I've been trying to find something that would fill the void left by Croooonchy stars ever since. Wayne Gretzky's Pro Stars came close but I haven't been able to get any of that since 1993. Needless to say, I haven't eaten breakfast in 18 years now.
Did you notice at the beginning that the Chef is playing around with some oven mitts, but he tosses them away before he takes the star out of oven and does not bother to use them?
1988 dude... not the 90s. The 80s dominated all industries. And to those saying it tasted like crap.. I guess you don't like Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Because that's what it tasted like. And it didn't return in 1992 :) Cereals never return 4 years later. Which is sad I'd like a lot of cereals to return, like Dunkin' Donuts cereal.
the cereal tasted like shit even as a kid i hated it, i only bought it once for the box cuz it had chef on it, I tried to tape the commercial when ever it came on and cried when i was to late lol chef is a mu' fuggin' pimp
No words will describe how sad I was about 20 years ago, when I finally figured out that they're not gonna make this anymore...... but someone turned me on to a cereal that actually comes close!.... dora the explorer cereal... except for the fact that you have to add some sugar to it.... it's got the same stars and everything!
commercial was cool(as a kid) but ceral was like shit i asked my mom to buy it once then never again...btw this was not made in 92 more like mid-late 87 or at the very latest 88 it was only around for like a year at the most
You're right, on the year. Late 87, I was in Elementary School(think 6th grade) and this stuff came out. Was actually pretty good, I thought.
Yeah, had to have been 87-88ish, as I left to go live in Japan in January 89, and was disappointed that the base commissary didn't carry Crunchy Stars.
I'm proud to say I saw these commercials on tv as a kid, and I ate that cereal! They were really good, kinda like cinnamon toast crunch but puff-shaped.
I think you are right about that Ikesgirl80, these commercials are from the very late 80s (I remember seeing them during the Super Mario Bros Super Show)
This can't be from 1992, from 1990 at least because it's Jim performing The Swedish Chef. And I think it was David Rudman who perform him in Christmas Carol and then Dave Golez and finally Bill Baretta afterwords.
Now this is a classic commercial. I am forever shamed with the curse of going to the grave without ever trying these. I can picture a ghost of the Muppett chef hitting me over the head with a rolling pin for eternity!
Ahhh man, I totally remember this cereal, it was so good, one of my favorites still to this day. I used to bug my parents to get me it every chance I get, it was awesome :D
I got great news for you!!!! You don't have to be rich... you wanna have croonchy stars right now?,.. buy a cereal called "Dora the exploror",.... its THE EXACT SAME THING without the same amount of sugar, so just put a little sugar in it!, It filled that croonchy stars void in my life!
I remember the packaging for this cereal was just as funny as the commercials. I remember there was the star maze, which consisted of a straight line running through a star. Frickin' hilarious!
I've been looking for a reference to this somewhere on the internet, this is the only one I could find, lol! The "Amazing Star Maze" is the only reason that I remember this cereal!
My girlfriend and I were trying to figure out of the name of the cereal that tasted like Cinnsmon Toast Crunch but were stars back in the 80s!! I finally found it!
This cereal was as scroomptious as it was croonchy. And it was very croonchy.

Wait. If this is from 1992, then who was performing the Swedish Chef? It sounds like Jim Henson, but it couldn't be. He passed away in 1990...

Well, another person could've done it you know.
It could've been Steve doing his voice for that one.
