I know it may seem daunting, however there are a lot of orgs working on things like information dissemination, and orgs like LiNK who are bringing out refugees and giving them a platform to tell their stories so people can understand what is going on inside of the country. I know it may not seem like I lot considering how big this problem is, however I think one of the first steps is to educate others on the severity of this issue!

That number is a western estimate for how many people in north Korea sitting in jail (for any crime) and that number is actually a smaller per cent than of the jailed americans in th USA. Also the militarisation of Korea is a result of the US policies and the past military dictatorship of South Korea, not a result of northen politics
The problem is that if the two Korea's united under communism or democracy, their army would be stronger than China so the US and China don't like that idea and try to keep them separated.
North wanted already few times unite by force South, but they've failed because they've got no support from China or Russia as they did not care and they still don't.

MacArthur was going to use nuclear strikes against targets in the North and in China but Truman slapped him down. Winning the Korea war may well have stopped the rule of Mao as well and history would have been very different indeed.

Both countries have means of productions controlled by few over many. North have state while South have private capitalists controlling means of production over majority of working class. Difference really isn't "communism" and "democracy"(the word "democracy" is used for both capitalism and communism - capitalism called "bourgeois democracy" while communism called "proletarian democracy") but it is that North Korea is state capitalism and South Korea is private capitalism.

The word "democracy" in the title of North Korea's official name doesn't reflect any reality. My point was that North Korea doesn't have any proletarian democracy. Their manifesto of "socialism in our way" recognize proletarians as dependent beings for state power rather than autonomy of proletarian powers.
For Socialist, proletarian democracy a higher form of democracy- When working people have direct control of the workplace and society and local delegates are directly elected by the people and can diectly recalled by the people at anytime.
This is in contrast to bourgeois democracy where we have elections every few years but aside from that have little say in how society is run.
North Korea pays lip service to proletarian democracy- but in reality there is none,

I know it may seem daunting, however there are a lot of orgs working on things like information dissemination, and orgs like LiNK who are bringing out refugees and giving them a platform to tell their stories so people can understand what is going on inside of the country. I know it may not seem like I lot considering how big this problem is, however I think one of the first steps is to educate others on the severity of this issue!

That number is a western estimate for how many people in north Korea sitting in jail (for any crime) and that number is actually a smaller per cent than of the jailed americans in th USA. I think the big reason why adverage American's don't know anything beyond our border's (unless we're at war with them) is the media. Journalism in America is dead. Instead of separating entertainment news and legitimate news, we get both. They report on Sarah Palin's new make up line or whatever. MacArthur was going to use nuclear strikes against targets in the North and in China but Truman slapped him down. Winning the Korea war may well have stopped the rule of Mao as well and history would have been very different indeed.

Both countries have means of productions controlled by few over many. North have state while South have private capitalists controlling means of production over majority of working class. Difference really isn't "communism" and "democracy"(the word "democracy" is used for both capitalism and communism - capitalism called "bourgeois democracy" while communism called "proletarian democracy") but it is that North Korea is state capitalism and South Korea is private capitalism.
