Ummmm a LS6 is a 454 solid cammed that was rated at 450, LS5 hydraulic cammed 454's were rated at 390. 396's I beleive were 375 HP max. Not saying thats what this car makes cause you can tell its more than 375 for sure, and is a nicely done car.
This video is a great example or reasonable horsepower numbers. They claim 450, and the car actually boogies away when opened up. Youve got to love all the supras and Hondas with "900" horsepower out there that would get smoked by this measly 450 hp car.

@franklin29412 old chevrolet rally wheels with the "turbine" centercaps, dont know if they are original to that car considering its an "ss". the ss was more popular with the 5 spoke rims. but rallys did come on them. more on the malibus

@AverageGamezzz Not a gear head, and someone may correct me, but in carburated engines, it has to "breathe" so that sound you hear are the gasses still in the exhaust getting sucked back in and then, obviously, being pushed out the tail pipes. But again, someone smarter may correct that.
The vehicle in which the camera man is filming from seems to be a 95-99.5 GMT400 platform, Chevy/GMC Truck, or SUV. GMT400s are from 88-98(half of 99) for 1500,2500,3500s, and up to 01 for just 2500 and 3500s. The black plastic mirrors and that newer style dash tells me its a 95-99, most likely a half ton truck or Tahoe/Yukon. Has a 5.7l 350 Vortec, probably a 10 bolt rear end, 4l60e transmission, np243 transfercase.
I get chills everytime I hear a car like this. My uncle owns a 1969 buick skylark that he let me drive down the street (His street is about a mile and a half) and I might of gotten it up to like 65-70 ( didn't want to go too fast, there are about 3 police officers that live on his street) and oh my god it was like the best 10 minutes of my life.
Not a gear head here... but I had a 69 ss 396 years ago. You can't beat a chevelle . when that 4th barell holey kicks into gear it is like cumming into a french whore. Oh yeah...!
Sorry buddy, my friend had the same as you and my stock '93 Formula Firebird could just walk away from him. 0-35 was close but as soon as I hit second gear it was all over. Gotta admit though, driving that 396 was a kick in the ass!

I bought this car back in 2009 and still own it. I've added a lot to it mostly stock parts to keep its 1970 look. Added a Aluminum Tech radiator, cast aluminum water pump and SS wheels. I striped the interior and added fat mat extreme sound proofing.I also added two 12" subs and a amp in the trunk. I have the dash out now replacing a blown Ammeter and printed circuit. Won Best in Show at 3 car shows and many top 20s. As you can see I didn't really need to modify the engine, just made it cooler.
@snaped2 i cant believe you would ruin that car with taking out the original interior and not at least replacing it with OEM stuff. And that subs and amp...just stupid sad, pathetic and a disgrace. you should be shot in the head
