SN: this honor guard is SLOPPY... almost dropping the casket?? and hitting the mockup? and what was that business with the flag? (not to mention a zillion other things that i caught as a civilian!) work on it guys
@icecreambounces For one vault lid seq is the hardest to do. Usually we do not have female bearers, This does not look like an active duty guard.... You have very little time to prepare sometimes almost none. If you don't do it, don't critique the ones who have to.
@pholmes6975 being a civilian doesnt make me and invalid judge.. they were extremely sloppy. if they are going to take the time out to do it. DO a good job. its disrespectful to the fallen to look that BLANTELY un-prepaired. like i said.. they hit the mockup.. almost DROPPED the CASKET.. clean up or dont do it.. the families deserve more than that. train them better.
@pholmes6975 yeah funny cus this all came from someone in the USAF Honor guard (which is not a BASE HG but the nations).. sooo whom is uninformed again?
Hope you're trolling buddie because I'm in a base honor guard and believe me that's a base honor guard, air force honor guard is way sharper, right now there are no females in it, and their uniforms are slightly different, I just met some AF honor guard members two nights ago. Not to even mention AF honor guardsmen that do this are ripped because they have to carry the casket.
@luckofheirishlp firstly no im not trolling. secondly, if your base HG is this sloppy they need more practice, i would DNIC some of these people! and we are talkin about BASE honor guards.. like i said sloppy. hits the mockup, almost drops the casket and the flag fold was god aweful. no excuse.
@icecreambounces i agree very sloppy, starting from there mark time... they were all noticeably stomping the ground when its suppose to be silent and through out the whole detail they were heal clicking.
I'm currently base honor guard at Dover AFB. I know for a fact no base honor guard NCOIC would allow his guardsmen to march over a headstone like these guys did. Someone needs to make sure the current team down in Fort Sumter is up to speed on proper procedures.
No way orthodox whatever your freakin name is gets the last word on this. God bless those you left behind, brother in arms. I know you willingly took an oath, and you became one of the few called to carry it out at the cost of your life. Darwinist, if it weren't for men like this, I can guarentee your right to troll youtube and make your hate filled statements would have been taken from you by someone a lot bigger and meaner a long time ago. Thank God for the guardians of freedom.
I am an American Airman. I am a Warrior. I have answered my Nation's call. I am an American Airman. My mission is to Fly, Fight, and Win. I am faithful to a Proud Heritage, A Tradition of Honor, And a Legacy of Valor. I am an American Airman. Guardian of Freedom and Justice, My Nation's Sword and Shield, Its Sentry and Avenger. I Defend My Country with My Life. I am an American Airman. Wingman, Leader, Warrior. I will Never leave an Airman behind, I will Never falter, And I WILL NOT FAIL.
i'm glad someone put up a video of a real hero's memorial service. michael jackson don't have shit on this guy. this man has done more than any "hero" in society's eyes. god bless and rest in peace. i did not know you but you are my hero.
totally off subject but i used to live on shaw afb in sumter, sc. i was born there =]
As a brother in arms, I am truly sorry for your loss. I want to think your father for his service. You and your family should be very proud for a hero like your father. God bless him and keeps him in comfort always.
Stupid idiots shouldn't have been fighting in an illegal war of commercial imperialism that killed nearly a million innocent Iraq civilians in the first place. It is their own fault. They should've used their life to contribute something positive to humanity, not to contribute to its decay.
If you are being paid to kill foreigners for oil companies, you have accepted the risks, and if you fall it was your own fault!
As a brother in arms, I am truly sorry for your loss. I want to think your father for his service. You and your family should be very proud for a hero like your father. God bless him and keeps him in comfort always.
@elvra1 you are correct in that the tradition came from the civil war, however they did not fire a 21 gun salute, nor is the rifle salute at a funeral a 21 gun salute. They fired three volleys and the salute performed during military funerals is called the 3-volley salute.
@BryanAllaire123 I hate to be a dick, but no funeral is a good funeral. This is a Dad, a son, a brother, a cousin, a nephew, a uncle. This is no place to be a macho man and act like a complete dick towards a person who served in The United States Armed Forces. Treat this video as hallowed grounds and conduct yourself with dignity and respect at all times.
The guard in this ceremony did an immaculate job. My grandfather, a full rank colonel, passed away last month. For his militry honors, I requested that a friend of the family, who was an enlisted airman, present the honors. He had never done a ceremony before, but the Air Force honored my family's wishes and he presented the flag. They made a few mistakes (I've seen many honors before) but it ment so much to have someone who knew and cared for my grandfather preform such an important task.
@yutaja The tradition of the salute comes from the Civil War because both sides would have to remove their dead from the battlefield. They would call truce by sending a messanger and firing a 21 gun salute. The salute is not meant to remind the deceased of the times of war, but instead to instill a sence of peace and truce, to finally lay down all arms and have a time of solace. If you have ever seen a salute in real life, you would know it is one of the most moving parts of any ceremony.
