OR if Bradley should have simply given up on the 4-4-2 without Davies, and reverted to a 4-2-3-1 with only one striker (not Findley, either Buddle or Altidore) and an attacking-mid or withdrawn forward.
Fans that don't really understand the sport as a player just don't get things like this.
The starting 11 for a team isn't simply a measure of the 11 best players, obviously. It isn't that simple. Bradley hoped Findley's skill-set could replace Davies' tactical contributions to the formation. He was wrong, but pairing Buddle with Altidore wouldn't have worked either, and just would've caused other tactical problems (namely, a pair of hold-up strikers don't compliment each other at all).

Kenny Cooper couldn't score against a Swedish B team. Edson Buddle is too inconsistent to be playing for the Nats. Altidore is playing now. tweakcompton YOU are so dam right. There was a goal on October 6th in 2004 Columbus vs. Chicago at Soldier Field. It was a free kick from about 35 yards. Edson kicked this ball that curved shooting from the left top of the box and ending in the net at the far right corner. It was shocking. ESPN featured it on their top 10. absolutezerocool you have to find this and post it. I sure would like to see that one again.

If he has his life together and keeps scoring goals he'll have to get called up. I saw his 2nd hatrick, it was better than his first. Interesting thing is Donovan and Buddle lead the league in scoring, but they've played about 4 games less than the other top strikers.

Buddle's one of the few U.S. player who has a killer outside shot. I think we need that on the National Team. I hope he gets a look during qualifying. We'll see if he can perform at that level. He's ripping up MLS right now.
I like Buddle and I think the ceiling of his game is much higher than Eddie Johnson. My only knock on his is his work ethic. For many stretches of games, I just don't see him hussle for the ball.

We have not taken him on contract, but have left the door open and may sign him in the future,
we need someone with prem experiance at the moment, so hope to see him back in the summer.
Shame because the tube clips show him to be pretty good, but the prem is another level alltogether.
