It would be awesome if he was just like this in court, and when asked to present his case he just said, "Your honor...I'm Jim 'THE HAMMER' SHAPIRO!!!"
...and then the judge would be like, "That's good enough for me! Court finds in favor of the plaintiff."
i think this man should take up a career as a professional wrestling manager. he'd be up there with the Heenans and Cornettes of the world as far as generating heat is concerned.
Yeah, that was somethin' else! I don't think he was ever quite as nuts as he was in that commercial. If you watch them in order, he gets progressively more intense. Video #5 is a little more tame than this one, though. This one is my favorite for sure!
I am the one who had the "good" fortune to edit most of Jim Shapiro's spots from 1995-1996; this series, plus the others with accident animations, american flags, sirens, etc. Hard to believe someone kept them for posterity, I was sure people would demand they be taken off the air and destroyed. Thanks to whoever posted them.
Lawyers are supposed to protect the justice. This guy only promotes greed and revenge. With this lack of integrity and honour, no wonder lawyers in America are generally frowned upon.
Yes, he was one of the first to use sensationalism in promoting his services. Because of him, the laws about advertising attorney services were changed, first in New York state, then elsewhere.
The closest I've seen lately as far as crazy law-related commercials are the ones Vern Fonk makes. They're pretty funny, especially the Napoleon Dynamite ones.
Isn't it a shame, gjevil, that the loudest always get noticed the most, so the listeners lump the quiet right in with them?
The vast, overwhelming majority of lawyers are good people. "No wonder," perhaps, but non-lawyers should still use their brains once in a while and not make assumptions or sweeping generalizations.
Do you remember the Shapiro ads from near the end of his career, lauriebird? Some of them didn't even have Jim in them, but rather, a surly old man. As intense as Jim was, this guy looked like he wanted to take your case, then rip your head off afterwards! :p
I'd like to see him go up against Matlock. The combination of mania and near-comatose calm would cause a vortex.

Holy Hell, each video shows him going more and more insane.

The most EXTREME lawyer ever!
Get him in a room with Billy Mays and load them up on Powerthirst, and you'll have one EXTREME combination!

He was disbarred a few years ago. Despite claiming to be The Hammer, he apparently never saw the inside of a Courtroom.
NYTrialman 3 years ago 5
@NYTrialman When you are The Hammer, you don't need to see the inside of a Courtroom.
Cuse330Ci 11 months ago
@NYTrialman - He was NOT disbarred. He was suspended for a year from NY and from FLA but never disbarred.

Never thought of that, and I'm also a wrestling fan. He probably would be good!
So, does the Luna in your name refer to Luna Vachon? :)

Do you have the one where he says "I may be an SOB, but I am your SOB" ? I been looking for that commercial for the longest time.

Someone else asked that, too. To be honest, I can't even remember that one...so no, I don't have it. ;) Sorry.
