I think the song is about your personal dreams and aspirations...rather than a specific person she's singing to. I don't know for sure, but it makes more sense that way...to me. She talks about failing "adia", and letting her down. It's easy to let it (your dreams) go over time...which would explain the video setting with all the people just going along with life, like in the office shot...obviously not following dreams and settling for less...

I thought it was a mother daughter type of thing also, but it's not apparently.
