Great acting, dancing, and mime from gorgeous Gunn--and of course his singing is purrrrrfect, plus a great speaking voice, this being a singspiel, predecessor to our musical comedies.
Watch the entire opera on DVD or PBS-TV, though. It is astonishingly creative and beautiful. And I loved the witty, sly translation. They did a good job with the Masonic symbolism, too.
0:26-0:57: Did anyone notice that the handle on the prop bells wasn't turning until Nathun Gunn turned it on? He managed to do it without anyone noticing, he's good ^__^
sorry I'm an old fashioned stickler... and The Magic Flute should only be done in German... and it should be called Die Zauberflote.
