  • Since top master luthier Michael Voltzs left Gibson and joined Epiphone in 2001 his main goal has always been to make Epiphone once again a great guitar company. Today Voltzs had most certainly done that And more. Most of today's Epiphone Sg's - Lp's - Flying V's - Dots - casinos and a few more are Top professional quality and every bit Gibsons equal and better. And its because or Mike Voltzs we can say that today with 100% truth and fact! Thanks again Michael Voltzs for making Epiphone great!

  • Damn, thats some OUSTANDING playing!!!!!!

  • Epiphone V over Gibsons any day!

  • Fantastic tone. Nice playing too. Serious Amp, was it expensive?

  • @sparky191 Thanks sire, this is a homemade amp...a jtm 45 clone...

  • Hi, May I ask is that guitar neck heavy when standing up? I'm wanting to buy a flying v, and thinking of the epi 58 model, but wanted to see if it's neck heavy? I've had a couple gibson v's that were neck heavy and it drives me nuts..

    Thanks

    Tim

  • @SeymourHoosierDaddy it is pretty light allround

  • Could you tell me what backing track or song are you using there? Awesome video, awesome sound, awesome guitar and awesome playing.

  • very good !! Rory Gallagher's touch in the sound too !

what's your amp and your setting ?

    thx !

  • @geordie54 Thank you, sire...the amp is a jtm 45, a home-made one ... I cannot remember the settings vibe ... all the best.

  • What pickups did u put in this? Im thinkin about buying one of these!

  • @mrtwitchylizard These were '70's YAMAKI Pafs from a nice but cheap LP copy I have.....not available any more.....not sure who made them at the time....all the best....

  • @skaboosh Thank You I figured they were something based around a PAF. Im very close to pullin the trigger on one of these and then Ill drop in some kind of pickups that are based on a PAF. Once again thanks for the quick reply and I wish I had the tone you have in this video...kinda jealous!

  • Great sound, I wish I could play like that! I have one of those korinas, and it bothers my joints.(fibromyalgia) It's wide but thin, and I hate that! I play "baseball bats". My G-400 SG has a comfortable neck. I kept the'v' because it looked cool. I'm lookin' forward to checkin' out your other vids.

  • @MrNashguitar1 The neck on that guitar, (I think a copy of a 58?) was actually quite fat...the guitar was great....pissed that I sold it really....thanks for the comms...all the best. R.

  • This epi lp standard plus top or jackson flying v can't decide

  • Great tone, great vibrato too!!

  • That neck looks very thick. I was looking to buy this but my hands are pretty average. Is the neck actually thick or do you just have small hands?

  • @Slash85350 The neck on the 58 Korina V is very thick.

  • I LOVE YOUR AMP SETUP. WHAT IS IT?

  • never, EVER heard an epiphone sound so good. nice playing too

  • great sound and really nice playing mate

  • bugera head?

  • IS THE NECK THICK?

  • nobody plays any Husker Du covers on these guitars. Bob Mould is one of the greatest v players around.

  • did you change the pickups if so what are they ?

  • @modernworrior idk it looks like he took the plate over the pick up's off and sometimes that makes the pick up's sound different

  • did you change the pickups if so what are they ?

  • did u change the pickups if so what are they ?

  • I just ordered one of these and I'm waiting for it to come. From what you're doin it looks awesome and the sustain sounds amazing. My only concern is, are the stock pick-ups any good?

  • @ProphecisedHero Yes, evrything about this guitar is amazing.

  • Sweet, bro. I can listen to you play all day.

  • I recognize that backing track:D

Definitely from an Aebersold book. Nothing but the blues. Mr. Super hip?

I have two saxophone jams on my page over some of these tracks. They're fun haha.

How is this guitar? It seems great! Unless you have some sort of sustain pedal on that thing then I might just get it based on only the amount of sustain haha. (I'm thinking of this or the korina explorer for my next guitaR)

  • very nice video great sound! i am noticing that epiphone flying v users actually use these guitars as they were intended-hard rock! instead, most gibson holders play metal crap on this great instrument

  • I have a Gibson flying V and I would like to ask you :

Is your flying V significantly louder than your other guitars? unplugged?

I am just curious because mine is quite loud and wonder if all of them are like that. Body is very light. Thanks!

