  • did those band play the same show?

    Staind

    Our Lady Peace

    Linkin Park

    Fuel

  • @kmt187 OLP is definitely not on the same level as Staind and Linkin Park. You should know that.

  • @minds0ulfist yeah tell em mindsoulfist! how can u even compare those bands to olp!

  • But I've seen them a lot and they are great live. I'm not knocking anyone here

  • Maybe top 50. Were you there in the 90s. They opened for alot of top ten bands

  • Easily one of the top ten bands to come out of the 90s!

  • They're in the RRHOF?!?!?!?! WICKED!!!!

  • GIVE MORE LOVE TO TEH BASSES

  • steve is such a kickass guitarist. so much energy, guy doesn't stop moving

  • I honestly don't know why any one is complaining about the way this band preforms! They sound amazing regardless. I don't think that I have ever heard a band preform a song exaclty how it was recorded on the album. Take Nirvana for existance. Those guys modified every song they ever recorded a diferent way almost every time they played it. In my opinion it shows growth and experimentation on the bands part. If I wanted to listen to the album version I would save my money and listen to the record

  • @MarlinB , definitely agreed. I mean these guys are incredible live performers. and to be honest, i like it when bands play/sing differently during their live performances. makes things more interesting.

  • @MarlinB radiohead, muse, arcade fire

  • @MarlinB red hot chili peppers.

  • Epic. You have to watch this video all the way through. Wow.

  • Great video! Thanx ! Amazing song !!

  • May I be first to say, holy fuck?

  • I Fucken Love This Song So Much..My Favorite Song By O.L.P. I Love The Way HIs Voice Sounds IN This One..

  • 2:34 if he can't even do that part of the song live (which is the best part in my opinion) than no one can lol

  • so flat...ouch

  • I love this song so much

  • I love OLP so much, but they need mike turner man theyyy neeeed him back.

  • fuck him...

Steve is way better, and Mike won't return anyways...

give some damn appreciation to Steve too.

  • They just don't make alt rock bands like they used to.

  • I think it's is whiney old or new. It's cool, just not my style.

  • Easily one of Canda's best. Greetings from the US.

  • Is that MTV playing actual music?

    I'm in shock.

  • I was at the halifax concert last week, and he sounds a lot better there than hear

  • @mikec222 everyone has their bad shows. Can't sound good all the time.

    Voice strain...etc

  • Fuck i love the drummer he's got so much attitude/charisma, skills and a lot of originality in his drumming pattern

  • @FrxBass Jeremy Taggart is totally an underrated drummer

  • well if all u guys really wona know he chose to sing this way the live video was made only a year before the gravity album was and he hase a his normal sounding high voice then only a year later he hase this voice hes just not singing as nasiely if he really wanted to to he could sing his old way even on his new songs on burn burn

  • u don't know shit about good vocalists d o you?

  • well this is one of the hardest and the most complicated songs i have ever heard so i give him props :D Raine rulz!

  • when was this?

  • prob. 02-04 cuz mazur`s here and raine rocked this hairstyle in his gravity vids...

and he reached the peak of his voice here...

but he`s still pretty good today w/ burn burn

  • i am a huge OLP fan, and i will always love these guys, but i have to say that his singing has gotten a bite worse, but just a bite. he's still a great singer tho.

  • its not that his singing has gotten worse, its just that his voice has matured. This song was written when he was in his mid-twenties, when he was able to make easy transitions between his normal voice and falsetto, so he used a lot of that in the songs from those earlier albums. Its normal, as men age, that their voices get deeper. He's in his late-thirties now, so the falsetto is more difficult, but his lower range is much smoother and easier to control

  • @blackirises

    true...

    he's 40-41 now :P

  • @blackirises Most other singer can do it. your voice doesn't get to that point until your in your late 40s early 50s. Look at some 80s bands and you will understand. 30 though is way to young to loose your falsetto.

