  • @crutchfield5days hell yeah!

  • You guys don't know Roger Troutman and Zapp out of Dayton OH? More Bounce to the ounce...? The troutman family? Deep!

  • Sounds like MJ's grunts in the background vocal track at around 8:40- 8:50... Could even be him with the talk box! :)

Frank Cascio said MJ loved to hear this track while he got ready every morning...!

  • @IpanemaShirley77 That proves two things Michael created good music and he had good taste in music. =)

  • I grew up in the 80's and Zapp was my band. When Dance Floor came on at the club, we were ALL on the floor dancing. The litte phrases Roger says in the song like "good God" and "unh unh unh" and "come on let it" just takes the song to another level. And don't get me started on More Bounce to the Ounce.......Wow.

  • The copycats can't do this. Roger used a talk box not autotune like these suckers today.Nobody does it like Roger Troutman.

  • é de arrepiar!!!!!!!

  • Oh my gosh this is some funky shit!

  • this is old skool funk, real ! never again R.I.P

  • they had this song in nba jam tournament edition.

  • Skool these young kats....Like you said it takes actual skill to use the talk box, & ain't NO WAY IN HELL t-pain will EVER be on Roger's level.....only kats out that measure up to Roger is Teddy Riley & Byron "Mr. Talkbox" Chambers

  • Isn't it a vocoder?

  • @Silvertone58 No, its kind of an add-on for the synthesizer. The Talkbox works completely analog, in contrast to autotune or a vocoder which are both digital.

  • RODGER TROUTMAN IS A MUSICAL GOD AND SHOULD BE PLACED LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF ANY HIP HOP ARTIST! FUNK REGURATATED HIP HOP. ASK GEORGE CLINTON/ PARLIMENT/FUNKADELIC.

  • @WATTSNATIONALIST Even if Funk is the father of HipHop and I really love Roger, Funkadelic and so on.. You can't say that there's no rapper with musical genius on the same level. I don't know how much rap stuff you have listened to, but trust me.. Some rappers are really godlike!

  • too bad he had to kill his brother and commit suicide over money!

  • @BooteyMasta Correction: Roger was killed by his brother Larry. Check wikipedia and other sources.

  • the jam <3

  • My favorite zapp and Roger song. R.I.P. Roger.

  • THIS IS SO DAMN FUNKY! GOOD GOD! SHAKE IT MAMA!

  • this the bomb!

  • This was truly the jam...back in my days Roger was truly the man! Missin you and love you Roger! This was my fav.

  • let me get my skates and sho u how to 'Crazy-Leg" St.Louis style !!!!!!! ;-)

  • @jdpatterson100 hey man same agree rollerskate funk style

  • Larry Craig should butt rape Justin Beiber as a punishment for deterring younger listeners away from Zapp and Roger's good quality music. But a good place to lure Justin Beiber into is an airport bathroom since poop slime blumpkins will disgust him with an initial aroma after a foot tap.

  • Roger Troutman...sinfully underrated guitar player!

  • he is awsome at his songgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghmjdjdjwhfghfuhfuefhuhuhhuefhuhuhfdefhfhfhughuhfuughfyusgdygygfygygygoo

  • i remmeber this song when i was 10

  • Holiday Skate Palace, Valdosta, Ga. Man, those were the days. Good Memories!!

  • he made this song the same time as more bounce to the ounce n its still slapen today!! vote up if u be listeninq to zap & roger in 20011!!

  • @twistedlies14 More Bounce was released in 1980, this was released in early summer '82; beginning of June. But you may be right about both being created around the same time. Musicians will often release certain songs later instead of at once. Makes sense and very wise purely from a profit-oriented POV. These guys were full of creativity and energy in the early 80s.

  • @egmjag the creme of the crop, nobody on the scene right now is capable of creating this level of music......

  • @scorpionJB Yes, agree. Creativity began slowly losing waning after 1983. After hip hop went mainstream in the fall of 1983 with the help of the media, I lost interest in what I heard on the radio. Funk was much better when it was mostly underground. So many songs were complex and filled with poly rhythms and synthesized harmonies. Amazing! Artists cared more about what they created than just producing garbage for mass appeal. This seems to be true about other music and other art forms as well.

