  • beautiful voice but your taking away from the song when you run so much an then they sound unsure because you thinking about it just et god use no need to impress the people hun sing for god

  • I had to have watched this at least (literally) more than 50 times already and right now, instead of enjoying the song, I'm trying to wrap my mind around how ANYbody could actually dislike this..?! ... ... you know what, it's all good, we all make mistakes.

  • im dead serious when i say this comment. Folks can say what they wanna say. but the tribe of Judah had to be BLACK FOLKS!!! because God put in us to praise and worship. No other race on earth sing a praise the way black folks do. music is in our BONES and thats real. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOVE IT

  • Great song!!!!. Can anyone breakdown/ or know what are the soprano's, alto's and tenors are singing at the ending?.. would especially love to hear from some of th original members of this awesome choir...love love love this version!.

  • She sang that song :) praise the lord!!!

  • Very Nice Voice but She done ran away with the song. Did she run to get her crown? O_o

  • O MY LORD JESUS! Lord have mercy that was awesome glory 2 God!

  • omg the ending. love it love love it wow

  • She's running away from the song!!!!! Nice voice tho!!!!

  • @montgomb3....she did just fine. She didn't take away from the choirs presence and she had great passion.

  • She's over doing her leading part. She needs to calm down some, overall the song is good.

  • MYYYYYY GOD!!!!!! SANG IT YALL AND SHUT UP TO ALL U HATERS!!!THEY GAVE GOD THE GLORY

  • I love it. Great choir and great solo. Musicians did an excellent job.

  • That girl can lead a song!!!!

  • i love this song. they song this at my moderators funeral and i cried so hard.

  • Overall excellent however I must agree with the consensus waaaaaay too much running! Every word does not need to be filled with a run! This is a timeless song which speaks for itself and any additions should be subtle and in sync. Soloist has an awesome voice, and with a little adjustment could really be an amazing addition to this song! Just a thought!

  • Very nice solo version of this awesome song.

  • This is the song that the choir sang @ my fathers funeral :)

  • this is good but the lead was doing to much........ it's good just clean it up some

  • my gospel choir learnt this today, it's stunning

  • We have thousands of profiles about girls naneedj.info

  • OMG OMg omg>>>>THANK YOU JESUS....MMMMMMMMMMMM

  • The choir and the ending is the bomb!!

  • I LOVE THE ENDING WOW

  • Choir was great but the leader was kinda over doing it. but in the end good job.

  • @adrain880 I disagree!! I think she did a VERY good job!

  • @olamar08 well everybody is entitled to there own opinion i didnt say she sounded awful i said OVER DOING IT! thanks.

  • @adrain880 ok Negative Nancy :)

  • @adrain880 Hmm Kinda agree with you too. She didnt sound bad but too much of a good thing is still BAD. the RUNS were nice. But she over did it in this song. This song is meant to have that Church groove. Sometimes simple and sweet is GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just a little bit too much runnng! But it is very nice and she can sing! I just think the running needs to slow down... Flow with the song. God Bless You all

  • Just as soon as I get home... This song holds so much power.

  • Powerful, but the leader could have backed up some to let the choir be heard a little more, yet powerful.

  • I like this...the musicans are BADDDDD!!

  • This song was sang at my grandmother's funeral last year. How fitting it was, because she was a praying woman of God and I KNOW that she is now wearing her crown.

This is such a beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. The soloist has an amazing voice.

  • I've heard this song sung well BUT this rendition; all I can say is my my my UAB! this needs to be recorded AS IS cause you guys left your own personal mark on this one!!!!!!! simply awesome!

  • I have chills after watching this video...... UAB yall did a very good job.... Put me into tears....

  • This is THEE most powerful rendition of this song I have EVER heard!!

  • This song makes me cry.. They played this song at my 5 month old nieces funeral with a a mime dance and placed a crown on her casket, We miss you Lesse! Your home now with your crown.

  • omg this gave me chills!

  • ILOVE THIS SONG

  • i personally feel this is a beautiful song but the leader killed it for me with too many runs in the beginning

  • the lead sound like beyonce to god be the glory for this song but i honestly feel like you should get your own style and dont run thru the song let it minister to the crowd ..not one of them songs you riff n run ..this is a classic BUT ITS SOUNDS GOOD ALL TIME FAV. SONG SANG CHOIR!!!!!!!1

  • I MISS THIS CHOIR...LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

  • Let the choir sing!

