  • woah, high B natural is intense

  • he actually almost cracks the high (horn) B natural.. not entirely, it sounds more like a scratch. but almost.. goddamn

  • lol cool white suits

  • can anyone tell me what is the high note?

  • Sounds like it goes from F# to Hi B natural

  • @fjess That's what I'm seeing. B Natural's a bitch.

  • B natural.

  • @classicalcreepster Where are you now?

  • @classicalcreepster you could call him a wimp...OR you could call him smart. Think about the other stuff that was probably on that program in addition to Shosty 5...

  • I believe Martin Smith was the horn player.

  • @mdlee52

That is Martin Smith. He and I were room mates at Juilliard in the mid 1960's. The Conn 8 D is the one I used until I changed to the 103 Alex. Martin died about 4 years ago in Pittsburgh where he had been the Associate Principle Horn for many years>

  • why he breath while the A real note (E writed) still sounding? I was dead if I had done that, oh it is New York Philharmonic, he can do it, not me ¬¬

  • i think the video is off from the audio, so it only looks like he is breathing at the wrong time.

this is a 1979 recording, and i think the horn soloist is Martin Smith (who filled in right after John Cerminaro left) on a Conn 8D. I'm not positive though.

  • The audio is correct, but the soloist use the assistent horn to play the E, to do the solo more easier.
