@thehungryduck I know, right? especially when it was Radiohead that came first with their sound, THEN Coldplay. Radiohead were huge influences on Coldplay.
@thejerseydude I'm a fan of both (MUCH MORE SO RADIOHEAD, HENCE I'M LISTENING TO THIS) but they're different bands. The Bends doesn't sound like Parachutes or the Blue Room EP, vice versa. Different moods entirely.
@BrokenBassBin no, they don't. but... i don't know. it's just this stadium-singalong-thing... which radiohead usually don't have, event if they do stadium-singalong-tracks. hard to explain.
@BrokenBassBin Denial much? It's not just the piano and you know it, even if you won't admit it. There's a definite similarity in the inflection of Thom's voice here, which is even more obvious on Open the Floodgates.
Course C. Martin copied Radiohead's sound in the first instance, so the way I see it, it can't be a BAD thing.
@LantaGem I really don't hear it. I don't get the Coldplay hate to begin with, but this song sounds nothing like Coldplay. Don't accuse of denial please.
Anyhow, I've tried my best to explain what it is about this particular song that's similar, sound-wise, to that Other Band who can't be named in the same sentence as the great Radiohead... so I guess we're at an impasse. *shrugs*
this is by far the saddest song thom yorke(the prophet) has ever written

honestly, the chords of this song reminds me of some of Tori Amos quieter songs (versus comparing them to Coldplay).

Love it. CP is to Radiohead as Oasis is to Beatles.

don't understand... even as a huge radiohead-fan... this sounds A LOT like a coldplay song.

@degriis Coldplay have a monopoly on piano songs now do they?

Don't we realize we are all here to dive and we're out of here?
We're just skirting on the surface
We have only to click our fingers and we'll disappear
We're just skirting on the surface
Dull lies try to pull you through the ice
Being drawn to the ledge
When we realize the world's still broken nothing mends
We're just skirting on the surface
