a doge 3500 is no real dodge. thats just truth. even if the it could take down the tree, its still new garbage. i've had at least 11 dodges. i love them incredibly. right now i have 6. my 75 trailduster with a 318 and 4 speed manual trans could destroy a new thing that gets named dodge. and toyotas still rock. they out do dodges in so many ways, and vice versa. they are both great to have. and any stock 79-86 toyota could out romp ANY stock american vehicle.
my friend has a Dodge 3500 Cummins, with stacks. its a real nice truck and could outdo just about any other truck out there, but, he only has it cuz he wrapped the old 2500 around a tree, brush guards don't do a whole lot when that happens, and Toyotas tend to be better in mud because of their weight, but a Cummins will haul any truck around and is a great workhorse on the farm
oh yea they are the best diesel ive ever seen. i mean u just type in Cummins and u see vids where they can outpull any truck, and outrace any supercar. but my friend has one and says they arent that great in the mud cuz of their weight, but he had an old Toyota pickup and that was great in the mud. im saving up for one right now, cant wait to get it

My 1986 22R 4WD still runs great at just over 375,000km . 2engine rebuilds, 2 tranny rebuilds. All you gotta do is take care of your baby. 91 Box, and 89 4runner fender haha.Everything else is all Toyota on my truck.

I have a 1992 2WD w/ the 22RE, only 111K on it so far. Has proven to be reliable. It was apparently rolled and rebuilt before I got it 12-1/2 years ago. I do oil changes at about 5000 miles, or whenever I get around to it. Have not been brave enough to try 110, but did hit 95 the other week; can't recommend it, though. It gets about 25-27 highway, starts right up after sitting for months in the winter (I'm in North Dakota)...

3rz-fe, I've read it's essentially just a larger (2.7l) version of the older indestructible four cylinder. (Minus distributer, etc) It's pretty thirsty and seems to get the same mileage as a V-8 (~21 MPG) But I didn't buy it for that!
i don't have an 82 toyota... this is an 81, and i never said it was a 22re. always said 22r. and from what i know, 75-80 were 20r's, then 81-90 something 22r CARBURATED, with the option from 84 or so to be fuel injected until 92 atleast. i don't know when they stoped using the 22r type thing though. but my friend has a 22r in his 87. not a 22re. but from like 86 and on the block was different on the 22r. i also have a 79 toyota with a 20r.
i own a 1992 pickup 2wd 22re with 408,000 miles and it still runs like a champ and can still bury the needle at 110mph lmao but yes change the oil and they can hit 500k miles easy and many do.
hey, just wondering how often do you change the oil. the toyota recomended 10,000 miles, or the american style 3,000. i notice that all the people i talk to seem to do the 3,000 thing, and i think if i had one on the road i would go for the 10,000 mile change. toyota recomended. i could be wrong about it, but i'd still try it.

there were no brakes, the clutch pedal didn't work, it was stuck in second, and it was only running on 3 cylinders. and all the tires were way to big for it. all he did was hold the pedal to the floor, and try to go crazy with it. proboly more then most people would do. Thanks!
