However, remember that there was once a limit to the value of the prize which was alowed to be given away on quiz programmes in the UK and I can't remember when this cap was lifted, but it was sometime in the 80s.

portable Tv and video recorder is not a terrible prize but it looks like it only take Hi8 tapes which means to watch a movie you'd have to copy it first.
This clip was from about 1988 or 1989 as the show had the 'Roman' style studio set and on the first episode of the 1988 series Les Dawson came out wearing a toga, has anyone seen that edition.
I just love the British version - the cheap and cheerful nature of the show (in all its reincarnations) is what makes it so special! Pure fun without the glam (unless you count Lily!)
