  • "btrfs":

what's the deal with the memory load?....on ext4 I use 690mb.....on btrfs my system use 1.4-2G?

on a fresh openSUSE 12.1 system....

  • Lose the radio mics, this is video not radio. Makes you look like douches.

  • Wow 5000 watch this 55 like this and 5 dont like this. O.o

  • btrfs killer feature over ZFS: ability to change the size of pool. Both grow AND shrink!

  • What do you think about this ? - I need your feedback…(it's running on windows -it's for children protection)

  • Guys, regaring to open society - DONT DO THIS.

    This is very stupid!

Because in order for this to work - EVERYONE should be truly open.

This is only possible with some kind of nano technology.

Otherwise, you are looking at USSR.

Look what would happen to Wikileaks host if he had no protection in form of unknown danger. He would go straight to jail and closed source goverment or lobby there would spread organized lie.

  • Solaris ahahaha!

Lol, I remember using it in 2000!

On thin Sun client connected to SPARC supercomputer.

    It was running KDE2 hahahaha!

  • Man-bear-PIG!!!! MANBEAR PIG. AL GORE WAS RIGHT!!!

  • Amazing how they have nice condenser mics, pop filters, etc. and they still don't know how the hell to give themselves a decent sound.

  • how about cutting the crap with the jokes and just stick to the actual things to get across? sorry, but i find most of the conversations presented very annoying

  • ZFS killer?

How can something that's effectively still in beta be a killer of something that's in production use in some of the most demanding storage environments on earth?

While I'm aware of the licensing issues that prevent ZFS from being integrated into Linux, the commentators did not provide a single argument showing BTRFS to be better than ZFS in any way except that it may be production ready for Linux...someday... ZFS wasn't even in the benchmarks shown. Seriously, use better titles.

  • @MagnusDredd I've used ZFS in a production environment, and it wasn't as stable as you might like to hope,,, we had it completely loose an entire raidz volume after a system crash at least once.

BTRFS doesn't compete with ZFS thou, because they will never be available on the same platform... so it's not really a ZFS killer, but when it's production ready it may facilitate Linux to compete on a more even keel with Solaris.

  • @lewiar Been using it since 2007 and never had to do ONE fsck.. That acronym gives me nightmares.. :-)

Never "lost" ONE zpool. Only thing Ive ever happened which caused issue is with exporting zpools.

  • @damoos Consider yourself lucky, there were a number of bugs in earlier releases of Solaris 10 which documented ways in which it was possible for it to loose entire pools... basically, since the OS was on ZFS that resulted in the entire system disappearing and needing a full re-install... ZFS is very good, but it's inception has not been completely without fault... not that I think that's unreasonable... BTRFS will undoubtedly have some kinks in the road when it's first marked "stable" too...

  • @MagnusDredd Zfs is the best filesystem EVER. Bar none. I have it in production use in every system and admin is easy. These lads dont really know that using snapshots, also cost space. Fine, bigger disks, no problem. But its still something to be aware of when modifying BIG files when snapshots are in place !

Btrfs, while it sounds interesting will not compete with ZFS for at least 5 years, if ever. Would of been nice to see a bit more respect to ZFS seen as they are "techies"

  • is that an eee 701. i just bought one off ebay (preinstalled with UNE). if so, have you overclocked yours (by defeault its underclocked to 630mhz out of 900)

  • my school use windows servers, and in it, we are told to copy the read only resource to our documents. the system of auto-symbolic links would benefit them greatly, but they probably will never switch to linux

  • if anyone is low on time they an jump aprox to minute 28:00 to view Btrfs section

else i recommend viewing full, great show

  • looooove the linux action show.

  • Uniq PC the ultimate porn machine.

  • WOW! Breaking Bad Bryan!

    Love it.

  • Bryans new look reminds me of patrick stewart when he has a mustache

  • Bryan hair cut was a bad idea.... You are much cuter and your sarcasism comes across better with the other look..... For some reason I am watching thinking Bryan looks like a skinhead meth addict.

  • Mirror the internet, lol!

  • um.... 20% of a billion dollars is 2 million dollars now????? What kinda school did this guy go to?

  • When I compiled my kernel, I had an option for ButterFS, but I didn't compile BtrSF support because I don't think it's ready yet.

  • As someone else said. I really just found you gusy through STOKED, I don't even own STO due to monetary reasons, but I still watch this and STOKED. You guys are just.. enjoyable :P
