  • freedom for blacks ok. freedom for vietnamese is not ok. US troops protecting blacks in U.S ok. U.S. protecting vietnamese is not.

  • I am taking a philosophy class and am now realizing the genius if this man. How he thinks and constructs deductive arguments at many times of the top of his head and how he used it to strike at the conscious of a nation and the world. He lives on in all of us even if you don't realize it.

  • @zzahier Not the full speech....the uploader left off the first 2 minutes

  • i'm wasn't born in his time but i deeply respect him. RIP Matrin Luther King.

  • noooooooooooooooooo mamessssss que pinches palabras tan chingonas!!!!!

  • i'm vietnamese

  • The power of his words.. All you have to do is replace Vietnam with "war on terror" and it would sum up our current situation. The time to break the silence is now. Obama is getting us more and more involved in an endless nation building genocide, He claimed as candidate the first thing he would do was bring our troops home. He ran on false slogans and misleading propaganda. Obama has betrayed us we must demand him to end the war, instead of giving us excuses. We have to take our country back.

  • @clarkygorny While we are all entitled to our opinions I feel you are incorrect in your statements because Obama, as promised has began to pull troops out of afghanistan and as of December 31st all U.S troops will be out of afghanistan....

  • @ndavis93 It has nothing to do with opinion. He said the first thing he would do when he became president was end the war not bring some troops home 4 years later. I dont know if you are keeping count but we are currently bombing 6 countries atm, before Obama it was 4. So even if he did end the wars in those countries completely. Our foreign policy is what creates a threat to us in the first place, its time to bring about peace with peace not some distant time in the future but now.

  • this was a great man. we all need to look at his life as an example to respect..

  • The greatest voice ever to speak in America.

  • Anyone know where I can find video footage of this speech???

    PLEASE???

  • I just listened to all 7 parts. Some parts are missing but this is 95% of the full speech.

    Thank you for uploading.

End the war now! Greetings from Prague, Czech republic!

  • 240p ... ewww

  • 240p ... ewww

  • what will it take for us to have respect and dignity for all

  • Something is very wrong. Listening to the Eisenhower's Farewell speech, Kennedy's Secret Society speech, and King's Vietnam speech it becomes very clear that we are on the wrong path. Our system that served us many years ago is now out dated. We have no future unless we accept a system based on love rather than profit. It is as if a great experiment is under way. We are so close. I believe we were given the internet to help us with the transition.

  • His greatest speech.

  • cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice, and love..." -Martin Luther King Jr.

    Linkin Park

    Wisdom, Justice and Love-A.Thousand.Suns

  • @619badazz13 I hope in time you can grow up.

  • i was thrown out a windshied hit pavement at 70mph no one care to help me

it was a drunk driver who ran the red light hit were i wassitting

the lawyer did not help me the aaa insurance did not help me

    no one did.

i voted obama because of his wife and children

    we need freedom

and we know that european government stole the land from the americans

mexicans are americans. stop hitler from making a boarder

  • who would dislike this?

  • and for Martin Luther King - Linkin Park - Wisdom, Justice And Love!

  • I think this is the edited version of this speech, the full one is over 50 minutes long.

  • Power to the people.

  • Damn this is quiet

  • The injustice Dr King fought for during the civil rights movement didn't cause his death. His opposition against Vietnam war the speeches and the open departure from the administration during that time seem a little coincidental his death came during that time

  • @cacroan dont be starting conspericy theories bra. it gets noone anywhere, just fight up agianst the issue rather than what was done or not done by the "goverment" to quite it.=D

  • Has Obama saw this or read this speech? If so how can he justify the wars ?People seem to forget that the pass ,can and will repeat itself. Maybe a different country, but the same inhume results.God have mercy on our silence?

  • @79obey obama started nothing, and has only tried to pull out. get ur facts right. but yes i disagree with the war aswell. but do not wrongly accuse insocent people who simply try and help.

  • has glenn beck heard this speech? beck: King was about peace...

  • This speech is a part of a Linkin Park Song!

Thumbs up for Martin Luther King and LP

  • @iSimonPro

    What one?

  • @smcneal057 Linkin Park- Wisdom, Justice, And Love

  • How do I find mp3iffy to download this song? I was told to google mp3iffy.

  • This speech captures the "other" Martin Luther King Jr. That is, the one who is ignored by the Hallmark hero mentality that so pervades our modern culture. King is being marginalized in death in ways he never would have tolerated in life. It is sad to say that if King were alive today no one would be more disappointed in Obama's policies than King himself.

  • @ChrisDutch Do you think MLK would have supported republican policies and ideals?

  • @rashadkijani No. He would seen the imbalance towards a "private sector" approach that commodifies items like public education and the like at the expense of a general social good.

