If only they had the full bible and not just the first three books. The torah is incomplete. If you go to Galatians in the new testament of the bible Paul talks about being freed from blood and flesh sacrifices and says that it is better to allow God to circumcise the heart of a man... to top it off unless you read the text in the original Hebrew which has a lot more words than our language we may find that they did not intend the original bris to be so severe as to remove the entire foreskin
@lana3703 I think it is emotionally dangerous to take a baby that has not developed any ego yet.. and subject them to this physical torture and mutilation. they do not have the ability to give consent.. and it seems to me that when a person is able to give consent it would be much more spiritually gratifying/rewarding to subject themself to such a thing, if at all.
The covenant is between YOU and God. Let your child decide if he wants to fulfill that covenant without taking that choice away from him. Why can you not see why your religion is violating another person's right to bodily integrity as well as his right to choose his own religion??
The absence of a foreskin doesn't make a man Jewish, that is true. But the presence of one certainly means a man is not a Jew. So Jews must circumcise their sons in order for them to be accepted into the faith, but for Gentiles, there is more to conversion than getting circumcised.
If anyone doubts the importance of circumcision in Judaism, consider that if a circumcision is considered insufficient, i.e. some foreskin remains, the boy must be cut a second time to comply fully with the convenant
@upcycle No, I'm not a rabbi. The man in this video may be one, but he is *only* one rabbi, out of the many thousands in the world. And almost none of them would share this one's view that a man with a foreskin can be a Jew - EXCEPT that Judaism says if a couple have two sons who die as a result of circumcision, they need not have their third one cut (this being a necessity when there was no way of dealing with the bleeding if boys had haemophilia).
@markmywords53 perhaps the first one that you are aware of - now that your conciousness has become awakened and your reality is beginning to shift - that has spoken out so far on public TV. How many other believe this too? And you just have not become made aware of them? During the times of racial sgegragation.. and.or slavery.. u can say majority of people thought slavery was right thing to do.. but we now know the truth about that too!
@upcycle Honestly, even if there were other rabbis who said the same as this one, they would together not constitute more than a tiny fraction of one percent of all rabbis. The Bible is clear: keep the covenant if you wish to be part of the tribe.
@markmywords53 I think this rabbi made the point very clear.. with lots of emphasis.. wether you have or don't have a foreskin does NOT have an affect of your being jewish. Makes sense to me.
@upcycle Yes, he made it abundantly clear. But the thing he communicated with clarity is his personal opinion, and not the consensus view of the Jewish faith.

The keeping of the Sabbath is far more important to Judaism than whether you're circumcised or not.

@markmywords53 Are you a Rabbi? The person speaking in this video is a rabbi.. And to my knowledge a Rabbi is THE AUTHORITY on the jewish faith.

@markmywords53 "Judaism says", Who is Judaism. Is Judaism a Rabbi?

@upcycle "a Rabbi is THE AUTHORITY on the jewish faith"
Correct, his "authority" is above everything and everyone, even "God" since only his interpretation of "God's" word is valid.

@markmywords53 well according to this Rabbi.. your jewishness is not dependent on whetert a person has or does not have a foreskin.

@upcycle This is just one rabbi. The vast majority of the world's rabbis would disagree with him.
