  • ahh brentwood one of the best showsive got a basic idea for a bot just need the parts now

  • Does rex do much robot stuff nowa days?

  • @andyg3 I don't know. I see him judging events but not competing.

  • Is that George Francis on 6:09 and Andrew Marchant on 7:09?

Lol at Iron-Awe flipping Envy with Hydra on top of it!

  • George wasn't there but there are a few shots of Andrew as you have identified. Next to him in the blue shirt is Rex Garrard (Cassius) who was one of the judges with Andrew.

  • hey laurie when is lightning comming back i would love to see it in action again

  • Are spinners, like disk's and full body jobs allowed to compete in these events? The heavyweight ones?

  • No, for safety reasons.

  • Well. That sucks.

  • Mind you some spinners are very scary. But if ever you wish to make an arena for them, then they could compete.

  • Well, i'm only 15, better get to work!

  • Yeah, might be done by the time you're 20. Someone's gotta do it ;-)

  • Sorry to being this up again but is a "bi-rotational axe" allowed? Like the one on IG-88?

  • No, that is classed as a vertical spinner.

  • COOOOL miniature Iron-Awe lol!

  • Laurie are u going next year? I think I am. God, I would kill to go to this event!

  • Sure am. In fact I hope to make an hour long DVD of the event for them. Might see you there then.

I'm off to Guildford June 14th 09 to film something for them, so might have a new video up here very soon.

  • do you think you may sign lighting up one day laurie for the local events i mean you only have to do 8 fights and i think its about time lightning came out of his display case in its last fight it beat tornado so should be able to do well here just give it a try for 1 year mabe

  • We may plan to make another body for Lightning more suitable to the live events. It will be made of several panels and perhaps have a mech flipper. We are still deciding.

  • whats the difference between live events and robot wars

  • For RW our engineer designed the robot using his engineering skills, hoping to get nominated for an engineering award. That is why the shell is in one piece. Not practical for fighting and relacement of panels but great looking and a great engineering show piece. But they didn't have the awards in series 7. Also for live events we don't want to think about gassing the robot, so a mech one would be easier.

  • are any spinner allowed in roaming robots the most damaging weapon i sore was an axe arnt there any crushers or flywheels

  • No spinners at live events for safety reasons. Vertical crushers are ok.

  • so pussycat dont compete then

  • I believe not, but Stu (one of the team) is at the events usually.

  • its a shame though spinners like hypno disc, 259, typhon 2, 13 black, pussycat and so on where some of the most destructive weapons on robot wars flippers are very good but for raw power and destruction you cant beat the kenetic flywheel

  • does razer ever compete or come along then

  • If you pay them they come.

  • My robot at 3:50!! (His name is P.S.M.B and he is at the corner with Pillow Torque)

  • 3:50 is where my robot is!! (P.S.M.B)

  • can anyone give me adive for building an ant weigh shall i start from scratch or from a mini radio contolled car?

  • I've made ants from RC car that way, and even with paper bodies, you can have a lot of fun on the kitchen floor. Make those in an afternoon.

  • Fantastic video !!

Good to see you again !

    John

    Roaming Robots

  • Thanks John. I hope to get to Swindon or Guildford. See you soon. Laurie

  • 0:46 ME! (Team Hunt!)

    3:13 HUNTER! (didnt win :( )

    3:39 BRILLIANT 2! (On flipper :p)

  • hunter looks like a miniture storm 2 looks like a good robot too

  • Yeah, it is good. Matt made it, and it was thanks to him that I went to this event. He told me it was on, so I went. I wouldn't have known otherwise as I've been off the scene.

  • Hi Laurie,

Thanks for the video, as an antweight roboteer who was there I appreciate your sentiments, and we'll be there next year for you to video us.

  • FAN-SMEGGING-TASTIC! Great to see Lightning and Cassius again. I sure wish I could be in England JUST ONCE IN MY LIFE to see all these robots compete.

  • Well, until you can I'll keep putting up these videos!

  • Next time we plan to film more of the antweights. We got very little this time. This was a rough and ready video I took whilst there. Next time I can do it properly.

  • it got pretty violent at the end !:) if not for the steel cage the robots would've attacked the audience

  • The arena is a bit special (made by Jonno of Roaming Robots) because if a robot gets flipped over, it has an area to allow it to get back in (through a doorway in the arena wall that comes down) if it can recover within 30 seconds. Cool!

  • can you have some clips of the aw arena and battles in roaming robot please

  • I didn't have much time, so didn't film much this year. Next year it will be done properly. Plans are afoot!