  • rarely does such beauty and power emerge and with such impeccable balance.

anointed composer, singers, musicians and directors

  • rarely does such beauty and power so effectively and with such balance.

  • they sung that song

  • this is a beautiful song. and i agree, it needs to be recorded

  • I love this song. It ministers so beautifully.

  • THANK YOU JESUS!

  • yes!

  • Beautiful

  • Beautiful

  • Yes we shall!!! Yes I shall!!! It is all worth it!!

  • go ahead and let the lord use you

  • she's over doing it

  • you have to feel the anointing of jesus when you hear this song

  • A choir sang this song at my friends funeral, and it near about tore me up. It was the perfect song because she left behind three wonderful children and she'll one day be able to tell how she made it over. We need to get ourselves together yall. I will wear a crown! Glory! Ooo Jesus!

  • @fashionboi2007 @fashionboi2007 My friend died last wk. She was pregnant w/her 3rd child & left behind 2 more. They played this @ her funeral & this song broke me down, but also gave me so much encouragement b/c she was such a wonderful & spiritual person. I prayed that there's a crown w/her name on it. I miss her, & despite her not being here I still believe God is still good b/c her pain is over.

  • @fashionboi2007 I first heard this song at a funeral too. It was this January (2011). This beautiful lady at my church left behind three kids and a husband. They actually placed a crown on her heard as this song was sung. I cried my eyes out. lol. It was a funeral fit for a queen.

  • awesome....simple as that

  • The University of Alabama - Birmingham

  • who is UAB?

  • BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA BABY!!!

  • i want to be there to feel that song

  • Thank you for posting this song..it brought tears to my eyes!!!!!

  • i love dis song!

we sang it at my church!

  • wow!!!!! i watch this almost everyday. and go in everytime...!!!! the lead is a beast,,,, and the choir is sicknen...

  • Souinds GREAT!

  • That was HOT! Songs like this, written waaaaaay back in the day, STILL get the job done! Yall were amazing! Kudos!

  • Is there anyway for me to get an audio recording of this performance. This is the best version I've heard.

  • PRaise God for young people giving their gifts to God, thats all that should matter. not weather or not they sound good but that their worship is real and thats its directed to God, when this girl sings she sing to GOD.

  • @hottgame17 Amen! Preach and Teach!

  • why do we focus on the singer instead of the message? The song is truly anointed. We as Levites have to stop listening to vocals and focus on ministry. Of course we must not come to God with trash, but focus on ministry and you will never fail. I like the video.

  • Nope the beast ain't finished. This video is a couple of years old. This director has brought this choir and the lead singers up to a level that not seen much in university gospel choirs. Although they have several CDs out, he remembers the pioneers and has these kids sing songs that were written before they were born. Even so, they rock the house and perfect & perfect & perfect. So back off some of you Simon wanna be's. Giving grades like you own a music school. Find a sorry choir to criticize

  • I still LOVE you guys. Love you when it's handful and love you when you have ran out of room on stage. The GospelBeast does get a little irate when reading some of these mean comments, so the GBeast tries not to visit as often - cause I'zzz tells it like it is. What burns me up is when people mention diction. It's recorded on a cell phone camera fool! How much diction can AT&T capture on a cotton-picking phone. The when you go to their church choir wining like cats, the beast gets gas really bad

  • This is my song. That ending...perfect

  • Great Job Marquita...You know that you have done an outstanding job when the HATERS are still HATING 2 YEARS Later. To gospelodmac I see you decided to inconspicuously let everyone know that you have taken an elementary music class and know a couple of musical terms; we have a GREAT rather OUTSTANDING director so therefore your critique was not needed nor desired. But Thank you anyway. I like the way your tried to hide your negative comments within your perception of a compliment. That's Cute!

  • Thomas Whitfield wrote this song in 1984, but it is too close in harmonic structure and occasional melody to Henry Mancini's "The Days of Wine and Roses", an Oscar-winning (secular) song from 1962. Listen to "Roses" here on youtube, and you'll see what I mean.

  • The lead vocalist was a bit overkill but she still sounds good. Great Chior

  • wow the second she started singing I got chills!!! Bless his holy name!!!!!!!!