  • @egmjag everything you say it's true, I was 10 when this jam came out.....by the time I turned 15-16, I knew something was wrong w/our music, the decline started ever so subtle, I couldn't put my finger on it, but really, the main culprit is the overambundance of sampling, overconsumption of videos, lack of true artistic ability, and people thrusted into the spotlight who don't deserve it, and that' goes for today's artists from all cultures..

  • @scorpionJB It started when people stop playing instruments

  • @whitebitchnigga very, very true.......because this ain't music that's playin on the airwaves these days......

  • @egmjag as you say, real hip-hop was compromised in the early 80's, the forefathers of hip-hop, the cats who crafted the music from the new york city burroughs gave a prophetic warning, they said if the music every became commercialized, it would be destroyed, and they were right, the true essence of what hip-hop was meant to be was destroyed before the 80's ended.

  • @egmjag its like when I listen to today's music on the radio, I get bored, get sleepy, get frustrated, because I know how far we have fallen, the cultural, musical decline has created tremendous void in our community, once music was created to uplift, but now it's filled w/spiritual malaise, even radio broadcasting is lackluster now....god awful....

  • @scorpionJB Exactly! They're serving up straight garbage and this current generation don't fuckall about what "real" music is. Record companies don't give a shit about feeling or art, it's all about the Benjamins simple and plain. Dumbing down young fools is very profitable.

  • @1bIgFaTsOnOfAbItCh very very true, the country is in freefall, and we have been dumbed down, and as a result, we're losing the ability to think critically, and because of that, the inability to create the level of music our luminaries did back in the day

  • @1bIgFaTsOnOfAbItCh but its not the truth, no one has to be taught how to live life or what to like because the body naturally rejects anything UNNATURAL.

  • @kalai131 Bullshit! My brother majored is an advertising executive, and makes his living shoving shit down the throats of people until they love it, when initially they hated it. Music is no different, trust me payola among other methods still go on in the music industry. You will go from feeling a song totally suck ass to bobbing your head and singing along. They will blast it over the airwaves and keep it in your face until it hypnotize you.

  • @1bIgFaTsOnOfAbItCh but the body rejects it, and it throws it out, you see this all the time.

  • @1bIgFaTsOnOfAbItCh rightous

  • @scorpionJB That's how I feel about most musical styles, but funk was to me something awesome because it was underground and you couldn't listen to it anywhere except on black-owned radio stations. You'd hear very few funk on 1 or 2 non-black dance stations but not like this or especially Playin' Kinda Ruff or So Ruff, So Tuff. It was too ethnic for the masses. This is what they said about rock in the early 50s and before that. But rock was marketed and tweaked to satisfy the masses.

  • @twistedlies14 ummm more bounce to the ounce was on the album before this one! so it was NOT the same time.

  • DAM THIS SHIT WAS HOT.....MAKES ME WANNA LACE UP MY ORIGINAL CHICAGOS ROLLER SKATES AND GET IT IN LOL

  • for those who don't know who was using the voice box long before Roger, listen to peter frampton's "Do you feel like we do". I don't know if he was the very first but he was doing it back in the late 70's. I love Roger too but that Frampton song is the SHIT TOO, give it a listen.

  • @wwhitehe I saw Stevie Wonder using one with a synth in early mid 70s

  • @wwhitehe heard that tune couldnt hear any voice box vocals or other wise on there! just sounded like a straight up bluesy prog rock tune, definately aint got that funk of a zapp band sorry bro!

  • @wwhitehe listen to "i thought it was you" by herbie hancock.(1977)..although that was a vocoder.

  • DANCE!!!

  • summer of 1982 WHAT A SUMMER !

  • morons...all you that he, Roger was the first using the voice box........... sexy. as hell....

  • This song makes me hard.

  • @Loosewire2 and makes me wet ;)

  • These youngbloods don't know what 'Talk Box' is. Unlike Auto Tune which requires ZERO SKILL, using Talk Box requires a degree of talent that most music today is lacking. A person doesn't even have to know how to sing or play an instrument to have a hit song, pretty pathetic. Roger, you are a true pioneer. Keep heaven funkin' at least 'til I get there. PEACE!

  • Roger, RIP my funky friend.

  • LET US SEE YOUR BOOBIES ON THE DANCEFLOOR!
