Dana White has done some good things in building the sport. He does put together some great matches, but I can see why a mellow dude like Fedor would be put off by him. No matter if Dana feels he's a great fighter or not Fedor still has brand equity in the sport and that is worth dollars. His name on a card sells seats, PPV and advertising spots. This is in Japan. There is where SHOOTO organization (which is older than Pride or UFC) got its name. Many Pancrase stylists practiced shoot and catch wresting styles such as Ken Shamrock. These styles emphasized wrestling control and use of submissions along with basic punching and ground and pound systems. Luta Livre, while very similiar, has no lineal roots in shoot wrestling and was developed indepedently.
This is very evident in Japan where modern Show Wrestlers are highly revered

as athletes much more so than they are in the United States. Show wrestling uses hybrid styles too, for example, punches, kicks, submissions and all sorts of throws are all "legal". There are even many crossover techniques from shoot wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Luta Livre etc. For example, The Undertaker used a Gogaplata from guard as his signature move for a while.
While one is "fixed" and one is not, the differences between shoot and show wrestling (and hence, MMA) are not discerete.

Personally I wouldn't co-promote either. It makes no sense to say "If you want me to fight for you you have to share your promotions with my company." Dana wasn't trying to bring Fraudor in and market him, he was trying to bring him in to answer the questions.

Though he lost in his first fight, he stayed through the show and worked his ass into the ground. That hard work earned him his shot. It was only two fights, and we all see how it ended up. He was fighting horrible fights (Tank Abbott, need I say more) and then gets knocked out by a UFC washout. Dana said Kimbo's only way of making it into the UFC would be to go through the TUF series. He DID go through the TUF series. Though he didn't win it, he still put in the hours and dedication to training and developed some legit skills, thus earning his shot.

It's not just him coming in, fighting one or two guys, and then walking away. He may walk into the UFC, get a win or two, and then leave, but that'd be the same thing as his wins back in Pride. McCain was the driving force to try to get it banned, and when the UFC started working with the athletic commission and imparting rules, that all changed.

Werdum was only 2-2 in UFC, Lesnar was 3-1 and champion. big deal. 1 loss separated them. I read everything u said, and its all lies tangled with a little truth here and there. Andrei wins his last 2 UFC fights, when did winning make u a wash out?

@jasonpeak82 Arlovski won his last 3 UFC fights, and Werdum was the biggest name he fought. Neither one would engage and fight. They had to be warned by the ref that if one of them ran away they would be penalized.
Try figuring some things out for yourself. You're using the same worn out ammunition that all the other UFC-hating Fraudor fans use. If Fedor wanted to fight the best, he should've gone to the UFC. Any respect that he had from any knowledgeable fan or fighter went down the drain.

Arlovski terrorizing the heavyweight division when he faced Fedor, with 4 straight wins against big names he was beating Fedor before he made 1 mistake, I like UFC, but there is other good fighters that could compete with the best UFC has to offer.

there's nothing phony about the injuries he sustained during his fights, if the competition was weak it's because the sport was outlawed much of the time he was pro. Pride at 1 time had better fighters than UFC, Shogun, Rampage, Legends Sakuraba, Fedor. Pride had crazy no weight limit matches, Japan pays fighters better, Dream is the new Pride, just him fighting in the U.S. is going to be a step on in competition,

@jasonpeak82 Pride did have some fighters who were better than some UFC fighters, but it still remains that the majority ended up in the UFC. Their no weight limit matches were stupid. There's no need for people will such huge weight differences to fight, and their pay rates don't bring anything into the equation. Ali isn't the best boxer in the world, not today. He was the best during his time, but not today. Ali has become a legend for his constant fighting of elite competition.

@jasonpeak82 Sorry to burst your bubble, but Valavicious, Nagata, Hunt, TK, Goodridge, Fujita, Lindland, Hong Man Choi, Zuluzinho, Schilt, Ogawa, Sylvia, and Rogers are nowhere near the best in the world. Try doing some homework yourself instead of listening to all the things people on YouTube say about Fraudor. Fedor had some good wins against Cro Cop and Nog, but not much is worth mentioning aside from that. Greatest of all time? That's a joke. Pound for pound best? Another joke.

Choi is 7'2, 350 pounds, has anyone ever fought a man of that size? Choi is so big, he picked Fedor up of the ground with 1 arm, defending an armbar. Also it's virtually impossible to knock out Choi, still at that size Fedor still managed to find his chin, IF FEDOR HITS LESNAR LIKE HE HIT CHOI, BROCK WILL BE TAKING A NAP.