  • @flatblackstrat He hasn't lost his falsetto. He can still sing falsetto perfectly fine. if you listen closely, the actual difference is the transition between his lower range and falsetto. That transition area has changed, and that is perfectly normal. Transition areas of ranges will change even as you train your voice or change up your style. And his falsetto style is VERY different from those 80s singers you're referring to.

  • @blackirises

I don't want to be a nitpicker, but he's not going to falsetto, but head voice (not breathy, cords are still closed).

He sounds sick on these songs and he pulls up with his technique so he's always going to wear out his voice...so unless he's in good health and warmed up, it's hard for him to hit anything...and he prob can't hit anything perfectly with his technique anyway cause he has to pull so much.

  • @xolinius Go watch OLP Live, their DVD from the Gravity tour and get back to me on not hitting things. His voice is pretty much perfect, once he gets a couple songs in. Most of the live preformances of them on Youtube aren't that good. I've seen them a couple of times live and they're quite good.

  • @888greg888 Hey greg, I'm not saying he's a bad vocalist, but I have that DVD actually. He sounds very different and there has been some editing and tuning done to his voice as well as the instruments. It's very common for live recordings. Many bands even overdub or rerecord parts. It doesn't mean he was terrible, but I wouldn't call that a shining example of his good chops...cause it wasn't...even the finished product.

I'll still see em live every time. It's great songs and a good show!

  • @xolinius I relieved that someone that KNOWS what’s involved in the post-production (and, YES, re-recording and layering extra tracks is pretty much a guarantee) I hate it when people act like they know and then sound retarded. You, on the other hand, may continue speaking. lol

  • @blackirises yeah i agree with you!

  • @blackirises - I'm sure you're right, but that doesn't change the fact that his falsetto sound downright awful... I think I would be able to hit it just as bad ;-)

  • its surprising how much trouble tose falcettos are givin him

  • its because he's older now. His voice has gotten deeper. and if you pay close attention, its not so much the falsetto that gives him difficulty as it is the transition area between the two ranges. Its pretty common, no matter what a singer's range is, for the transition areas to be the hardest. Because his voice has gotten deeper, I think his transition area is in a different place.

  • for all u haters just try to argue with that ending...best singing ever right there

  • i think they changed to mainstream cuz raines gettin older and it would be pretty hard to sing all these falsetto songs like every 2 days

  • no, it is because they have grown.

  • When was this?

  • 2003

  • This is like reliving this summer of seeing them twice, both times front row!!! KICK ASS!!

  • Thank God for YouTube (or at least it's creators and sponsors.) I remember trying for days to get this downloaded on a dial up connection back in the day

  • I think I remember recording it onto a VHS when it was on television the first time.

  • lol don't remind me of those days

  • i'm seeing them tonight!!!

  • I get to see them tomorrow!

  • he sounds so good in this

  • I love me sum OLP, but Raine needs to work on his mic technique. The vocal suffered for it.

  • when you get older it gets harder to do the stuff you used to be able to do so well.

  • nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • F**K YEEEAHHH!!!!

  • this is like a flying fuck you to the over-rated's

  • It's not that he is a bad performer, he has just been losing his voice as he ages.

If you watch some of his live performances circa 2000 they are awesome every time.

  • you shoulda seen him in st john's in september 08 spot on vocals increidble show

  • they play live really well.

  • I've seen OLP over 10 times. Raine is hit and miss, but so are alot of singers. You sing over a hour a night, 5 nights a week, for 3-4 months straight, city to city, country to country, and then judge. A few scraggly notes for that energy and showmanship live i'll trade for an auto-tuned record every time

  • So you'd trade the energy and showmanship for the record? or did I read it wrong? By the looks of what you said you were heading the opposite way, like you rather have the raw energy and such over the album.

  • yeap that's exactly what he meant. I much prefer that over studio recordings for the same reason.

  • Alright cool. I agree. I like listening to live versions over studio as well.

  • no u cant

  • liar..

