  • Thank you for this epic upload, it's really enlightened me and it was very worthwhile to watch after a day's sick off school. I think it's quite cruel how she abandoned her litter on an abandoned cleanup tug boat and then went past The Zone of Alienation to find a loving home. Shame that those kittens may be no longer :(

  • thx for this man i needed it for a project on the nuclear disaster 5 stars

  • what an amazing documentary <3

  • i thought bears could climb?

  • For me this video shows the true side of radioactive materials, yes radioactivity is dangerous, but just because you have a few extra gamma rays being emitted here and a couple of extra alpha particles hitting you there doesn't mean the end of the world, people can't live there because it may cause tumours and a few extra mutations, not because its hell on earth... thankyou for showing people the true side of radiation (and maybe if we get another fukushima the world won't go mad...)

  • People keep commenting on how they don't mention the affects on the gene pool....but watch the whole thing all parts and he does. If you think about it logically, they can't do too much testing because they can't touch the animals or draw blood from them. And only some photographers are crazy enough to go in there and film.

  • Amazing I loved this

  • 3 people got chased by a bear

  • Really weird documentary. Seems remarkably light on any of the negative impacts of the radiation on those animals. What's it trying to say? Radiation is ok... Chernobyl has kittens??

  • @vwilsonuk its just showing that without humans nature thrives in any situation

  • I love this cat, you made it home girl.Your safe now pretty little thing.

  • We are too scared of what we've created and no human wants to live in that zone, we scared of evolution and mutation. i dun find a good use of another penis or an extra arm.

  • Too bad the cat's new family will be getting a decent dose of radiation themselves....

  • @PocketDrummer It's a fucked up world eh?

  • uplifting and saddening at the same time... not to sound like a hippy but the footprint that humans is leaving is deeply concerning. sad to see the lack of humans could mean such a sanctuary for animal life.

  • That was a very interesting look at Chernobyl. I think it's totally amazing that all of those animals are thriving in such a toxic environment. I found it up lifting but very sad too. It will be very interesting to see how the radiation will impact the animals in and the environment as time passes.

  • @LLJtbone Not toxic.

  • @TheQwetyu How is it not toxic after all of that? That's good but I am curious.

  • @TheQwetyu Radiation is not a toxin. The particles produced ionise matter and cause it to become cancerous or mutate but it is not "toxic".

  • Wow! Great documentary! It's interesting that the animals aren't "glowing in the dark" as would have been supposed! Did the media blow THIS ( The "horrific affects of the radiation" ) all out of proportion like they do everything else???Hmmmm!

  • 3:38 hahahaaaa! i loled so chuffin hard!

  • it made me cry xD. I am so sensitive when it comes to such animal-related stories ^^

  • I simply LOVE cats! Such adorable and wise animals!

  • How did the house burn down then reappear later? lol The filmmakers faking the fire was unnecessary.

  • Great documentary, though I'm a bit surprised there is no discussion on however the radioactive animals could spread their set of genes should they mate with healthy animals outside of the radioactive zone.

Doesn't that seem kind of important? What if the wolf finds a female outside of the zone and mate, how far could the "radioactive genes" spread?

  • Aw, the mother house cat finally found a new home again just in time for winter. So cute. I hope shes still there staying warm beside the fireplace as we speak. ^__^

  • I liked this documentary but enough with the radioactivity and i swear that's Edward scissor hands music in there somewhere

  • Great documentary I really enjoyed watching it

  • Thanks for uploading this fascinating documentary!

  • I would like to keep that radioactive kitty and name it plutonium!! :D

  • If we humans had 'done our best' to destroy nature in the Zone we'd have left nothing but a 30 square kilometer glass crater. True story: humanity always wins.

  • @Pyramidhead1337 Not always.

  • @EvolutionOfAceMonkey No organism known to science is a better predator than humanity. There is nothing on the planet we can't kill. And with properly placed devices we could destroy the planet.

There is no instance in all of human history when nature has ever defeated us. Our history is one of victories over our natural enemies. We wield fission as a weapon; the power of the *sun*. We can transmute elements up and down the periodic table. We've been to the moon and back.