  • The USA was and is the biggest purveyor of violence in the world. This speech is why they killed MLK. School Children should be educated by this Silence is betrayal speech more than the I have a dream speech, Peace.

  • That guy was so bad ass....the military industrial complex killed him.

Reminds me of Ron Paul talking about the federal Reserve (the most powerful mafia in the world) but Luther had even bigger balls to do that shit back in that time.

  • Any republican who claims the Reverand as their own ought to listen to this speech entiely. They may realize differently that Martin was a liberal. Maybe not a democrat with Obama continuing Bush policies in torture, rendition, and raising troops in Afghistan. But he would certianly not be a republican. He would be a liberal independent.

  • @imaginepeace63 I like how you say that, but Reverend King was a prophetic figure, not a political figure. Unlike many Christians allying themselves with either parties, he understood that a man cannot serve two masters, and followed his rabbi to the ultimate end.

  • @imaginepeace63 How is Obama continuing Bush polices? You are making absolutely no sense. Obama gained presidency while war was going on you cannot call that continuing policies of Bush. Pray for a brain. Some of you ignorant ppl should just loose all your senses so you can't speak or talk again.

  • @dadreamzworld Obama is continuing the war in Afghistan. He has not repealed the patriot act or the military commissions act. There is still torture and rendition going on. Obama is no different than Bush. Both parties are fascist.

  • @imaginepeace63 Oh shut the hell up. I don't give a damn what you think. He isn't continuing any thing. He just can't stop a war thats been going on for 8 years or more. Also he's not fucking God he can't snap his fingers and shit is over. Again, I don't give a damn what you think. Get over yourself. This shit isn't Obama

    s fault!

  • @dadreamzworld Look I am not a teabagger. I don't believe Obama is born in Kenya. I am a member of my local progressive democrats chapter. I base my opinions on facts. Fact Obama has a Goldman Sachs guy for sec of treasurer. Fact he has a oil lapdog as sec of Interior. Fact he has a Monsanto, the #1 maker of genetically modified foods, as sec of department of Agriculture. He voted for the patriot act as Senator. Stop acting like an Ostrich with your head in the sand. Both parties suck.

  • @imaginepeace63 You act as if he is doing the EXCT same things Bush was doing. I not acting like anything, nor am I looking to a man to solve all my problems either. Do you not know how to grow your own food since that is a big problem to you. I do and I do know how to eat healthier. You don't know who's all working behind the scene and he shouldn't fire someone just because a few ppl want to see that person gone. He can't please everyone and you should realize that, but too sad you don't.

  • @dadreamzworld I eat healthier too. I buy organic. I like to shop at my local farmers markets and trader Joes. I eat many fruits and veggies. I only eat meat made from animals with that are fed a vegatarian diet and have not been injected with steroids or any other crap. I am aware of what the food industry does to make it more profitable and less healthy.

  • watch?v=QFsLTBtEXYY

this audio clip deserves to be heard.

    this isn't even my video.

but it needs to be heard

    apologies for the spam.

    Happy Civil Rights day

  • Thank you. This is everyone's favorite and the hardest to find.

  • @hcwcars1 Damn your simple

  • Thank you very much for posting this and also the comment by Time magazine and the Washington Posts. "Liberal media" my ass.

  • Very prophetic speech.

  • perverts believed they could make fools of most all of us, and bury the truth that would stem from the steadfast. my friend's son was murdered on 911 in a destroyed building. the rubble of that building retained 3000 degree temperatures for 3 months. he said that if it were your son, you would want to know why. he found out how people had lied about his son's death. 500+ architects and engineers confirm the world trade center suffered controlled demolition. the high temps resulted from thermite.

  • the vietnam holocaust had nothing to do with defending AMERICA. when you kill millions of people, it's called a holocaust. mcnamara admitted in his book "the fog of war" that the gulf of tonkin incident was a fabrication. perverse men felt they could make fools out of the people they sent to murder the vietnamese. DEFEND our country from the perverts, like cheney, that is what VETERANS should do.

  • Rip You M8

  • during the American Civil war there were parishes in Louisiana that refused to send their young men to the Confederate army after a law was passed that owners of more than 300 slaves could send someone in their place. The head of the parish said his young mean would not participate in what was "a rich man's war and a poor man's fight." Most wars are thus.

  • Not that anyone doubted MLK's courage, but this speach was a watershed. This is when he globalized the civil rights movement, and brought it under the umbrella of the peace movement. It also split him from his chief political partner LBJ. Amazing. Some have said this is also hastened to his murder. If you buy the various conspiracy theories. Don't forget most whites avoided the draft with student differments. A very high percentage of those fighting were black, hispanic, and poor whites.