  • @edwardtang1977 I sold it, but I remember it was pretty loud acoustically....great guitars! cheers

  • @skaboosh an mp3 player microphone can pick it up even over loud singing

  • @edwardtang1977 Hi, I have one of these, and it's very loud unplugged. I want to buy a Gibson this year if I can manage the money.

  • nice playing

great tone keep it up man : )

  • супер!!

  • Wow that was great!! Awesome feel in your playing!!

  • wat kind of amp do u have?

  • this amplifier is a home made jtm45.

  • hey man... you ve changed the original pick ups right? what are they?

  • HI, these were Jap Pafs from a mid 1970's Yamaki Les Paul.

  • this is fuckin awsome i love it

  • lovely laid back bluesy playin, love it!

  • Awesome playing ...sweet axe !

  • It's not realy guitar for blues....

  • It's not neccessarily the guitar, but how you MAKE it sound. He does a fantastic job of making this particular guitar bluesy...I mean, Albert King used one, so...

  • you can use any guitar for any music

  • I guess Albert King wasn't a blues player. Flying Vs original came out in 1958, long before they became associated with hard rock and metal. Its about the player not the guitar. If BB king wanted to get down a BC rich, he would still sound like BB king

  • doesnt it slide off your lap when you play

  • @MrAlfredocolon not if you hold it right

  • it has a rubber piece on the side i believe to create friction

  • ooooooooooooooooooh thats awesome

  • awesome job! keep up the awesome work! I've been really wanting that guitar for my birthday. Is it a good deal?

  • I need that pick ups right now

    nice video (Y)

  • what pickups are in this flying v?

  • Yamaki pafs

  • wat amp nd cab do u use???

  • This one was a home made Marshall jtm 45 in an old sound city box...with a late 1970's Park 4x12 containing celestions.....

  • This one is probably beefed up with some other pickups.

  • your guitars a beauty

  • Man, you are doing a great job there, and that guitar sounds really great to me.really sweet sounding video

    Addie from Slovakia

  • Nice job. Plus I love the fact that you use A LOT of Gilmour's licks. I don't know if those are intentional but it gives a great sound while improvising or jamming.

    PEACE

  • how much did the guitar cost u man?

    please reply back

  • HI...sorry I do not remember, I bought it off ebay and sold it on ebay...but I made a big loss on that one....

  • bought it yesterday for 450 euros

  • how is it? Good?

  • yeah man, its pretty comfy when i play it that way

  • A new one is about 560 $

  • I have a flying v korina, the best guitar i've ever seen. nice video

  • WOW GREAT SOUND!!!

    NICE PLAYING!!!

  • You think the Flying v is more comfy then a Les paul?

  • Les Paul is definitely more comfy than a V, imo.

  • What about a Epiphone les paul ultra or the Epiphone flying V Korina 58 Ebony?

  • Sorry, I have no idea.....best you try them out.... it's all subjective anyway...

  • Okay thanks anyway...

  • what about playing sitting with strap on, pretty comfy when i play that way:P

  • its hard to play a V sitting down, but the thing i dont like about les pauls is there heavy, and the bridge and pickups get in the way when your trying to pick.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice! I've been watching / listening over and over. Great playing, sound, everything...

  • Anyone that has guitar doubts like what pick-ups,tuners,body,necks,yea rs,just and u dont have to subscribe to me,I'm Doing it because i want to help people.

    contact me...

  • Nice man! Love your fat sound! Keep up the good work! ;)

  • I really like the sound you get out of this, especially with it just on the verge of feedback. I think your phrasing is good too . I don't agree with the earlier comments about learning more scales and using your little finger. It isn't a guarantee of anything. George Benson and Gary Moore are incredible players and they hardly ever use their little fingers...on the other hand there are loads of technically great players who are incredibly boring ( shredders mostly).

  • are those the included pickups w/o the covers or entirely new ones?

  • Hi, these pickups are 30 odd years old, so I'm guessing when I say they come without covers....because I have seen two pairs and both did not have covers, doesn't mean they didn't come with covers, it's just a hunch I have...

    thank you

  • thanks. but i was talking about the pickups included with the guitar. for those, were they so bad you took them out, or are they ok?

