Learning one will definitely make the other easier, although the violin is generally the more difficult instrument. The movement of fingers may be different in posture, but they both build up the finger muscles and playing becomes easier. I play both violin and guitar and I know for sure they benefit each other.

the right hand, however, is incredibly different and it takes a longer time to practice because the bow has so many different factors that can be manipulated.

i know youtube credibility doesn't mean much, but i've been playing violin for 13 years and metal guitar for around 3-4. they're similar, but vastly different.
