i didn't learn anything, is a trade secret how they get the boron and phosphorus into areas that small, then effectively figuring out how to position everything in there, so we are learning that a laser beams, some levitating saws , some sand turning into orange goop, then heated into a magical levitating silicon crystal, this is useless
@paulgtmovies Intel kicks AMD's asses. People always say that AMD is better bang for the buck. But if you compare the gaming performance of the AMD FX-8150 to the Intel core i5-2500k, the 2500k destroys the FX-8150. They are also about the same price.
@AntDX316 you see that bit at 0:50? That's UV light being projected onto a soluble material which causes it to be unsoluble, then etching fluid comes a long and dissolves everywhere except for where the UV light creating a mask. Finally another fluid comes along and dissolves the silicon and the mask is then removed. They do that for several layers of silicon and copper and whatnot to create tiny transistors and the circuit. The video isnt a great representation of what actually happens.
sooo we pay like 300$ for a a small bit of melted down sand cooked in sunlight and then put in a processor.. interesting.. I never knew processors were made of sand?

@arckmarou burning an image on the wafer. @0:40 photo-resist is applied then light is @beamed through a mask @0:50 then an etching solution washes away the unexposed photo-resist. leaving a layer of circuitry. Dope is built on the wafer then another photo mask process. It is repeated a few more times
Hurm...AMD had explanations going on. I prefer AMDs video for learning knowledge pertaining to CPU production. I mean seriously...I thought Intel at least thinks about stuff before doing it.
Ha-ha! Silicon is sand which is so cheap they can get by with a lot of waste. But there are so many chips made that even if some are wasted, the rest are still cheap. Literally "dirt" cheap. But they charge you an arm and a leg for the latest breed of CPU, and millions and millions of customers are more than willing to pay the price!
@acmefixer1 a sarcastic remark... when you buy intel ur not just buying a cpu, ur buying an INTEL cpu so from there point of view its just better for some reason. Intel screws people over because they have the leverage of people assuming AMD sucks because its cheaper.
just like every other name brand (billabong, Dell, EB Games... the list is massive.) thats the only thing i have against intel. greedy bastards.
The AMD one made me cry, this one didn't do a thing. I still love Intel, but the magic inside the AMD brought tears to my eyes. Especially at the end, when everything comes together and the AMD Logo is Shown. Classic and Memorable.
know why AMD goes in to dept and Intel dosnt: AMD dosnt know how to make chips fast so they figured they had nothing to lose if they tell everyone how its done
@LOLitsJono lol i guess you didnt know that amd was using intels pentium III architecture for all those 8 years. Intel and AMD among the many court cases they had: amd won the rights to the pentium III architecture(they did the same thing with previous generations like the pentium II and so on) which explains intels crappy pentium 4. Amd has been modifying the same architecture for those 8 years and guess what it was intels idea. Intel started the cpu market and amd has copied them since.
This covers essentially everything the AMD video covered. If you watch the AMD video first, then this one, it provides a very filling understanding. I myself started to get lost in the process of AMD and once finished watching this one found myself entirely satisfied hahaha. This makes the process simplistic, a perfect summary.
yeap Intel is always being very secrcy about their process. i was a L2 Process Tech. My job was to sample production wafers from the line. Load them into KLA scanners. then into special microscopes. Its is amaizing what I saw inside the chip..its like another world a third dimensioin..world...
AMD one was informative but this one gives me a quick how its done... AMD one has more infomation. THis one is much more simpler to process for people who dont like terms etc...

oh duh! i should have know that how they work... saw blades float in and lasers make a little city of copper down there... silly me... here i thought it had something to with etching and photo resistance...
the amd one was better, this one makes me feel like a mentally retarded and i need special ed, "lets go color, and make pretty pictures!" "de, de, deeee!" lol
