HAHA I was at the Cinema, I was watching Monsters INC, and the THX came on intro. IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOO LOUD! It was vibrate the seats, and my coke was shaking!!
THX certification depends upon sound format used and quality of reproduction. It means you should find the sound superior than on non-THX DVDs. The THX sting may be annoying, but it means you're getting fantastic sound!
Still prefer the UK series 1 startup animation! It rocks! Tivo comes hurtling down a slide and there are loads of colored balls bouncing around, its awesome!!!
God d--m, they gave up their cool animation to freakin' THX! I hate every DVD that makes that damned super LOUD thing come up before the movie. And even if they change their ways, it'll still be on ALL thise DVDs we already have, pissing us off every time, hating THX even more.
As if THEIR sound was more important than anything else in the movie! Get a life guys, I couldn't care LESS who/how made the sound. What an ego. Worse thing George Lucas ever approved.
You are kidding yourself... You would be unwilling to watch the movie with all the sound off and with only the dialogue via 'closed captioning'. The sound is more important to the integrity of the movie than to know the names of the gaffers, dollies, and honeywagon driver. The technology behind DVD and digital sound is directly responsible for the success of the industry. Let the developers of THX receive their audio kudos.
Bull! '...digital sound...behind the success of the industry'?? Not! YOU are kidding yourself. You must be in the industry to be self-clapping your back. Nobody gives a rat it was THX. They wouldn't go or buy the DVD if it was JUST Dolby or plain stereo?? "Honey, let's go to a THX 2nite!" Not! They go because of CONTENT or advertising hype. DVDs are successful since they're more convenient than tapes. THX didn't RECIEVE a kudo, a 'kudo' is something someone GIVES you, not trumpeting it yourself!
I vote for a longer THX or DTS intro and to cut all the credits down to a 'visit this web link if you're interested to learn more about the creation of this movie'. Besides, how otherwise would your neighbors with inferior sound systems know when you are about to watch another movie ? How else could we invoke their jealous rage ?
This one is verry lame

Hmm, similar on the newer ones, but, in my case, I just hit the button to skip it.

Never used a TiVo, but judging by the videos on here, TiVo has a nicer interface. Sky's interface still looks like shit!

Anybody noticed the suggestion at the bottom of the main menu about the CBS show "THE CLASS"? That was a funny show! It's too bad they canceled it!

I believe the THX music is from an Alan Parsons Project song intro. Scared the sh*t outta me everytime I saw it at the cinema as a kid.

Not all DVDs have a THX trailer and certification. A bunch of Universal DVDs play a DTS trailer when you select the DTS track on the setup.