  • I never saw the original pickups, so I have no idea how those sounded, this guitar had something like a seymour JB and some other pickup in it when I bought it, and so I changed those out - I didn't like those pickups in this guitar for some reason.....sold this guitar for a pittance and miss it occasionally....

  • whats the amp

  • jtm45

  • is it a ceriatone kit?

  • No, it was something I put together from various sources, I think a Ruby board, marstran OT, Marshall PT and choke, some pots and parts from Ceriatone as well tho' etc etc

  • I used to have hope that I could play guitar really well one day and be one of the best guitarists around ( just like everyone else lol ) , then I heard you play and I'm like...ok I quit. LOL

  • i know ur kidding, but keep at it. its almost impossible, unless someone totally has no talent, to not get better as u progress. i can hold my own at a jam session, but im way far from being super amazing. it all comes in time

  • a tip u probly already know: rememebr to work on ur baby finger and learn scales, if u dont ur fucked like me :) lol, good luck with guitar, im sure ull be good soon :)

  • id say hes pretty decent now......

  • Incredible tone! How would you say Korina wood compares to mahogany?

  • excellent video! can you tell mi if the guitar has 2 tone control and a master volume, or if they are 2 volume controls and a master tone?thanks..

  • my jazz instructor erwin stuckey kinda hates it when i run through blues scales but cant help it im a blues teen

  • its a huge guitar

  • it has incredible sustain!!

  • that's mainly because of the string-through-body style of the bridge.

  • brilliant playing. Gibson/Epi should be paying you to demo their stuff - you're a pretty strong argument in their favour. ;)

  • congratulation

  • Very awesome dude

  • Thanks Dude, appreciated

  • man, i LOVE your tone, its hot. and i wanna try one of these out sooo much

  • Comment removed

  • Which pickups do you use??

    Seymour duncan?? Sh1 , Sh5,,that's it???

    Ahhh and

  • These were Yamaki pickups...from the mid seventies.

  • "Major neck to it"...?

Is that a good thing? Or a bad thing...? Because I'm thinking of getting one.

    Awesome playing though.

  • Thanks man...

yep, a big fat 1958 neck profile is a GREAT thing...for me...but not if you like a slim neck...it's a very subjective thang...

    all the best

  • I seriously don't know what to think.

I use a BC Rich Warbeast at present, and I've used a Strat replica to learn on, so I think my guitars have an average neck in terms of thickness and stuff.

Meh, I should try it first, but there aren't many music stores around Liverpool and Southport... (Yes, I am British.)

  • My best advice I can give is: please take your time, do not rush into any purchase

there are flying V's with a smaller neck profile, this 58 reissue type guitar has a very fat neck....I personally think it gives more tone and more control...but it is definitely subjective...

yes, take your time, try a few different ones out, not just the 58 spec....it's worth the journey to visit a good guitar shop or two a few times...imo

    good luck....

  • I'm going to be playing things like Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera and stuff, but also play Blues, Jazz and things like that. The guitar sounds great, but is it any good for shredding?

  • ermmm....I'm not a shredder really, but I would say go for a model with a slimmer neck for shredding....imho....

then get the guitar set up with a nice even and low action...

    all the best

  • Thanks, I'm not much a shredder either, I'm just curious to know if it is capable of shredding.

    All the best to you.

  • Yes, the V is a major shredder. Kirk Hammett, Rhandy Rhoads, Dave Mustaine, and Toki Wartooth (from Metalocalypse) all use some type of V and they all sound amazing!

  • musaine uses a dean tho and they are completely different to gibson/epiphone ones

  • i want thar guitar soooo bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! it looks like the real one except for the epiphone... hahha , take care of that guitar man is beautiful!!!! and sounds awesome

  • i wana get an epiphone v, but i cant find many different ones im not a fan of that pine korina one :( tje gothi v seems nice, u play aweso btw

  • Im selling mine on Ebay right now wtih a gibson 80's pink faux fur lined case, check it out

  • hey man is it worth

buying cause im thinking of gettin one

but like do u need to guy a custom case

or like is it just cool with a normal

are humbukers better pickups than normal'

wha colour are all the tuning knobs and stuff

  • um, skaboosh great vid but is the flying v really hard to play sitting down? i tried it and just wasnt able to.

i want to get a v but i really want to know if its hard to play it sitting down cuz if it is i ll get some other guitar

  • Hi, thanks, yep, it is tricky in a way, you can straddle the V over your leg OK but it sits at a funny angle, some will find it ok and some won't, it's a suck it and see situation. All the best.

