She has a gorgeous voice but she doesn't sing properly, i believe. It's not technically worked out. It's a shame because it's a loss of a potentially great voice and her expression seems sincere and vulnerable. I really want to like her. I hope that her agent reads this and sends her to the best technician to develop that voice properly.

She can't hold a note for more than a few seconds, constantly breaks the melody to breathe, and her voice is too dark for Violetta. She was great in Don Carlo, though.

I think I loathed the Zeffirelli staging just about more than any other opera productions I have ever seen. In particular that ludicrous change of scene in the last act. Just the producer drawing attention to himself. Yuk!

i know it sounds a bit harsh, but i wouldn't buy tickets to listen to poplavskaya. i'm not saying anything bad about her technique, i just don't like her voice in general.

@silvija73 Interesting. I've heard the voice isn't truly large enough to sing in some Verdi roles (better Violetta than Elisabeth, though, I suppose) but the tone doesn't bother me too much.
