  • wow-so educational! the best video

  • Great video!!

  • If I just want to use it to paint on.... do you have to Kilz it?

  • SWEET JOB DAN, YOU HAVE RAISED SOME MORE INSPIRATIONAL IDEAS TO ME.

    THANKS FOR SHARING.

  • Thank you for sharing this! Awesome video! Best I found on the subject. You mentioned putting gesso on the canvas... would that get the fabric to rip when it dries since it is stretched so tight?

  • I just re-stretched my canvas based on what I saw and had much better results. Somewhere along the line I was taught to "wet the canvas" prior to stretching but that was making it almost impossible to get the canvas tight. Stretched it dry the second time after seeing the video with a very tight canvas. Thanks Dan!

  • @kmhutter :-) Glad it worked for you and thank you for the great comments!

  • Similar to my technique for stretching. One suggestion is to roll your stretching pliers over. You're using it upside down. That little square protrusion is used for levering on the inside edge of the frame. When you lever it down, you'll have a clear shot at the canvas with your stapler. Thanks for sharing...

  • These are the best videos on economy canvas preparation. Your process for doing corners is the only version I know of online that reveals the secret of great looking corners. With these nice smooth corners the gallery wrap rules. I haven't seen your others videos yet but plan to look them up. I hope you've done one on canvas for artists. Explain the different types and why the great price differences, etc. Thanks. Great video!

  • @biggestdigger Thank you very much:-) also look at this:

  • cool tutorial budy!!!!

  • What is the table top material? i'm assuming it's a diy alternative to a cutting mat?.

Regular Elmers' is a PVA glue, wood glue is also a PVA glue. Wood glue just happens to be more water resistant.

  • you cant use regular elmers glue. thats riduclous. nice try

  • Your videos are the best by far I have ever run across - I plan to watch them all at least once. I'm hoping you are still going to show the "green art ideas." If you two get your show, I'll subscribe to cable tv again. Until then, I haven't found any tv shows with great ideas that are CLEARLY demonstrated through completion. I like that you speeded up the video vs cutting - I like to see the whole process start to finish (even sped up)! THANK YOU for all your TIME and hard work!

  • Thank you for enjoying our videos.

I do have a solar zinc foundry project with the Berlin Wall I shot a year ago that I need to edit.

    Thank you again.

  • Thanks for this vid, its such a great idea to use drop cloth, my canvases are super,!

  • I wanted to put up the regular bladed wind turbine on my property here in the second windist city in the USA and I was told I needed 1 1/2 acres of land to do so. Since this about puts anyone here with a 1/4 acre with house in every neighborhood out in the cold. I am looking for an alternative that the code didn't think of.

  • Few more things, if you are milling your own bars try to avoid knots, even on these type of gallery-style bars (does not require expensive framing, you paint around the edge), as they are the first areas to break when moving your wall art(and likely tear your nice painting). Also, if you have a longer, skinnier canvas, you may need a center brace. In the future, please cover wall cleats and hanging hardware options, whether hanging a solar panel or a canvas, some of us are hardware geeks!!

  • Wonderful job, I am a CPF(Certified Picture Framer...I can add a few tips here if you don't mind. 1)make sure your glued corners are pretty dry before stretching canvas on with one screw point, your bars can twist on you, 2)learn to use pliers upside down in one hand while pulling, then staple with other hand using nose of stapler as extra holding/pushing power before you staple, and 3)any fine wrinkles can be made to disappear with a spritz each of water, then alcohol, and left to dry.Kudos!

  • Dude You must speak slow. I cant follow you becouse my english is poor. South america will be very happy. (^_^)

  • were are you talking about.

i am from holand an i can understand it.

    i i am just 15 at a low school.

and my english is also poor.

  • Not you! (^_^)

the guy in the video must speak slow to the third world receive the knowlege. we dont understand becouse he speak to fast. hehehe.

  • One day he will have one in Spanish not sure about Portuguese. In any case his name Dan for Daniel Rojas... I am sure he is multilingual.

  • If Dan speak slow, the spanish is not necessary. Here in south america we dont have english class in the school so, we learn english whatching movies but if the person speak fast, we lost the information. THe worlds is too much mixed and recognize this puzzle is hard. :p

I think a legend in the botton finish the problem. We could translate all new worlds and frases.