  • i love OLP but i kinda have to agree, he's not the greatest live singer

  • What??? He's a terrific singer but think of it, this has got to be one of the hardest songs to sing. I admit that he sounds pretty bad here, but he has an incredible voice.

  • i don't think you know what a hard song is.

  • What's harder to sing than this??

  • Somehow, I can get this song quite easily! (By hearing myself) But Hey! I feel like I have it pretty well, it's not THAT hard, unless you really can't go high pitch, even there, just do it lower pitched.

But he's right, there are harder songs to sing.

  • Not in the punk-pop industry... this becomes pretty much the hardest.

And listen, I can sing this song too, I can go with the high pitch tones too, but it doesn't mean it sounds good.

  • Good point, Still I was impressed about how easy it was for me to make this one sound good.

It's mostly the fact that he's got an easy voice to imitate. Try singing some thirty second to mars (first band that came to mind). If you can sing it as good as him, that's really impressive.

  • anything by jeff buckley

  • touché!

  • mgr6v382,our lady peace does not suck. They are a grunge rock/alternative band, they are supposed to sound like that. I think that they sound better live. Our Lady Peace is one of the best bands ever, live or in the studio.

  • my goal...before i die is to see these guys live

  • if you live near sarnia, ontario they are coming to bayfest this year..... so look into that

  • yeah I'm totally going.. I wish I had VIP tickets though :-( The only thing I don't like is how there opening for Stone Temple Pilots though.... So that means they wont have a big pay list :-(

  • i don;t know they will prob play for about an hour or more, fit in all their good songs : )

  • Such an amazing song. Raine's facial expressions and style of singing is so classic. Keeps me coming back for more.

  • OLP is legend already you goofs!!!

  • sooo goood

  • i saw them play last night in sydney nova scotia.. absolutely amazing.. even played some new stuff from the new album.

  • hows the new stuff sound

  • This is scary *.*

  • definately one of , if not THE most underrated bands

  • definitely THE most underrated band, at least in the US. nobody down here knows them, or if they do its for 'somewhere out there' or 'innocent,' two of their worst songs.

  • Indeed.

Over here in England they are very much unknown...they don't even know any of the songs (unless they are wrestling fans, due to Chris Benoit's theme song).

  • exactly. They should be known more especially for hit songs like "is anybody home?" and "one man army". The US should be exposed to more music from around the world. I'm from Toronto, and during the late 90's, these guys were shit.

  • Actually there are about 4 known songs by them here which is Superman's Dead, Clumsy, Somewhere Out There and Innocent..sad part is the people who know these songs don't know the band's name who plays them. I hate this country sometimes lol.

  • They are not fucking awful, I will admit this isn't their best performance but nobody's perfect, watch some of their other live vids they are awesome, by the way it should be a crime to say OLP is awful.

  • I just think in the grand scheme of things and you look at the best bands out there just now: Coldplay, Mute Math, The Killers, Kings Of Leon, Muse, Arcade Fire etc.: and you measure their songs and live performances against this, it shows OLP don't have that special something and match up. It's the same with a lot of American bands just now. The best two i.e. Mute Math and Kings Of Leon are hardly recognised and I think that's a shameful reflection on American music right now.

  • lol the only good band you listed was muse. the old our lady peace rules all the rest of that shit you call music

  • Haha! Yeah, okay. Is it because all of those bands aren't depressing enough for you? Must be.

  • shut the fuck up. you have nothing better to do than start fights on the internet over bands you dont like. and then get all statistical. most popular music now a days is shit. and your one of the pathetic fucks who is like this shitty band sold 2 million albums and thats why they rock.

    hang yourself.

    twat.

  • I think I've touched a nerve? "Hang yourself"? Do you really mean that? Do you want to talk about your problems? Must be hard having no friends and contemplating suicide all day. Listening to this mob, no wonder. Can't take the facts eh? By the way, your last sentence before the irredeemable and unfortunate "hang yourself" moment qouted an aforementioned "statistic" and eh...didn't actually make any sense. Did you leave school at 14 to jizz over Jared Leto all day??