    We *always* win.

  • @Pyramidhead1337 I read somewhere that the nuclear waste still inside of the reactor could destroy Europe should it be released. And the sarcofagus built to protect the core is well. Rusty.

  • @CHAIRSANDBEARS your not rusty

  • @CHAIRSANDBEARS They are building a new one on top of the old one that should last for another 100 years.

  • @Pyramidhead1337 what about the situation in japan right now? would that not be a "slight" defeat?

  • @XeloX2 No, actually. I'd consider it a victory for the human spirit over terrible adversity.

Japanese people are *going back to work*. In those reactors a team of 50 god-tier badasses are doing their duty, keeping them from going critical and protecting the lives of thousands. Manliness.

Japan is not proof of nature's mastery over us. It is proof that even when nature throws its all at us, Youmanity stands its ground. We mourn. We pick ourselves up. And we rebuild. Adversity begets strength!

  • nice story thx for the upload

  • Aww..... this documentary was so beautiful and emotional!

The mother cat and her kittens were so cute!

  • For all you people saying fake.

They were filming in the dead zone.

The dead zone it not just the reactor but miles around which is the dead zone. It's also called the dead zone because no people live there and it's a dead civilisation. However we do not class animals as people, but it is now wilderness.

And about the filming of the animals would have taken weeks and months to film, nut the use trap cameras, these will only go off when something walks in front of it.

    So anybody saying fake stil

  • @Turricann its fake in the sense that the animals seem to just happen cross paths. also the barn burning down must have been planed. i dont doubt that its in the zone at all tho

  • @Turricann yeah the dead zone is as big as 1100 square kilometers And fukushima will be 5 to 10 times bigger real nasty

  • 4:11, why do I think those are so cute? xD

  • This is fantastic. Thanks for this, I had no idea there were trees and animals thriving in this area, I am amazed..

  • awesome documentary but i think some of the scenes might be faked too, the fire and maybe even the bear being in the house, he could have been lured there with some food. the cat was probably stolen from that house and left in the zone to be followed back home lol

regardless i liked it a lot and would love to visit chernobyl, im a stalker fanatic and a world without people sounds great :) i wonder how radioactivity affects internet conenctions :p

  • what a stud that wolf is at 6:50

  • Nice Documentary! Thanks for upoading!!

  • This was a wonderful documentary. Thanks for posting it. On the one hand you can't help but be amazed at the reclamation of nature. On the other hand, there's such a cloud over this beauty, lurking beneath.

  • I think who filmed created most of the things shown: fire in the house, the bear into the house, death animals, etc. But i like it.

  • @Abbakus79 I DON'T LIKE FAKES!

  • @girlsinnappies Even a movie is "fake". It's fiction. Don't you like movies?

  • Thanks for this documentary:)

  • Epic trully epic....

  • @TheTwoHunters TRULY FUCKING FALSE!

  • I love cats I want a chernobyl kitty I'll give it a nice home poor wild radioactive kittys all alone

  • These radio-active animals seem to be doing pretty good to me.

  • @f3hdemon Humans fear radiation but its stupid really. Nature can overcome anything. Man kinds biggest mistake was forgetting that we are part of nature.

  • I lol'ed at the porn music when the wolf found his mate.

  • What a wonderful documentary! Both tragic and inspiring in sense of life itself. Really enjoyed this! Thank you for posting this.

  • Man it's stuff like this that begs the question, why the hell would anyone ever want to use a nuclear weapon these days. Nuclear weapons these days are equal to the power of 10 chernobyl's. why would you want to do that to the world just to prove a point???

  • @roryos

The comparison of power isn't entirely relevant. They express power in different ways. And humans fight. It's how we operate. Nukes are the biggest weapon we can bring to bear. Having nukes is pretty much the ultimate deterrent, politically.

  • Beautiful film/documentary... sad, but true. It was cool to see the nature taking the lead after the human mistake. :)

Also, a particular song in this, really looked like Edward Scissors hand main theme song made by Danny Elfman. x)

  • Love this documentry, REALLY interesting!