  • It is so inspiring to hear such an example of a man speaking the truth so clearly and honestly. Sadly, the words of this speech still need to be heard desperately.

  • truely inspiring and frankly just as revelent today

  • when a nation doesn`t learn from its past, it is destined to repeat it. (Iraq = unjust war = Vietnam)

  • Afghanistan war is also as evil as the war on Iraq. Most of the people dead, including hundreds of children, and thousands of civilians, were poor people who didn't even a tv or radio. America has killed more people than 9/11 many times over in Afghanistan. Innocent civilian and children as innocent as those who were killed in 9/11.The american government is still the largest terrorist entity in the world. Killing women, children, and civilians as the main foreign policy in order to gain resources.

  • the truth must be heard i applud every ones comment on this page because it seems as if history does repeat itself marin saw things from a biblical standpoint and jesus said in the bible that the world did'nt understand him so how will it accept his tru followers so what the devil was trying to silence was not the attack on war but the coming together of mankind!!!!!

  • he speaks all truth and it is what it is

  • Say something!!!!

  • It appears as if that the more the country has changed, the more things remain the same. The "haves" are justifying a senseless war in the name of democracy. The "have nots" are suffering economically and with lost lives as a result. When will we learn? When will we stand up and take action and let our collective voices be heard? A paradigm shift that began when this speech was delivered over 40 years ago. "Where do we go from here? Chaos or Community?"

  • What won't change is the result of our leaving prematurely. When we left Vietnam we literally masacured the people we were their to defend. Beit right or wrong to be in this situation again is insignificant. We must win befor their is another genacide as a result of our actions. I personally witnessed this I don't want to see it again.

  • I think if u speak to the Vietnamese, whom we trade and talk with today, they were glad that we left when we did. They didn't see us as protectors, they saw us as aggressors.

What right do we have to tell a nation that we don't think they're ready for independece because we know whats best for them. You heard President Maliki, he supports withdrawal within two years.

The same people that said it would be a cake walk invading and occupying Iraq, are saying if we leave there would be a genocide.

  • I don't know who is filling your head with that nonsense, but nonsense it is.

The reason we don't learn from from history is because people distort history to reflect their own views. It's been happening since the beginning of time and people like you that did not live through it are victimised by their teachers.

The north Vietnamese and the viet cong saw us as aggressors and indeed we were against them. Just hog tied by civilian government as we are now.

  • Also, if you pay close attention to what Obama is saying, he has no intention of ending the war. He wants to move the battlefield to Afganistan. Even russia could not defeat Afganistan because it is "Garilla Warfare" just like Vietnam was.

That will in fact be your precious new vietnam. Go fight a war and then talk to me.

  • I may have not lived through a war, or necessarily faught in one. But I can discern between right and wrong, and although my thoughts may seem naive, because of lack of experience. It doesn't diminish my point, that it was wrong to go in and we should come home. We aren't going to be able to afford it either for very much longer because of the financial crisis.

By the way I don't support the Afghanistan war either, because we let those responsible for 9/11 escape into Pakistan.

  • you have lived trough wars as the US as been at war NON STOP some place or another around the globe since the Korean war in the 50s.. some are smaller than others but thats the truth.

  • The real truth is the U.S. has been involved in more wars than the years it has existed. That makes it impossible to blame any one party or president. In Iraq 3 presidents have been at war with them. George H.W. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton and George W. Bush. Just how do you blame the third one and not the other two?

Seriously I want an answer from all Bush haters. I'll never get one because you don't have one. Not one that makes sence anyway. you can blow sunshine up my ass all day.

  • the time hw did, it was because iraq attacked kuwait n tried to take control of the oil supply. that would have adversely affected us. clinton never sent troops into iraq. he bombed suspected sites that housed "weapons of mass destruction". there was an actual cause and proper foresight. w had no real reason. even if he suspected "weapons of mass destruction", he couldve bombed sites instead of committing thousands of troops to take over the country. n that is the biggest difference.

  • The only point was that the U.S. has been at war with Iraq for 18yrs you cannot blame it all on Bush. Jan 1991-Jan 2009 do the math.

Defending Clinton by saying it was because there were WMD's and then saying that even though he and his wife agreed with bush to send troops into Iraq and we should not have because we found no WMD's is an asinine statement.

  • Have u ever read the book "A peoples history of America?"- Howard Zinn.

  • No and I have no intention to. I lived during those times.

  • When King made this speech I lived in N.Y. I got the news. 2 years later guess where I was. You guessed it.........vietnam. I really don't need to be educated on the subject.