  • no its just that your a disgrace to humanity.

pathetic, and a waste of life.

that fact is fucker, that people have different tastes in music. you obviously have bad taste in music and go along with the people who dont know what good music is. your ignorant, dumb. and all you do is intentionally start internet then whip out all these facts out of your ass like your intelligent. when really all you are is fucking pathetic.

    rot.

  • Calm down dear and take your thong out your ass. If you're saying that people have different tastes in music...why are you slagging people off for actually having different tastes? I've made no bones about the fact I think some people (ie. you) listen to, what I consider to be shit music. Everything on your channel, with the exception of the Deftones, is fucking noise. A disgrace to humanity? Away and paint your nails and finger you mommy with them.

  • lol. good one. your fucking pathetic. you comebacks make me laugh. i saw the killers on the tonight show last night and that also made me laugh. your a cunt. so is your mom. rot.

  • I realise now that you yourself have nothing good to comeback with. I used the "mom" insult, then you used it?? Lack of imangination man. Know what makes me laugh? Your mom's cunt. It looks like Mickey Rourke's armpit. Horrible. That's the only thing that looks like it's just rot. You're bringing this on yourself goth boy.

  • lol. i know not everyone in the uk is as unintelligent and pathetic as you. your a disgrace. your should probably just die. it would make the world a better place.

  • OLP are Canadian not American

  • lol quinnpie is just a lonely cunt who listens to the killers cause theyre just so amazing while starting internet fights on youtube cause he has nothing better to do.

  • shut the fuck up. who are you? you are an ignorant fuck with no taste in music or talent. the killers? seriously? are you a twelve year old girl?

    twat.

  • So let me get this straight...out of The Killers 10 million record sales over just two albums and a B-Side collection, all of those account for just teenage girls?? In Britain, folk are Killers daft. In your own country there is a massive following, worldwide there is a huge following. OLP? People stopped listening to that shit in the 90s man. Canadians account for the majority of their sales. Come join the fun gang man. Must be boring telling mum to shut up and being angry all day.

  • lol of course theyre going to sell millions. theyre on mtv and 13 year old girls see them on trl and vote cause they dont know about solid rock music like old olp. the ninetys produced great rock and now its mostly shit that idiots like you listen to.

    rot.

  • Why do you have this obsession with 13year old girls?? The fact is (if you'd look AT the facts) that in Britain the catch age of consumers of bands such as Coldplay, The Killers, KOL and Arcade Fire is between 18-35 years. You won't find that age group watching MTV here. 90s was overrated. Yes it produced Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Pumpkins, Oasis, but every decade has produced a handful of great bands. 90s also produced watered-down wannabes of those greats such as, taa daaaa, OLP.

  • i mean these guys were THE shit.

  • what do u mean by underrated?

  • It means they're not as popular as they deserve to be

  • totally agree!!.. they are way under rated then they should be... but i guess its for the best because if bands become to big they sell out for whats the popular sound at that time, and not write for there own interest.

  • i seen them live in charlottetown about 2 weeks ago !!!

  • Raine reeeally likes the sunburst acoustics, eh?

  • those acoustics are amazing!!

  • could have sworn i saw them in concert in charlottetown too aha

  • do they still exist nowadays ?

  • Yupp

  • didnt like his performance...OLP can do better

  • Raine's voice can't hit the falsetto anymore, this is as good as older era OLP songs ever sound live these days.

  • Yeah, definately sounds like he has a cold. He's really good live.

  • it sounds like the song is played at half speed. Still, awesome performance.

  • He doesn't usually sound like that. I think he had a cold or a bad throat or something.

  • oh thank goodness

  • Damn! Raine is the hotness.

  • Sweet Performance, I've been to the Hall of Fame, that would be a great place to see a concert

  • Magnificent song by a magnificent band
