He was into sports: He coached the football team at CSD Fremont for many years, he was asst coach for basketball and he was referee for many high school basketball games. But he was probably most well known in the Deaf world as a FUN and terrific golfer. The "Gil" you are talking about was Gil Eastman. My brother was Gil Lentz.
Yeah, I heard about that in structure class. There's also a facial expression which means "I know that already" or something like that, without even signing the phrase.

When i went to Sri Lanka it took me a short bit to realize the head nod from side to side meant YES opposite of what we do here. Glad the British didnt try to ban the head nod there
