It has to be a clear action, rather than a valuing of a particular system. Utilitarianism could become "maximizing benefits" and Consequentialism itself is too broad and non-specific, encompassing too much to be of any practical use. Which consequences are you talking about? How will we achieve them? Consequentialism doesn't cut it.
It is important to point out that a Lincoln-Douglas Debate requires a value and criterion. The value is what specific moral standard/standard that you want to uphold, while the criterion is how you are going to achieve that standard. Simply saying "I affirm this topic" or "I negate this topic" is not considered a value and criterion. After establishing a value and criterion, you then need to somehow tie in all of your arguments to the value and criterion.
