum that he is talking about. 22M is an entirely different round, not just a hot 22 LR.

Let me give my two cents on this one:
Imagine a variant of the KelTec PMR 30 that uses the .22 Hornet instead of the.22 WMR!
The advantages will be tremendous!
Center fire vs. rim fire! With a 40 gr bullet you get almost 2000fps vs. 1200fps velocity!
And you get some serious stopping power: 310 ft-lbs vs. 138 ft-lbs!
That will outperform the FN Five Seven on any level!

RarghImGunnaEatU 1 month ago
I hear that the 5.7 is better suited to be used in a pistol or a very short barrel, and that the performance of the .22wmr suffers when it is fired from a short barrel.

i think the fort hood mention was appropriate and highly doubt it's the reason for thumbs down ratio 4:1.
No offense, I'm sure if i made gun videos i'd get thumbs down. i arrived here as recommended in sidebar from hickok45 video, and i guess it doesn't compare well to others. i would have given a thumbs-sideways at sightly upward angle.

You can get 5.7 armor piercing rounds for about 7 dollars a round,

just a regular hollow point for like 50 cents a round
or get the round in the video for about 39-40 cents a round

Missing is a risk that anyone faces with any firearm. Know your backdrop and act accordingly. If your backdrop is safe fire until the threat is no longer a threat. If you are surrounded by neighbors use frangible ammo. Fortunately my neighbor is a grass hill and he wont mind if i miss. As far as fearing legal consequences, the safety of my family far exceeds my fear of what if.
lEgaLiZeVOLVE 4 months ago

Imagine what would have happened had he used home defense rounds.
lEgaLiZeVOLVE 5 months ago
@lEgaLiZeVOLVE First off, god rest the victims of Ft. Hood. Indeed ballistics prove 5.7x28 is more effective than a .22mag. You can point to all the facts and figures you want. Bottom line however for for most shooters is COST or bang for the buck. 5.7x28 = $24 for 50rds/.22mag $11.16 for 50. Then there is availability. Point to ballistics and the 5.7 wins. Point LOGISTICS and the .22 wins.
jamesdewer 5 months ago
@lEgaLiZeVOLVE You had better hope you miss if you're using an S4M cartridge. Sure, EA can legally sell them (with a boatload of restriction to various states and cities) and you can legally buy them. Using them for home defense, however, is a different matter. "Capable of defeating 30 layers of Kevlar" may sound cool on their website, but hearing a prosecutor say "and you knowingly used armor piercing rounds" wouldn't.
muttonbuster 4 months ago
@muttonbuster. Why do people from the internet spew factless information. The bullet is not constructed from any prohibited material that would classify on a state or federal level as armor piercing. The bullet is a simple copper jacket clad aluminum core hollow point. EA is simply able to drive it's velocity over that of what SS198LF can achieve. It's not AP

Its lost all its penetrating ability and is no more powerful than your 9mm at typical pistol engagement range.
rustyfiero 7 months ago
@Troyaciesiolka I'm not trying to defend this guy, But think about what your saying. "hit like a 40 cal at 400 yards?" really? FN themselves claim the 5.7 has an EFFECTIVE range of 200 meters. At 400 meters it will already have lost most of its energy.

OK, Moron! Let’s do it your way!
Let’s go back to 5.7 round!
You said that the .22 has the same velocity IF it was shot from
a long rifle! Let’s compare apples to apples!
Let’s use the PS90! Witch is a civilian version!
.22/ 40grain ….1,080ft/s
5.7/40grain …..2,650ft/s
What will you use now to prove the .22 is better? A cannon?
And be a man: answer the questions you are asked!
Don't hide like a pervert!!!
carpati1 7 months ago

@hancock0351 It's actually funny because in this video he says that .22 mag from a rifle barrel is the same as 5.7 from a pistol barrel and comes to the conclusion that they are the same. He obviously knows the discrepancies in whatever data he is citing and still makes the claim anyway.

TwoMACDaddy1 9 months ago 3
@TwoMACDaddy1
Sorry but you are wrong. The 5.7x28mm and .22 WMR are pretty similar ballistics wise.
Winchester's Super-X .22 WMR 40 grain Fired from a 6.5" pistol barrel the loads register 1480 fps MV and 195 ft. lbs. ME.
This would mean an actual MV of approximately 1560 fps and ME of 216 ft. lbs. for the 5.7x28mm 40 grain bullet when fired from a handgun.
This was from a Chuck Hawks article. Google Chuck Hawks 5.7 Cop Killer Myth
disturbedone5009 4 months ago
@disturbedone5009
The trouble with the Internet is that people will believe whatever they read, without actually taking the time to check the facts for themselves. Clearly, this is the case with you.
While the .22 WMR definitely has its place, it doesn't, and can never, equal the performance of the 5.7x28. Period.
TwoMACDaddy1 4 months ago
Wikipedia, regarding the FN Five Seven pistol:
"The Five-seven is currently in service with military and police forces in over 40 countries throughout the world. In the United States, the Five-seven is in use with numerous law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service."
This is not true with the .22 WMR round. Why do you think this is?
TwoMACDaddy1 4 months ago
Wikipedia regarding the FN PS90:
"The P90 is currently in service with military and police forces in over 40 countries throughout the world. In the United States, the P90 is in use with over 200 law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Secret Service."
In case you weren't aware, the PS90 and P90 uses the 5.7x28 round. Do you think 40 countries, and over 200 law enforcement agencies in the USA (including the U.S. Secret Service) use .22 WMR carbines? No? Why do you think that is?
TwoMACDaddy1 4 months ago
I can answer both questions- it's because the .22 WMR does not, and can not, even come close to matching the performance of the 5.7x28 round.
Period.
'Nuff said.

5.7mm versus a longer .22? No contest peircing wise. But considering the longer .22 is still a real .22, it's cooler. And simpler.
And it's .22WMR.

Still, creatures can be killed with a 9mm, two legged or otherwise.
dysqsarhut 10 months ago
@dysqsarhut ehh 5.56? or 6.8? both have trouble killing deer. The 5.56 has often left deer running and the 6.8 is not exactly a man stopper. 12 gauge slugs all the way. And a hog with a 9mm? I would piss my pants. Get me some black talons and maybe lol.
legoman05 10 months ago
@legoman05 you want to kill a deer? use an m203 grenade launcher or an rpg.
bungibuktotpalaotot 10 months ago
@legoman05 I take deer every year with my 6.8. It's just like my thirty-thirty. I don't hunt with a 5.56, but I'm sure a well placed shot will down it every time. Oh, and if it helps ease your nerves, I shot the hog from a tree behind its ear.

lmao, I still love 9mm in compact pistols but I gotta admit, the "9mm is still for gays" was pretty funny.
