I saw them live in Warrington on the day Kid A came out in 2000. I spent 4 hours waiting outside HMV in Manchester so I could buy the album first thing! Good memories.... It has aged better than the Bends in my opinion.
im sure he just means that everyone has their, own limbo they live in, perhaps an imagination of how they want their world to be, insteed of realising how to world really is. sry for my english.
Big thanks to everyone whos helping clutter the comments section with uninspired derogatory finger-pointing. It really helps distact from the music, and at the same time adds nothing significant to anything you're apparently trying to discuss. Nice job.
Kid A's a funny album; the impact was so different back in 2000 after like, two years of intense OK Computer loving. Looking back, this is one of my favourites, although comparatively understated. Relateable message, I think.
They sound good no matter what-sober, not sober, psychotic, take your pick I guess....incredible is one of the few words in the English language that come to mind when listening to these guys :-) They are ALL so f***ing WICKED at what they do!!!!
so funny. my favorite Radiohead song changes from day-to-day [throws up hands] --- maybe i should just give in and think of their music as one continual song ... and *that* will be my favorite ...
Before I read the lyrics to this, I heard "Another message I can't read" as "I'm living in a fantasy"..... which seemed appropriate, given the tone of the album.
Like, its an okay album with this song, Idoiteque, motion picture soundtrack and How to disappear completely, but otherwise, I dont really like the album.
And, all the songs on the album sound different, so why are people judging Radiohead's songs based on the albums?
People should be comparing songs, not albums. I can't find a Radiohead song that sounds the same to anything I've ever heard.
I like the song Life in a Glass House and Let Down XD
@Vincentskater1 the problem is albums are meant to be listened to as a whole, and judged likewise. Especially with radiohead, because each album is its own amazing trip.
@DDevilized I don't know, man. In Rainbows was great. Don't get me wrong. But in my opinion, it still lacked something. I think their lives have become overwhelmed by age and family. It's by no means something I shun them for. I believe their talent is still there, but their creativity has already passed its prime.
@SamiasCaesar I agree. OK Computer and Kid A (and possibly Amnesiac) represented the zenith of their career. It doesn't happen to every musician (look at Tom Waits), but I think they've gone a bit soft in middle-age.
@SamiasCaesar I have to disagree with In Rainbows. I thought In Rainbows was pretty awesome. I tend to avoid Hail to the Thief, because I don't agree with it politically, but musically it's pretty good. I'll agree that King of the Limbs was pretty underwhelming. It was pretty clear that Radiohead didn't really dedicate themselves to it like they did with Kid A or Amnesiac or, hell, In Rainbows.
I never really knew this song because whenever i listened through Kid A I just thought it was still part of Optimistic so whenever i looked at the track listing i was like wtf is In Limbo?
kid A and radiohead are the opposite of music so people who like them do not like music. they have managed somehow to replace running out of ideas with WE'RE EXPERIMENTING you dont fool me.
As good as there stuff has been to this day, including king of limbs, it lacks the magical, ethreal quality of Kid A. The music on this album is so out of this world and mind blowing it's hard to believe it was created by humans. It takes you to other dimensions. It's simply one the best albums ever created.
@GianTheMan91 I understand what you're trying to say, but how would being in limbo help? Limbo is one of the layers of hell. You can't control how you are tormented, so maybe they'll only play this song for you.
When you're high, on pot at least, Radiohead kind of lose their meaning. It just becomes an incredible trip, which I used to love. But I've since realized that listening to this music while sober is much more moving, and much more emotional. The point of Radiohead is not to listen to while high, but to become high from the music itself and truly escape all your problems without getting altered.
I wholeheartedly disagree. Whenever I am in trips, I am extremely emotional. And this song helps elate me into euphoria. when it's just weed, i delve into it. when it's something else, it uplifts me, and I contemplate the beauty that is seen so vividly in the imagination, and eventually reality.
who are you to say what happens to other people on weed?
who are you to say what the point of an artists work is? All you can do is speculate, so don't interfere with other people's experience by trying to enforce your own fucked-up reality on them [ =
@milkshakejiggle if you want to escape your problems. there is no escape and getting high helps you forget about your problems more than just being sober.
@NoSurprisesPlease0 Yeah, but your just "escaping" your problems by getting high. Your running away from the things you don't have the courage to face. People with no problems in their lives don't need to do drugs because they face their problems head on instead of running away like a coward. Drugs are the cowards way out. And I realize you said that getting high "helps", but your problems only increase during your absence away from them.
@JimmyPageMarley1 alright so let me get this straight, you have no idea what my problems are and you saying im a coward. thats pretty funny. if you were in my shoes you wouldnt be saying things like that. i get high to help myself relax and relieve stress which in my opinion is not bad at all. i know youre the kind of person who has a really good life so you shun people who have problems.
@NoSurprisesPlease0 And all I know is that you have a horrible life, but I could be wrong. Listen, everyone's lives are different. I was wrong to assume that if someone takes drugs, their life is automatically worse than what it would be if they didn't take drugs. We both have different perspectives on drugs. You seem to use drugs to help relieve stress, that by getting a high, you're "escaping" reality. My perspective is, is I have lost so many friends to drugs, that I'm totally against drugs.
@JimmyPageMarley1 well i see what you mean and im not going to judge you. because drugs arent so innocent either. but please do not judge people who you do not know. not everybody's life is perfect , and ive lost my fair share of close ones as well. we can end it at this if you would like.
@NoSurprisesPlease0 Sometimes, I wish I could get to know people on Youtube or Xbox Live or whatever, just because of how mature they seem. But alas, I cannot. Thanks for not going off like a child. And I apoligize for going on like an old man. And while I've been wasting my life writing these comments, I've listened to this incredible song like 10 times.
@NoSurprisesPlease0 I'm sorry, but unless your problems involve realizing you are an immortal demon that will soon rampage and destroy civilization (or something else big, bad, and unavoidable), saying that just makes you seem a loser.
@milkshakejiggle i dont smoke to 'escape'. it just heightens all my senses and helps me to appreciate their multi-leveled music on multiple levels. the sober mind isnt nearly as powerful. ever heard of lsd? yeah, take some of that and listen to radiohead. welcome to the first day of the rest of your life
and lol @ you lames acting like an anti-drug commercial. there is such thing as responsible use for the purposes of meditation and understanding
@sansdeity420 Ugh, again the "makes my mind more powerful" bullshit. Also, the only confirmed therapeutical use for any non-pharmaceutical drug is giving marijuana to TERMINALLY ILL CANCER PATIENTS WHO DONT EAT ANYTHING. Anything besides that makes you either a hippie or a tool. Alas, those two sometimes share similarities.
well said man. I smoke occasionally but when I do my favorite thing to do is listen to music, especially Radiohead. and of course, responsible use is the most important thing
@milkshakejiggle It's because music is a drug! A lot of people won't agree or even listen to my point of view, but music makes us feel so many different emotions and we lose ourselves in the beat or catchy rhythm, and even know all the words to at least one song! Music alters our minds and feelings and is most definately a drug whether people acknowledge it or not
@evilbelow that assumes that the concept of a drug is something that makes you feel good. Which is not. And that totally makes you look like an apologetical addict.

@K7K7K1 i always found radiohead to be a very chaotic lull, actually, very unrestful - that's why i like it.
but it is all interpretation, permeates differently for all of us.
