Also you’re probably one of those people who thinks the end of slavery was the end of exploitation of black people. Africans were enslaved in Africa right up until the 60s and the Herero are still seeking reparations for the genocide they suffered at the hands of the Germans. Many historians even think that, due to the way the Nazi economy was structured, conquering new areas for resources was the only thing keeping the entire economy from collapsing. Africa was not stripped bare by the slave trade. There were still plenty of neighboring villages and nations ready for conquest.
@gameragodzilla Like I said, entire villages were wiped out. The Kongo Kingdom became greatly depopulated. The king of the Kongo sent his relatives to Portugal only to find later that they were enslaved in Brazil. That’s how the slave trade worked. So the guilt on both sides isn’t an equal one.

In 1482 they built the first slave castle in Africa, against the will of King Ansa, who didn’t want them in his country. Also, buying slaves wasn't any easy thing. The Europeans faced much resistance in many cases.

Hell, the raid itself wasn't even important enough to warrant an individual page, simply being glued to the page about guy who did the raid. It makes logical sense, too. This guy was knighted (yeah, it was a different time...) for the successful capturing of the slaves. Thus, this is considered a great feat. Therefore, if slave raiding was so common, there'd be a helluvalot more knights running around.
Why don't you go do some research. The vast majority of slaves were sold by other Africans. This isn't brought up to justify slavery, but the black man is equally as guilty as the white man. And both the black man and the white man are now currently dead. Their descendents did absolutely no wrong, and therefore, should not pay any sort of reparation.

That slave raid did not open the doors. If it was that important, it wouldn't be a stub on Wikipedia. I will agree that Africans are not as MUCH guilty as Europeans, but my main point was that they are not off the hook, either, considering they sold the slaves in the first place (not to mention that white one village was wiped out, another village got extremely rich), thus making it a total slap in the face of history to say that only the white man is guilty and must pay reparations. In 1482 they built the first slave castle in Africa, against the will of King Ansa, who didn’t want them in his country. Also, buying slaves wasn't any easy thing. The Europeans faced much resistance in many cases.

Why don't you go do some research. The vast majority of slaves were sold by other Africans. This isn't brought up to justify slavery, but the black man is equally as guilty as the white man. And both the black man and the white man are now currently dead. Their descendents did absolutely no wrong, and therefore, should not pay any sort of reparation.

Just to clarify the Civil War.. Neither the Union nor the Confederacy entered the war with any intention or desire to change the status of black Americans. The Dutch, English, Spanish, German, French, Italians, Portuguese, and Belgians all were empires at one point or another, and all of them played a role in ruining Africa. The right to hold public office was given to blacks since the reconstruction era, yet it took a civil rights bill to give blacks full rights. Learn your American history.

@MrPissonyourgrave Okay. The Hutu and Tutsi lived together in relative peace until they were colonized by the Germans who divided them. When the Belgians gained control of Rwanda they further divided the population and created tensions that had not previously been there. So inclusion, no white people no Hutu and Tutsi conflict. At least read more books on these subjects before you throw around insults and call people animals…

Ever notice how there was relative peace in Rwanda until colonization? That seems to be a trend in history. Wherever whites conqueror chaos follows. They stood there and told other Hutus who was to balme and created the hatred which in turn created the killing. They were manipulated by their gov to kill their own people. You need to read more.

@infox1000 I know that two people died. Instead of blaming the two killers they blamed a group of people in their society, and then the gov had them killed because they disageed with them. I understand we’re all equal, but that doesn’t change the fact that white racists are very good at distorting history. Blacks do it also, and don’t accept when either side does it. I don't hate anyone, I just wish people would stop running from the facts.

I read Mein Kampf several times, some things in there are fact some are simply hate put into your mind to undermine a system. White Racist?