  • she sounds good but she is overdoing it with all the runs and kinda getting in the way of the beautiful harmony in the song

  • oooommmmmgggg i love this sound..my church had song it o easter sunday and i had to look it up on herw..and the first one i had found was this one...and wwhwhhhppp jesus did yall bless my spirit....ekkk aaahhhhhh

  • nice job U. A. B. Gospel Choir!!! What does the "U. A. B." stand for?

very good arrangement. put more emphasis on diction, tonality, and dynamics. Diction deals with pronounciation and clarity. Tonality deals with volume and over/under singing. Dynamics deal with styles (picasso, meso picasso, forte/meso forte, vivacci, legato, staccato).

Overall, I give the choir (scale of 1 - 5, 1 being superb, 5 being poor)

    I give the choir a 2 - Excellent!

  • amen

  • whyspeaktou, you are a waste of time! Now that was true and that wasn't nice and I could care less you cracker jack critic. You must of been born on the SAbbath when God was taking the day off. You jerk!!

  • lol, ok whatever if you think that sounds good that speaks a lot about your standards in music. But hey some people just don't know any better. thats just how you were raised i guess. Never the less much love to the choir, and i would love to hear them by themselves.

  • i got in the spirit at 4:45 when yall got 2 the "soon as i get home" part of the song, but then the soloist REALLY got me at 6:05 w/ that falsetto!!!!

  • Good job choir. Can anybody put me in touch with Minister Arthur Beard? I heard he attended UAB and also played for this choir. This young man has a dynamic ministry. Does anybody know if he does music workshops? Any information will be appreciated.

  • Arthur played for us and graduated from UAB not long ago. You can find him on myspace, he has a really nice group called Elements of Worship. Contact info is on that site.

  • Stood up and waved my hand and yelled, "YALL BETTER SANG!"

  • Hi. Could someone tell me how to get in contact with UAB gospel Choir's sponsors/advisors. Thank You. Glod Bless.

  • kevinpaulturner on youtube or uabgospelchoir . com

  • Greetings from the Ham! :-) Send me a personal message via youtube and I'll get back with you. Grace & Peace!

  • I get the chills everytime I meditate on the words of this song..."I shall wear a crown...I will see His face..." Hallelujah! The choir truly sang this song. Their voices were so angelic and that soloist! Whew!

  • She sounds wonderful!!!

  • I am a huge fan of the late great Thomas Whitfield and worked with him in Texas a few times while working for Bishop Noel Jones. He really appreciated it when musical entities could duplicate his original compositions to the "t" and loved it when they were embellished and interpreted. Yes the Internet is a place for critiques and criticisms as it relates to hard-core traditionalists,a important point to remember is that his music lives on..sometimes as-is & sometimes as presented.I love em both!

  • OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! Hallelujuah praise him, praise him, praise him. I shall wear a crown

  • home girl kill't it. OMG.

  • That's my number 4!! Sing Frat!!! I love it!!

  • Sang, Marquita!!!

  • Dats it!! Yall sung dis song.. tha lead wus on point she kilt it.

  • Done very well..Yall saaaaaaannnngggg!!!!!!!

  • You all should hear Patrick Riddick & D'Vyne Worship sing this.

  • Right..it's on youtube.

  • I don't know how anyone could leave a negative comment about the leader or the choir.....they ripped it.....for real.

  • I think the only thing that the person was saying was that in all of the vocal acrobats, the message gets lost. And when that happens, you're nothing more than "sounding brass, and tinkling symbols".

  • Co-Sign...U dont play with a song like this....This is WHITFIELD...SING the SONG if you gonna SING it!

  • Well no message was lost here vocal acrobats r not, they did a marvelous presentation from start to finish.

  • aww for yall info shes sayin i shall where a crown repeativly when its all over i shall see his face amen thank you

  • I'm quite sure this was a very annointed performance, but please does someone have a better copy?

  • Where is this? When is the next concert?

  • I can't understand what she is saying for all the riffs and runs!! When are we going to stop trying to overdue songs and sing it so someone can hear the message and be healed? I am so sick of these Kim Burrell sing-a-likes! Be yourselves people! Amen.

  • I agree, we have completely made it about self. Not sayin that she didn't sing this, cause the girl is bad. Just needs to sang the dang song!

  • a beautiful, anointed, and blessed song when done right. get it girl. i sing this song a lot. God Bless you
