Nearly all of europe uses the 2 pin plugs, its only Ireland, Hong Kong and us in Britain that uses the square 3 pin connectors which are better known as British Standard 1363

But still though what an awesome gift that is, even in Britain, the Amiga CD32 is extremely rare and very pricey. If you can get that thing to work over there then fantastic, you've got yourself a gem of a system.

Actually, that kind of power plug is, as far az i know, is only in Great Britain. In other European countries we have a two pin power connector. And yes, we have 220 V. I'm from Hungary:)

deanos mad for sending you this, in a good way. he could of EASILY sold this at the moment on UK ebay for around £50-100. the prices of cd32s have gone much higher in the last year or so. he could of sold this and made a mint. and to think he found it at a car boot (very rare to find anything like this at car boots these days due to everyone selling on ebay) and bought it, and posted the bastard. it must of cost him a few quid without a doubt.

in japan and europe it was called the mega drive..i believe because of trademark, sega had to rename it genesis in the states.

Honestly no just recently traded, for an ATARI 7800! Now before you say WHAT THE HELL? Yeah that would be my reaction lol! But see I had and loved Amiga's in my day but I don't have a monitor that handles PAL and really I wanted to expand the CD32 but whenever I even found one of the expansion modules by the time you add shipping to Canada the prices got stupid.

In short, I didn't see it likely I would be expanding it anytime soon, I CAN emulate it and run most AMIGA titles in emulation really well these days. With emulation the PAL/NTSC thing is not an issue. I never had a ATARI 7800 so I look forward to experiencing that! I can slowly pick up carts here and there, apparently it is one of the earlier revisions too so it does not have some of the incompatibility issue's later versions had with some 2600 carts. CD32 will be a nice addition to your AMIGA!

Wow that was sure nice of him to send you all that stuff. I'm pretty sure in Canadian hardware stores, they should sell adapters that can adapt foreign plugs to the local power imput. I noticed it was from the UK which has 3 connecting pins, the rest of Europe uses a different system to us. Hopefully if you'll look around in hardware or maybe office stores you should find a UK/North American plug adapter. Good luck.

Commodore released a previous CD machine - the CDTV. Basically an Amiga 500 without a keyboard, although you could expand it into a full Amiga 500 (CBM also did a CD drive for the A500). The idea was that it could handle multimedia CDs, Karaoke CDs, etc and that was in '89 or '90. Now, seeing as the A500 was technically 32bit internally, does that make it the 1st 32bit console?

Didn't have a CD32, but I do have a CD drive for my A1200, so I got to play CD32 games. Chaos Engine was brilliant. Arcade Pool which you have there is another excellent game.

Only the UK uses 3-pin plug sockets! The rest of Europe uses 2-pin plugs but still has the higher voltage of 230 volts, an example of this is France.

That CD 32 looks mint. Its a pity David Pleasance and what was left of Commodore UK couldnt buy the company as they had big plans for it. The RISC computer they were developing before they ran into trouble looked really promising.
