Hi dude can i just say Love your drumming in fact im gona sit tommrow and try and learn that stuff :D heheh
just watching your right foot, when you hit the kick you keep the beater on the drum, i was always told that you should try and take it straight off in the same way you would with a stick hitting the snare as it can damage the sound a little,
@Trivium661 Hey man! Cheers for the response! Yeah I think it depends what kind of sound your looking for.
You can achieve a fatter, deader sound by leaving the beater in the head, or you can get a more open, resonant sound by bringing the beater off the head. There's a million different sounds you can achieve from one drum!
The recording gives me an idea of what it would probably sound like in person, I really like the bass drum! You said in one of your previous responses that it was 10" 14" and 18" is there a 10" tom too?
You're close, but wouldn't you hear the hihat hit right on counts 1 and 3? He only plays bass drum on those notes, and the 2 hihat notes come in immediately after. He's doing 32nd notes, repeating K-L-L-R-R-L-L-K then R-L-L-R-R-L-L-K.
@docterblack ... the classic Steve Gadd lick .... FLLRRLLF RLLRRLLF .... in the video this guy plays them as 32nds ...but you can play them as 16ths as well ... depending on the tempo
hey man nice work and very nice groove in this times where the speed is the maximum thing in drumming its good to see guys like u respecting the groove,,,,, keep on
It takes real skill to make 2 drums and a hi-hat sound interesting. I have a 3 drum kit and the drummers who used it think its great. Lot to be said for the 'less is more approach'.
Hey thats a cool vid response. I Like the cowbell stuff. Im really into just laying down grooves, i've never been able to do the whole 4 bass drum 16 tom stuff I'll putting up some more vids soon so keep an eye out. Cheers!
not 2 noc those 6-2-8 drum kit /w many cyms, which i hav 2 deal with evr'y wk n churh, i a basspyr & drm'r prefer U'r kit with exception of ad'n a sm fl.tom & a 13'crash/ride..i luv it! U my friend set an xsam'l. tank U fer vid!
Thanks for comment. The kit is a manu katche kit with the sizes 10'' 14'' and an 18'' bass drum, so no i didnt make the bass drum out of a floor. The recording makes the kit sound a bit naff but in the room its awsome. cheers
none of the chops that this guy is playing are difficult. but he is one awesome drummer. i'll give him that.

Lol I know, but ever since i got a double bass pedal I neglected just groovy beats and focusing on the rythm. Bad on my part :(
IWANTHOTDOG 2 years ago 3
I know my double bass just has broke recently and I forgot how much I like playing just this kind of stuff
andrewschrock1996 2 years ago
@IWANTHOTDOG
No worries man. Play some groovy doublebass stuff. Like bands such as Periphery, Animals As Leaders, Meshuggah etc.
Here's an example: /watch?v=Hzu6l5py6kI (Navene Koperweis, the drummer of Animals As Leaders)
@ Funkydrumbum: Great stuff on this video. Thanks for the inspiration!

doubles between kick and hi-hat i think
ZebraBear88 2 years ago
No, it's simply sixteenth note triplet paradiddle-diddles with the two and four played on the snare. Make sense? Real easy to do and sounds great.

2. when people refer to a 4, 5,6 and so on piece set it refers to the number of drums. cymbals dont count
