Mindless trivia. In the background Dantalian's Chariot is playing. That's Zoot Money's band with a young Andy Summers of The Police playing if you didn't know.
60s BBC would have had strict rules, as did studios of the time. The Beatles nearly got some legendary engineer/producers sacked from Abbey Road, except that George Martin was able to influence the 'old farts' more. The Flower Generation were genuinely trying to convince the stuffy, staid world of freedom & love - at least question dated values as Arthur is trying to say here. Dylan, Lennon and Jagger interviews are surprisingly consistent in their answers to such style of interviews.
"but you're enjoying it aren't you! , dont you think its beautiful?...you see we don't worry about money, but you do....." so many great messages in this bit! aum. shakti
"Makes you want to duff a daffodil"...blimey Nigel, you're bloody effing brilliant. And Arthur is stoned out of his mind! Hold on, thats a very young Vincent Crane (with the mustache) speaking starting at 5:03 !

I don't know what some of you people are talking about, I find the things they say quite intelligent. Some of them are probably a bit high, but that only makes one admire it more... :)
Go to some event like this today and try to ellicit an intelligent response, you'll see the difference.
In June of 1967,400 million watched the Beatle's on T.V. This video was filmed in August 1967."All you need is Love", was the Mantra for that year. Now it's 2009.Come on all you Artest I'm pachtentely waiting for the next Mantra.
Feeling old....me to. But all those memories are worth so much. The older I get the more details I remember. We are so lucky being part of music history!
last Windsor consert I attened I think was 1972/3 hazy days back then, it was in the great park not down by the river, I remember watching Camel playing live during a thunderstorm, amazing
Probably more arthur-itus than Brown these days, but still a brilliant voice!!
My partner at the time really believed that Arthurs waste products evaporated and he didn't need to shit or piss!....Well we did do a lot of drugs, ha,ha
@gazstas could be, but Arthur was known to be just an intellect without the need for synthetics. He was surely immersed in that culture though. What a time!
yeah that reporter was pretty dry, but he was ok, compared to some dodgy biased basturds.
In the background, Dantalian's Chariot's other song you can hear them playing is Four Fireman and at about 2:27 you can hear'um say,"This song's called Four Fireman", and that's all your gonna get of DC live! NOW WHERE'S MY CLOAK AT!
I wish they could of documented more of these psyche bands on film than they did. They all had such visual flair that had to be seen and started it all frankly. It's a shame that the wiz-kids over at the BBC taped over a lot of these band's TV appearances in order to save space. Nice one, erase history!
The BBC was unfortunately populated by stupid old upper middle class farts who hoped that this nasty pop music would go away. They did their best to erase it from the collective memory.I met plenty of the stupid old bastards when I worked there 20 years on from this....
thanks for all the great clips of Arthur Brown...i wonder if Dantalian's Chariot (by the way you're absolutely right "chrisedelic77") had Arthur in mind when writing "Madman running through the field"!!!
Listen very closely at 4:39 and you can hear Dantalian's Chariot playing "Madman running through the field" live in the background. That might be them just before too but I don't recognize the song though it sounds like Zoot's keyboard.
