I like it. The movie is obviously better, but this clip is a great excuse for you to get lost in the meaning and depth of the film. I'm sure Truffaut would 'dislike' this since he had a distaste for music getting in the way of drama (hello The Graduate), but I like getting different ideas about art and creativity and this clip is a great pot stirrer.
@spacegravity I think I was being somewhat facetious. But we should remember that film is not just about the images and that Truffaut almost certainly put very careful consideration into the sound scheme in this scene.
I'm not a fan of this combo, but of course I respect your right to enjoy it :)
To actually watch this video. I wonder what the actual background music was in the movie. B&S forever. That movie scene is very long... How the hell is B&S emo? Its so pretty.
The movie was okay. The original music wasn't that great. Just kinda background. And Belle and Sebastian can be pretty emo sometimes. How pretty it is doesn't matter; its what the songs are about.
@EthanFool what the fuck do you know about cinema? I will tell you I can see not much if you decide that this music can be pair with any of Truffants masterpieces

I came to this video by searching for the final scene to 400 blows because I wanted to see it again and it's so amazing. I saw "belle and sebastian" and thought this might be cool because I do like this band. I was very wrong. This is terrible. Now I'm sad.

This brutal -- don't try to redo a classic ... just not my cup of tea, I respect others opinion, however reading the comments above made me wonder if I was listening to the same background music. If I was a terror suspect, and the interrogation specialist wanted to get the secret plans out of me they would force me to listen to this background music over and over. I'd spill the beans half way through the second repeat. But if you like it I believe thats all that really matters.
i agree with you. i mean i just dont undertsnad what people get out of this. like cool you took a very classic and famous scene and put some emo song in the backround. what is so great about that?
oh! this is lovely. my friends and i paired this scene too with another song, Sea Legs by The Shins, it gives the scene a sense of vitality. but this is nice too, very melancholic.

You should be banned from putting this over Truffaut.

@spameister You shouldn't care if they put a song you don't like over this, it's still as beautiful as it is.
I love B&S, but if I didn't, I wouldn't be offended. Truffaut would still be Truffaut.

emo song? that's actually hillarious.
belle & sebastian were a 90's indie twee band.
if you'd listen to their other stuff, it's more about the lyrics. perhaps you'd like the other stuff, perhaps not.