  • thnx so much for uploading this i really liked it :D

  • wow it was very interisting. the kittens are so sweet ;(

  • heartwarming about the cats first owners didnt come back at the start but at the end she finds a new home

  • The kitties made me sad. BTW: how many times did the narrator say "radioactive?"

  • so that person wants to own a radioactive cat

  • Hate to think what'll happen to the owner of the radioactive cat.

  • high radioactivity exists much further than the Zones limits. i'm prety sure that the persons who live there are aslo radioactive.

  • Excellent documentary. Thanks for uploading!

  • Very interesting documentary definitely worth watching. Cats are fascinating animals

  • Wow! Animals can live better in radiation, then in harmony with people.

  • What happend with cats?

  • one died got eaten by bird others lived

  • i was talking about little cats who left alive.Their mother is a bitch

  • u mean when the mom cat and two young kittens found that ship and lived there ? Well those two "kittens" they got more bigger and mom had to left them so they live alone and hunt alone , cats are not like humans they dont live in family , when kittens grow up they go theyr way , the mom cat goes her way

  • thanks for answer.. maybe the cats don't live in familiy but lions does

  • why ur camparing lions to cats , lions cant live in cold , lions are bigger , and they need each other to hunt big animals....Cats can eat little animals to survive they dont need whole group to hunt lol...

  • and that cat 3:38 got nailed by bears feet + nails...And i think she got serious injurie , well they didint show if the cat died or not...But i think they did die

  • no its nature :/

  • ur absolutely right thats good idea my friends brother is creator of fallout gonna say him that.....maybe they will make it about chernobyl lol

  • The next Fallout game should be in Chernobyl.

  • @residentevil4freek You guys do realize there's a game called Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, right? It's the first one of three games that came out, the most recent one is called Call of Pripyat. They're amazing games that I recommend looking into sometime. Very immersive and atmospheric, and downright creepy when you reach the dead city..

  • I wonder if the new owner knows that the cat is radioactive...?

  • Nuclear power obviously isn't as dangerous as we thought. Now it is just a nice nature preservation area.

  • still, people we no longer live there.

  • this was fucking awsome , i wonder if this cat is still alive :O

  • I'd love to live there if it wouldn't kill me such a beautiful place

  • 3:59 lolz the sun got a face

  • What a beautiful documentary. Thanks so much for uploading this. 5 Stars.

  • ur right..and this was the best documentary i´ve seen of pripyat/pripyat woods

  • This is one of the coolest and most well-told and edited documentaries i hvae ever seen...

  • @kimiwersen THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THIS ARE FUCKING CUNTS & DIDN'T EVEN FILM IT IN THE DEAD ZONE!

  • Does anyone know if you can buy this?.. Perhaps in Blueray.? I would really enjoy having this documentary..

  • shwantz2, well, it depends for how long you are in contact with a contaminated cat, it would harm you if you decide to adopt it; but otherwise it won't do much harm. Yes, radiation spreads but it also dissipates, so 2nd hand and 3rd hand exposure is much less dangerous. I would be a lot more cautious when dealing with chemicals - household cleaning supplies, soaps, etc. A lot of them have higher cancerogenic effects than radiation.

  • What are ramifications of the contaminated cat in contact w/ humans? Radiation spreads. The parents touching children, children going to school, teachers going to conference in UK, etc.. etc..

If you work at nuclear plant & become contaminated, you cant leave until you are clean. Clothes become radioactive waste. Your wedding ring? Confiscated & disposed of. You scrub your skin raw until you are not contaminated.

If the hogs roam outside dead zone & are hunted, eaten....what happens?

  • I love the discovery channel. when they do programs like these on interesting topics, they are always first rate!

  • omg poor kitten in part 3 snif...snif

  • This document was awesome to watch. Sad, but really awesome. Fresh, nature, filled with radioactivity. I want to visit there :c

  • Thanks for uploading, Volum321!