  • Why wouldn't u want to learn about the different perspectives of the war ie. The 1.1 Million civilians who were, The civilians we dropped napalm on. How more civilians supported Ho Chi Ming than Diem. There was hardly any benefit on either sides. This is with all due respect, I admire anyone willing to risk their life for a cause. But why not look back in retrospect, to see our faults and failures?

  • Why wouldn't u want to learn about the different perspectives of the war ie. The 1.1 Million civilians who were killed, The civilians we dropped napalm on. How more civilians supported Ho Chi Ming than Diem. There was hardly any benefit on either sides. This is with all due respect, I admire anyone willing to risk their life for a cause.

  • What kind of an asshole are you. I was there stupid. What do you think you can teach me?

    Don't waste my time anymore.

  • Im not looking to teach anyone. just asking questions.

  • afghanistan has a government and people that wants to work with the us, unlike the iraqis. it will not be a new vietnam. truthfully, u just sound like a bitter bush supporter that is mad that your president's party lost.

  • I've read more than one place that the North Vietnamese didn't make a distinction from fighting us, the French, or the Japanese. They viewed it as one war of liberation, from the 40's till the day we left in 1975.

  • we were the aggresors

we didnt know what was really going on in vietnam...they too were opposed to communism

they were fighting a civil war when we jumped in

  • Guess what, under both Eisenhower and Kennedy we were only there in an advisory capacity. LBJ The liberal democrat made it a full scale war. Without a vote from congress I might add. At least Bush went to congress and got authorization. Oh, I see the problem you have with that. Almost half the people that authorized military action are democrats and you can't admit that. Sorry but it is a fact. It was not a civil war It was two separate countries just like Korea. You need a history book.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    i must admit

i got a good smeck form your comment

GUESS WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! the bullshit you just fed me has nothing to do with us being the agressors

i mean...how would we really know whats going on there...its not our country...how could i possibly know they were in the midst of civil war...oh wait....THEY ONLY SAID THAT DURING A MEETING WITH MCNAMARA YEARS LATER

but i guess that counts for nothing

  • Who are they? You know the ones that said that to McNamara. Before you answer I think that counts for nothing as you say. War is about aggression by the way. An old Military saying, and don't give me shit about it being a quote from a movie because it was around before his time, war is not about dying for your country it is about making the other guy die for his country. Here is another our business is killing and business is good. Spend some time around military people and see what you think.

  • why would i give you crap about a quote from a movie?? a quotes a quote...no matter where it came from...and i do spend time around military people...and obvisouly..their views are going to be VERY different...they had to actually go over there and do it...

while the rest of us watch form afar...i owuld expect their views to be different and had i been in a particular event...im sure my views would be different too

  • they are the vietnamese leader/governement

i dont remember what figure it was or the name...nor could i spell the name if i did...

  • Well, had you looked at my response to another person in this thread you might not have attacked me then. I did two tours in vietnam. Nothing you say will adjust my opinion or the facts as I recall them. Something tells me your info comes from books and while they are nesessary and useful you have to realise that history gets rewritten over time. That is a fact. Find an old history book about that war and then compare and contrast it with what you think you know. You'll see.

  • The answer about who the figure was might be Ho Chi Minh. That is the new name for Saigon. He was the north vitnamese leader that took over the south when we left.

  • a book....not quit...

a video biography that McNamara made

history tends to do a lot over the years...

  • McNamara was not the go to guy for the troops. He was what we now call politically correct. Not a soldier a politician.

There were more than few generals the disagreed with him. Warriors want a free reign in war. Your guy would not give it to us nor would Johnson On his recommendation. By then somewhere in excess of 40,000 men were already dead, our countrymen back home no longer supported us and when Nixon tried to give us free reign he was pummeled by protester's and the press.

  • Believe what you will but this is a sore subject for me and I'd prefer not to discuss it further. Thanks for the dialogue.

  • and i love how you attacked me saying im totaly against democrats

tell me...where did i ever give my political explination in my comment

i cant seem to find it....

  • You really should do some homework before making a comment like this. We fought on behalf of the south vietnamese and they were a free democratic state being invaded by north vienam the communist state. We fought to help them koop their independence, not as you say to stop them from being independent. When we left Saigon was already under attack. It is now called ho chi minh city. After the dictator.

  • If we were protecting a democratically elected government and not our political and economic interests (for arguments sake); wouldn't we have had much more support from the general population? And one of the main pretenses to war was a notion of the "domino" effect", where if one state fell to communism the rest would soon follow.

After we left, that theory was proven false.

  • I guess you know more than I do. I was just there for two tours. What do I know?

  • @tmagsby i get your point and its a good way of saying it. but what is our community? what is our economi? is there really a law of speaking ur own free will? is there a own free will? or is it make believe?
