Michael Brook's playing is just awesome here; it gives this song a new dimension. One can feel the waves he is creating with his infinite guitar flow through this masterpiece. Superb arrangement!
One of the best you Tube experiences so far . What a fantastic voice and the band , economic genious , and also the one of a Kind [ Robert Fripp ] guitar sound ! All creating a perfect ocean for David s voice
Now that's ART !!! and the best use of youtube !!! two of my favorite artists collaborating !!! and what a result !!! Thanks- Grazie- Danke- Spaceba !!! Music for the Soul !!! The images I got in my mind just listening to that .... what can I say but Thanks Dave, Robert and band !!! Kinda makes you forget all the other junk in life, and maybe that's the point !!! How could anyone be an aetheist after listening to that !!! LOL !!!
These songs have a unique feeling. It directly hit me deep. Sylvian calm low tone voice really make me dream and inspired me so much. That is poets music ...
@cpeznola Talking of unsung guitar gods, what about Vini Reilly of Durutti Column non-fame? Compared with Reilly, Fripp is virtually a household name! Hopefully, since John Frusciante of the Red hot chilli peppers proclaimed him the greatest guitarist in the world, (don't know how you go about determining that!) he will receive some belatedly deserved recognition.
Fripp tuned according to the precision laid before him by the musicians around him. The stick is an odd collection of tones Fripps supersonic jet propelled distortion sound requires a specific tuning to have that analog 70's tinge.
yeah, i'm only guessing on this song, but fripp is really into alternate tunings and temperings...it adds a certian "tonal astringency" LOL....Fripp has always been "dedicated to the proposition of hazard" or whatever that means LOL
Wow - Sylvian does not only play together with Fripp. There´s also Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn - that makes 3 quarters of the last King Crimson line-up. Great song - great musicians!
This is a god-given collaboration of 2 great artsists. Guitar of RF goes sometimes low-key and sometimes goes strong. It enhances the voice of DS and the depth of lyrics. I wish I were ther.
A soul-searching song ! Thank you for this posting. This live version is much more interesting than the studio one. Guitars and frippertronics here are their best with amazing variations on the basic motif by Trey Gunn and Robert Fripp ! Percussions are a bit flat and... underpowered. Mastellotto cannot play the same way as Steve Jansen (Sylvian's brother) does in the original song. Awesome posting ! Thanks a lot !

One of the reasons Damage is much better than the First day is because of Mastelloto, though he is not my favourite when it comes to Crimson....

I wondered about that as well, but apparently it is on purpose, sort of a tempering thing...sort of like baroque tuning

Sylvian has always sounded every bit as good live as he did/does in the studio. The man is
THE MAN. Question: I had several other collabs
(sneaky thieves, "borrowers" who don't return)
but he did this ambient music w/a czech. genius which I've been unable to recover or
remember. (Actally, several). Can anybody help
w/info. I'm truly freaking. Bad enough they got my ltd. edition leather case, 24kt CD of
THIS TOUR. I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE LOSS.
Help?
