I met RPJ at my step sister's b day party a few years back in California and he was really open and talkative about all the amazing Detroit studio and concert work he did between 68 and 72 when he just a kid.

@battou66488 It was their tour from 1972 with Stevie opening. I assume the rest of the Stones are there but whether they're playing or not, I dont know.
DON'T READ THIS! in 1945 a man was wallking down the streets at 4:34am no one was arround. it was pitch black. sudenly! a man came running down and killed him by stabbing him. the man then took hime somwere and no one evere new were the man took him.
in 2000 a girl found him in a bath tub in a swamp. unless you post this comment to 10 othere videos. the dead man will hunt you for 5 years. do it before 1 hour. hurry
If I'm not mistaken that's Nicky Hopkins on piano. The most underrated sessions pianist in the world. He played with everyone who was anyone. I wish he was still around.
was their two shows on that date in phili? i want to remaster this and i have some sbd recordings and i need to confirm which show so the music and video can be in sync with one another.
From what I recall there were two concerts originally scheduled for the evenings of july 20th and July 21st.Then there was a 2pm show added on Friday the 21st. I believe Jagger was angered by this because it was added the day the tickets sold out pretty quickly for the two original shows and he had no say in it .I was at the July 20th show.I am not sure if this video was from this show or not.I guess you would have to do some research as to how many times stevie wonder opened for the stones.
mannix, I saw the Spectrum show (my second). The buildup of enthusiasm for this show was brewing for weeks. I had great seats and I remember it clearly. The lighting with the large mirror was cool.
The buildup for the show was something.I remember getting up at 4am to get to philly at the spectrum steps to get tickets.back then the seats were sold at the venue for this tour.I remember it was early june and the windows did not open util after 9 am.everyone was pushing against each other,Swaety and smelly from what I could recall.Dting of thirst but no way to get out of line without losing your space.I remember after I secured only 2 seats getting away from the crowd soak and wet and the
There is a lot of racial tolorance going on during this concert. Black and whites interacting - singing and dancing. This doesn't happen anymore. Where did we go wrong?
Hey Neopatriot, I don't know, but I will say musicians in general are usually ahead in social curve compared to the general public. Seeing Stevie here with the Stones shouldn't be shock as many Motown acts were tight with many British acts. Stevie and Mick Jagger are very close friends, John Lennon adored Smokey Robinson, and Marvin Gaye was a big fan George Harrison. It was all about the music man, not the color of the person playing it.

Also, a shout out to the great Ray Parker Jr. He is on stage as part of Stevie Wonder's 72 touring band. He can't be more than 17 or 18. Amazing!
