@cowbow50 Loads of shows use cunt. Characters on the Sopranos said cunt all the time, so did The Wire. Curb Your Enthusiasm occassionally says it. Cunt is quite a frequently used word on tv shows, especially HBO ones, nowadays.
Why did they keep the "weeds" bottle in the US version? Anyway, I like both Australian & US. But writers had to smoke really huge bunch of weeds in writing this series.
It seems that Jason worked his accent in the US version, you still see that he has an australian accent, but you do understand. I have much trouble to understand the typical australian english with all its slangs (such as mite instead of mate...etc).
@Monkeyboy92037 "we"? You are taking undue credit. You have the same amount of right as I do to take credit for the internet or television and I'm not even American.
Just started watchin the american version of this, its so dumbed down its rediculous. Oh hey Americans wont understand this, lets cut out all the smart bits and spell everything out so our moronic population wont be confused.
Please can you check out my channel, I am 11. My best one is either Miley Cyrus - The climb or Jessie J - Who's Laughing now. Plus my camera makes it all crackly, but please check my songs out. Please comment telling me what you think and if you have any ideas of a next song, please inform me, every positive commenter, liker or subscriber wil get a shout out, until the 10th of September :)
I actually find this funny. Not LOL funny, I just like the idea and how it works out. I feel the humor does go beyond a dog smoking pot, contrary to what most "haters" suggest. I think the problem is people don't how to react if a tv comedy hasn't the "joke-story-joke" style most shows have. Therefore they struggle finding SOMETHING that could be funny, and get upset after they only see a dog smoking pot.
no offense. yes, both are funny. love jason gann, but i think the american version is just better written. i couldnt understand all the comments on FB at firts about how clever the pot humor was, but after seeing some of the aussie version AND the american version, i can see a difference. i really hope this new version stays around. how long has it been running down under?
@breakthechain888 How could it be better in every way possible? The American version has an actor I've actually heard of (Elijah Wood) Wilfred's teeth are fixed, and the episodes are way higher quality. As for the dialogue the American and the Australian versions have the same kind of stuff.
@iMAKEvids56 since when do big deal actors make a show good or not? i don't care for that frodo cunt. like i said - the american version is watered down, over-produced yuckiness, lost all it's charm. i'll keep watching it though, one or two half-hearted chuckles here and there.
@breakthechain888 A matter of opinion. I'm impartial as I'm from neither of those countries and honestly think the America one is funnier. YES the Aussie one is more subtle and I would generally say more my type of comedy, but the American one IS funnier even though the humour may be 'spoon fed' to the audience...
Obviously the Australian version was funny otherwise there wouldn't be an American version now. They have the same type of premise, but just from watching this clip and the last couple of episodes of the new American show, they're completely different shows really.
@AirsoftMegaTTr14 They're just different. They do different things well. The Australian one is a bit darker and more surreal. I'm really enjoying the American remake though.
at least FX kept jason gann playing as the dog; but yet again, FX has a lot of good shows and tend to stay true to the stories, it's not that surprising.
either way, both versions are funny. end of story.
I disagree. Though they both are quite amusing, the lighting for the Australian version (and most non-American, English-speaking country television programs, I find) are just dark, cut and dry, awful. Just saying. Lighting can make a big difference.
@GLaDOS123 Thats because they didn't have a million dollar lighting rig. It was shot on location in a real house by a bunch of friends. Nevertheless the lighting feels authentic to that suburban environment and it also matches the more sinister tone of the Australian version. The American version is more up beat so you have this glossy sheen with over saturated colours - at the end of the day, screenplay and performance is what matters most
I just watched the American version and they stripped all of the darkness out of it - it's not terrible but it's short on laughs. Jason Gann's comic performance is toned way down, the script is a lot weaker.
