The portrayal of black women in the media was intentional and deliberate, and some black women will actually emulate the actions of those BW. Most of the time, all of the drama and attitude is grossly overexaggerated. Women on shows like Judge Judy and Maury are actually paid by the show or they recieve free air, trip, meals etc. for being on the show. The portrayal of black women in the media was intentional and deliberate, and some black women will actually emulate the actions of those BW. Most of the time, all of the drama and attitude is grossly overexaggerated. Women on shows like Judge Judy and Maury are actually paid by the show or they recieve free air, trip, meals etc. for being on the show. The media creates the image (black bitches ad thugs) and people who watch do as they see.

Most of you won't take notice until all the white men and women are screaming for the brown sugar. There won't be as much brown sugar because of the shortage of brown sugar people. The "MEDIA" is a FOR PROFIT business. IR couples SELL far better than BM/BW relationships.
There's no difference between "The National Enquirer" and CBS/NBC/ABC, etc... They give the public what they want.
Therefore, you guys need to get off of the CONSPIRACY bandwagon. Even though portions of the MEDIA create the "NEWS", we as CRITICAL THINKING HUMAN BEINGS are not forced to buy the garbage that they regurgitate!

You're right about a lot that you said here. But I don't see this as an IR issue; it IS an IR issue... but I see it more as a BW issue. What I mean is, you see all kinds of wives/girlfriends in the media... except for Black wives/girlfriends.
You damn near have to be the President's wife in order for a Black wife to be shown in a positive light (or any light). I'm not sure if this is done deliberately though, however I wouldn't put it past anyone.

Yeah, seeing IR couples may be more profit but you can also admit that it is harmful to the image of a strong black bond between a bm/bw! I see pictures with black couples and kids and the kids look like the wife been sleeping with a white man. As people we just need to get away from the media. That's why I don't watch tv anymore. I just watch a few things on youtube. Youtube makes you think. Television has useless information.

Unfortunately, the so-called "strong black bond between bm/bw" does not exist in today's society. If it did, then IR couples would be a NON ISSUE.
In California, it is commonplace to see kids looking "like the wife been sleeping with a white man." Is it the media's fault?
My point is that we (black people) cannot blame the media for the deplorable conditions of the black community and dysfunctional relationships between BM & BW.
Television is "useless". Let's focus on us.

It's just that this IR stuff is not really healthy to the self image of blacks especially over the reasons we already know about. If you black you already know. Yeah, the bond is still there. In fact, I think the turmoil that's going on between BM and BW right now is a testament to that bond.

This doesn't upset me at all. The media shows a lot of black women with white men as well. Everybody knows that the majority of black men love white women or very light skin women.
A lot of those NBA players don't want their wives being shown off by the media! That's why you don't see a lot of the black wives.

Now, sure... I get what you're saying about players and their privacy (I think that's what you meant, if not please clarify), but I'm sure that a lot of players WITH non-Black wives didn't want their wives being shown off either. Yet, they get shown a lot more than Black wives do.

This was a quote by Eriq LaSalle from ER. I am so proud of that brotha. This video reminds me of that situation. LaSalle's character had tumultuous one-dimensional relationships with Black women. The writers gave him a white love-interest and it was, as LaSalle inferred, functional and well-explored. This prompted the Black actor to ask the writers to end the interracial relationship, which they did. Deep, huh? That's the definition of My People, My Priority.

I have rarely seen a black basketball player with his black wife shown on t.v. But I know that the majority of these black men are with black wives. The media is appeared to be run by the "people of power". I don't even bother to watch tv anymore because will usually end up seeing the subtle, subliminal message that white is right/or better... Stay away from the "idiot box"

However, the kind of BW who would constantly accuse successful BM of "upgrading" to other women ...she's usually single, unhappy and looking for a reason as to why.
