Hello i would really like for you to get back to me about the canon 550d.
The thing i would really like to know, is that when you are recording a video can you adjust the settings like the apture and the shutter speed and all that when you are recording a video
@Imsoowicked 1-You need to keep the switch on the lens to "AF" and press the shutter button halfway down and it will automatically focus. But if you press it all the way down, it will take a snapshot. It is personally much easier for me to focus manually during video, it's too noisy and doesn't work very great in automatic.
@Imsoowicked 2-timer (for pictures, right?) you press the arrow button to the left, and use the arrow buttons again from going to Single Shooting mode to the circle shapes to the right with a number or a "c" next to them.
Can anyone help me out? When i go into M mode on my T2I the LCD and Pictures I take becomes all dark. On all other settings it's fine. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
@scvs2 you need to make some adjustments... you need to use a higher ISO and slow down the shutter speed.. its depends on how dark the area is you are trying to shoot.
@airrik84 Oh, should I just stick with AV mode? Even when I'm outside I need to leave the shutter at 1/5 which I can no longer take images of moving subjects
@scvs2 The AV mode is to have a sharp foreground and background, or to blur the background. Your target will still be blurred if there isn't enough light? What lense are you using? The lower the f on the lens, the better it will work in low light. in low lighting i can get away with 1600 or 3200 iso and a quicker shutter speed.
@OKFrecords There are two methods to blur the background in your photos: the easy way and the more advanced way. The easy way is to switch your camera into Creative Auto Mode (it's the CA icon on the mode dial.) Then you can move the upper bar to change how blurry the background is. The second way is a bit more advanced, but gives you more control. Switch the camera into AV mode and change the F number down. This opens the aperture more which lets light in and also controls how much is in focus
@Burly914 Yeah. It has a 60 frames per second mode, which allows you to slow it to 50% speed while still looking very smooth. For super slow motion, you could use a program called Twixtor to slow the video down to around 6% (1,000 fps). This works by taking two consecutive frames and calculating the difference between the two. It then adds calculated frames in between the two "real" frames, giving you a super slow motion effect. Search on YouTube for "twixtor t2i". Hope that clears things up.
@jobvanasten Get it with the 18-55 to start out. This will give you more versatility to do things like macro shots and landscapes. If you only get the 50mm, you will really only be able to take portrait shots because the 50mm can't zoom in for macro shots and also can't go wide for a wide-angle landscape shot. You should get the 50mm after you get to know the camera a little better and also if you really like taking portraits. Hope that helps!
I still think this camera is for "Megapixel Masterbaters" The 500d had 15MP For god sake!!
Do you have ANY idea how big you can blow up a 15MP picture from a Canon 500d before it starts to pixalate.
OK Put it this way.If I took a picture with a 500d at 15MP and then took the same picture with a 550d at 18MP and printed both of the pictures on a A2 size print they would both look the same.
Sorry but the Canon 550d is for megapixel masterbaters!
Okay , Can anyone who has actually had the Canon T2i or the 60D Help me out ? I'm looking to get my first DSLR , I'm going to be focusing mainly on the video option rather then the photography and I can't decide between these two . So if anyone could help me out or tell me what you think about either one It'd be very helpful , Thanks .
@oolibrice OK here's my 2 cents. On the wide side barrel distortion is pretty severe, but I haven't notice any vignetting. At 55mm the corners are quite soft unless stopped down to at least f8-f11. The focus ring is thin and it rotates, manual focusing is quite difficult, seems to have some play. The lens hood is a small little plastic ring which in my opinion does not block much of stray light, better to stay away from it. I personally didn't notice any CA. Overall sharpness is great.
Good color rendition. IS is works very well. Lens is light weight but cheaply built. I also tried the 18-135mm and even though it provides a much longer range, there is absolutely no improvement in IQ but it costs a ton. 18-55mm IS is a great all-purpose lens for the price. It has it's cons but you get what you paid for. If budge is not a constraint then choose another lens namely 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM, very fast and incredible IQ. Also consider 50mm f/1.8, a fantastic prime lens.
@SeanMalloyProduction lol ur retarded. you expect to get the body and no lens? LOL with it it's more than 700 minimum. Even with the kit lens its over 700.
@SeanMalloyProduction i don't know enough to navigate all these settings but i want the best 1080 Full HD quality with movie quality....what should i get? I will learn the settings, that won't be a problem but i want the best....what is the difference between this really nice camera that seems to do everything compared to one of those much more expensive cameras for 5,000 or more?? The vid quality seems to be the same right? Just more settings perhaps?
@TechGeek95 Actually its currently $549 at futureshop Canada website so my guess is if you live in US then it should be the same price if not cheaper.
so i want to start photography and i decided this is the camera i want to buy but i heard tht the kit lens isnt so good but since im kinda new to photography do you think i should get a new lens or just stick with that till i get more into photography
@xxxforlif3 The kit lens is fine to start with. It will still give you awesome pictures. Get used to the camera as is, and save up for a fast lens as your using it. Glass is expensive, a decent lens will cost you about as much as the camera it's self. Many people never upgrade the kit lens and are huge fans of the camera as is.
hi, how high will the aperture on the 550d go? I can only seem to get upto f22, but i hear that it can go to f36 or more. how do i do this? I have the eos 550d and several different lenses including the f1.8 50mm, Thanks
@GPr0ducTi0nS haha good to know that im not having this problem alone.. well basically, i can only overcome this problem by setting the video to the lowest format.. which mean i can't record a video in 1080 or 720. i can only use 640 :(
Just curious but why is the info screen white and the T3is info screen black? Can is be changed with a firmware update? It just looks a lot better on the T3i
I have around 13 hours left for my camera to be listed on ebay, the Canon Vixia hf20, and I am now debating if I should sell it or not. what's the difference between 550d and kiss x4?? I know they are the same camera but I wonder what are we giving up because they differ in price..I mean, are there any issues in terms of quality / durability.
DigitalRevCom ..hello there..............i wanna purchase a dslr...........saw ur comparison for the nikon3100 and cannon 550d .but still cant decide wich is better in the long run ?
just had a question i am looking for a camera that does great photos and great video should i go to the 7d over the t2i? im a sports photographer but i also do alot of video as well and was looking for a camera that does both things very well i have a nikon d80 at the moment and a canon gl2 for video but was considering trying to get a camera that does everything is the 7d the way to go? oh and also is there a way for the 7d to work with final cut pro or is the t2i better for final cut pro?
@key00992233 i never said nikon wasnt good. Theyre also a great camera company and ive owned both a nikon d3100 and a 550D. Canon is far more reliable, and you obviously own a nikon and have never experienced a canon. S get over your close minded self
@TheFXism you can't judge a company on their entry level dslrs... Canon is good for videos, but nikon is better for shooting pictures, because of it's better iso performance and overall better image qualities.