@jasonpeak82 The media has been the one pumping Fraudor for all these years. People finally started catching on, save for the small pockets of mindless fans, and the media kept him pumping. Nobody has any respect for him anymore, not the ones who look past the smoke screen of his record. Everybody has said "fight in the UFC Fedor! fight against the best!" and he hasn't done that. You don't get to be the best in the world in minor leagues. Hate to break it to you, but he's a phony.

@jasonpeak82 I suppose you don't know anything of how much Fedor was offered to sign with the UFC. SF doesn't have the same money as the UFC to pay Fraudor. Again, do you know what takes place in the contract negotiations, or do you just take what other haters are saying and use it as your own?
Choi had no place fighting. Choi was turned away from the korean army for what I believe was a petuitary tumor. Choi was in no place to continue fighting with such a condition.

Fedor made $400,000, same as Brock in his last fight. M1 Global is a legitimate league that he has partial ownership, he's responsible for other fighters as well. If he fights in UFC, he deserves a split 50/50, instead of sharing a small percentage like Carwin.

@jasonpeak82 Why does he deserve a 50/50 split? The UFC isn't his company, and a fighter has no business trying to take a chunk of the revenue as a contract term. What if the UFC was wanting a 50/50 split of M-1's revenue for letting Brock fight Fedor in StrikeForce? What sense would that make? It's a game, nothing more. Fedor can't hack it in the UFC, and by co-promoting, he sets up a parachute to still make money for when he ultimately loses.

Fedor has his won company, why make UFC tons of money when he has his own league, with fighters, Fox has made M1 Global apart of their company hosting MMA events here in U.S. lol its hilarious that UFC is hosted by a man station appealing only to young males. Spike TV has some of the trashiest shows on T.V. its a funny joke.

His couple of wins against top competition in Pride doesn't even scratch the surface of calling him the best fighter in history, people need to wake up out of that fantasy and get with reality. Now with him fighting nobodies, it should be obvious to any educated fight fan or fighter that the best will fight the best. Real fighters take the tough fights, politicians go the easy route.

@jasonpeak82 He lost because he lost. Werdum is considered the 2nd best heavyweight in the world because of idiot fansites and MMA reporters who wouldn't know talent if it broke their head in half. Cage fighting is no different than ring fighting in MMA, aside from takedowns from the fence and getting back to your feet off the fence. There's not a whole lot of difference. Risk losing credibility? You should get your head examined. Come off the bandwagon of UFC haters and get your own insults.

Cro Cop made the mistake of not training in a cage and not working elbows, they were to him and he suffered a devastating defeat because, u must know nothing of fighting, U must have followed Lesnar over from WWE. go watch you UFC unleashed for the 1,000th time.

Again, you've taken the same insults all of the other people have used for the UFC not letting their fighters fight in other organizations. The UFC has the best fighters in the world, and they know it. If someone who claims to be a top fighter doesn't want to fight in the UFC, they move on.

@jasonpeak82 Look dude, Dana was gonna allow Fedor to compete in his sambo competitions, was gonna pay him an assload of money, and yet he still refused because of the co-promotion. If I remember correctly, it was Fedor's management who made the call. Do you know why they wanted to co-promote? So they could make money. They make a percentage of the revenue from him and then the UFC still has to pay him on top of that. What sense does that make?

How is UFC going to pay $20 million plus another $5 million to 1 fighter? that's not true, Look Shane Carwin is one of the UFC's top heavyweights, he makes $40,000. good but Lesnar makes 10 times as much.

@jasonpeak82 I imagine after his dealings with Lesnar, Shane's worth will increase, but I've read in several articles of interviews that Shane really doesn't care much for what he's paid, that he just loves to fight. Different things are taken into account in contract negotiations, and you obviously don't care to look past the things that Sherdog and InsideMMA tell you. Fedor was offered a great deal, and because the UFC wouldn't co-promote, he denied.

Dana has done more for the sport of mixed martial arts than Fraudor has by a very huge margin. What has Fedor done? He competed, he partnered with M-1 Global, that doesn't mean anything. Fedor has done not even a hundredth of the work Dana has done for the sport. Get a clue.

Dana White made fun of Kimbo Slice when he lost in Elite XC. but first chance he got he signed Kimbo because he knew he could make good money off of him, he put him in the video game, Dana White is like Don King, where as Scott Coker is a gentleman, not a lying prick like White
