That's great to know but you should definitely wait until after Winter, I agree. You don't want to be getting yourself unwell in the run-up to Christmas.
to actually answer the question. I think its all nostalgia! i have quite a few, im buying all the movie line. Ans if people think im odd for still buying toys, i dont care.
I feel 12 all over again every time i still transform a new toy for the first time!
I have to say nostalgia wise it's mostly the comics I have the blinkered love for. Nothing more so than the first UK annual and Transformers #39. I will always keep them no matter what.
Nostalgia is a huge part of it for me. I don't think I would have the same love of the characters without it. Lets face it ALOT of rubbish is out there with the TF name on it :)
P.S I remember nearly all of those images... enemy within made me smile- Furman's first story :)
I think the nostalgia aspect is a huge part of this hobby, I don't think I'd be as hugely into Transformers as I am now if I hadn't have had those great experiences I had with the toys as a child. I love the Universe series, as its giving me characters I loved as a child, but re-making them into what I pictured in my minds eye as I played with G1 figures back in the 80s, and I love that feeling. I remember watching the movie on VHS 3 times in a row the first day I got it. I love those memories.
to me, the transformations themselves are just as fascinating today as they were to me as a child. And yes, the characters played a big role, although there were a lot of my toys I knew nothing about back then, so I just made up characters for them. And yes, every time I see a remake, or even an original, of a TF I had as a child, I experience a big bit of nostalgia, but it is more than that which always kept me returning to tfs. And that drinking game sounds like extreme nerdy fun :)
A lot of what you've said I agree with, I was like that as a kid too. The UK comic was the best imho.

So if you leave a place for long enough it gets demolished and moved a few yards to the left?
Interesting...

It's not just both schools and first proper workplace, but my old Uni campus is going the same way too!

It's 'A Dazzling End' from the Doctor Who series 4 soundtrack. A very good CD.