@Tall747 They're the exact same thing except one has a movable screen. If you plan to make your SLR a "camcorder" T3i, T2i for more Photography
BlubberOwl 3 weeks ago
@Tall747 If you do a lot of video, maybe the movable screen of the T3i could help, other than that there is no difference, so, for photos, T2i.

At 7:40, at first glance it looks like the front lens element is cracked! Luckily it's just the lights.

It easy with this device: tempus.bymac.org
Go to the website, works with ALL cameras! :)

what's the difference between 550d and kiss x4?? I know they are the same camera but I wonder what are we giving up because they differ in price..I mean, are there any issues in terms of quality / durability.

Too bad you didn't shoot at 720p 60fps. It would have made a beautiful slow motion!

just had a question i am looking for a camera that does great photos and great video should i go to the 7d over the t2i? im a sports photographer but i also do alot of video as well and was looking for a camera that does both things very well i have a nikon d80 at the moment and a canon gl2 for video but was considering trying to get a camera that does everything is the 7d the way to go? oh and also is there a way for the 7d to work with final cut pro or is the t2i better for final cut pro?

@smokypenguin420 Buy a 60D or 600D, the vari-angle LCD screen is very useful for making videos.

timberwolves03 6 months ago
@sleepybeetz They are both high-end cameras but Canon is a professional company and Nikon being a consumer company.

@TheFXism no. they are good at different things. and you are just a fanboy.
key00992233 5 months ago
@key00992233 i never said nikon wasnt good. Theyre also a great camera company and ive owned both a nikon d3100 and a 550D. Canon is far more reliable, and you obviously own a nikon and have never experienced a canon. S get over your close minded self
TheFXism 5 months ago
@TheFXism you can't judge a company on their entry level dslrs... Canon is good for videos, but nikon is better for shooting pictures, because of it's better iso performance and overall better image qualities.
key00992233 5 months ago
@key00992233 just my opinion...if you cant get over that then you have some problems