  • did u change the pickups?

  • Thanks, yep, Yamaki pickups installed in this axe.

  • sounds DAMN good!

  • Hey man! Nice one!

I have the same guitar, yr technic combined with those caps you´ve put reminds me of David Gilmour´s bends!! With nice blues riffs!!

    Great and keep up!

  • I have the same guitar. If you guys have questions you can ask me.

  • Great guitar it sounds very good and you're a pretty good guitarist. May I ask you how much does it costs and is it a great quality/price balance if you consider this guitar pretty heavy?

  • Hi, thank you. Ermm, I got mine second hand ages ago and probably paid £250 or some similar amount...I then sold it on ebay with no reserve and it went for £80. I thought I could whip out the auction at the last day but they changed the rules without my knowledge and so the auction ran on....... a cruel but useful lesson......always put a reserve on your auction....

  • I like old blues(Cream,Albert King) and metal, this guitar is ok?I like easy to play's guitar and my hand is not too big.

  • I just bought one of these guitars.

  • nice vid, i am looking to buy a new guitar and am researching as much as possible. Also it's cool that you respond to people who comment:)

  • Hi, which song is on video please?

  • how does a flying v feel sitting down?

  • How thin is the neck and is this guitar neck heavy

  • neck is/was ( i sold it) pretty FAT and the guitar was pretty neck heavy if I remember correctly. Cheers.

  • Yamaki were a 1970's brand of guitar that made copies of Gibsons, Martins etc

  • very cool man ! :)

  • That's Francisco Meza's guitar :D

  • how long have you been playing I might switch to jazz and get myself one of those guitars awsome playing by the way

  • Thanks man, I am an old old git and I have been playing since i was 14, so a long time.....cheers, my man...take it easy

  • cool did you change the pickups in the guitar or were those stock?

  • Yep I did change them .. ,these were Yamaki pickups.

  • nice.

  • look my gibson flying v red cherry 2008

  • nearly 10,00 views and not one rating?

There I fixed that for ya.

  • is it just me or is the neck a bit heavy?cuz when i play standing the neck ALWAYS falls down.should i use a leather strap for more grip or a regualr nylon one?please help me

    thanks in advance

  • Yep, it is neck heavy and weird to balance...but I think I moved the strap button somewhere else to help stability, cannot remember exactly but you could try that.... a wide leather strap may move less, but it'll still be pulling away so that's only a half measure.... try moving the button in my opinion, but that's just my opinion.....I sold my V ....

  • My opinion is that ephiphones are better than gibsons

  • Pretty much mine too. £225 Eppy is same as £675 Gibson.

  • Not low end epiphones or even mid range epiphones. But high end epiphones like the Elitist series can compete and are said to be as good as many Gibsons.

  • What amp are you using?

ps. great playing and awesome vibratos. 5/5

  • how much was it?

  • I can't remember what I paid, it was second hand, around £250 stirling, I think, and I sold it on ebay with no reserve for a shockingly low price,, we live and learn, hopefully....

  • how expensive was it

  • is the sound close to the gibson?

  • generally yes, the Korina Epiphones are really good....very comparable to the standard gibson range in my opinion...

but it's all so personal and subjective

  • thats my x-mas present!.....hopefully..

  • good luck...

  • Very nice vibrato. That guitar doesn´t look or sound like epiphone at all.

  • im about to buy a guitar and this one is interesting me,

is there double volume control ? i really need one

  • one volume for each pickup.

  • thx it s exactly what i need :D and keep up rocking :D

  • What pickups???

  • I think those were original YAMAKI pickups I got out of an old Yamaki LP. I saw two sets and I would describe them as looking much like a Schaller version of the superdistortion by Di Marzio....two height screws on one side and the allen key studs. Medium/hot output & not very bright.

  • DAM!

I thought they were gibson 57 classic pups!

  • what pickups

  • nice flying v

  • great! you are a Albert King disciple? you amp looks good! great

  • magic man

  • Is this a good sweep guitar?
