Once you have disarmed them and you have the gun, if you shoot them then you are commiting a felony. Because if they don't have a gun they are not a danger to you any more, says the law.
@HoShinRyuMaster Ever heard the saying "I'd rather be tried by 12 then carried by six"? if you take the gun away from someone, but unless they throw their hands straight up or run away you shoot if they try to fight back, besides if you have evidence to support they where mugging you such as they have papers (for the gun) or a criminal background ground you have a 95% chance of no fine imprisonment.
I don't doubt that these techniques are all effective (I don't trust my elbow enough to make the last one work, personally,) but why worry about lawsuits? Worry about the law when you KNOW your assailant can't hurt you anymore. You don't KNOW that he doesn't have a backup weapon and you don't KNOW if he's all there in the head.
on the law thing, I agree, because even if he is an attacker, still the person is HUMAN and it is unfair to attack the person after he is incapacitated or neutralize. You can say it is lawful to attack an incapacitated person when you yourself is not psychologically able, Since aggressiveness, intention, etc. is driven by psychological factors.
This guy has never been faced with a fatal weapon IRL.
If you can move your arm from resting position to disabling position (~.5 seconds?) faster than he can pull a trigger (.2 seconds?) and are lucky enough to make it work, you aren't going to use the moment to completely disable him? Then he is going to beat the shit out of you and kill you.
Use fatal, unrelenting force on anyone that puts you in a death position -- until you know they can't hurt you or threaten you again.
As usual some one is assuming they know me. So for your information have been in real combat and have faced a lot more guns then you are assuming. I have also been in the martial arts for over 53 years so I feel very confident in my skills. If you are going to make such statements you should know whom you are committing about. I have taught police and military in my 53 years of training, what experience are you bringing with your statements?????
I have 10 years of martial arts training and have worked as an instructor, but that's almost irrelevant.
The relevant experience is that I have been on the losing end of this when I had NO weapon myself, and when the assailant knew I did not have a weapon. Not exactly the same position a military or police officer would have.
You've been an opponent but I doubt you've ever been a victim. You mentioned you've been in "combat". This isn't combat and that is my point.
Well just so you know I have a purple heart and I would never consider myself a victom or weak and if you continue re-living the pass you will always be the victom. Do not let the past control your future and I would not put something on youtube that would not work. But I would say never try this if you don't feel you have the commitment to go through with it.
My use of the word "victim" is only in the sense that one guy has a weapon and another guy doesn't. Not a weak mindset. If you go into this setting with a weak will, you are going to die (and I would be dead). Arnold Schwarzenegger could be a "victim".
I'm not accusing anyone of anything, I'm just saying that no one should worry about the law if they are in danger of being killed. You are certainly right that a proactive position must be taken and I am not disparaging your technique.
I agree w/ Nick on the point that just because you took the gun doesn't mean he doesn't pose a threat anymore. Maybe you're 50 yo, 150lb guy and you just disarmed a 200+ lb 22 yo guy. I would knock the guy out possibly with the butt of the gun if I was able.
What do you do if the guy has both hands on the gun? I can not remember ever seeing a gun disarm where the gunman was using a proper two-handed grip. They all seem to be demonstrated with the shooter pointing the weapon with one hand, arm fully extended, within easy grabbing range. Is there a reason for this? Is there a technique for disarming a two-handed shooter? Thanks.
Nah joking, the best way would I guesse be to get out of the way and hit them at they're center of gravity (below chest) if hit hard enough I guesse it would sort of stun then where you could put them down then take the gun away?
Excuse me, but if I just disarmed an assailant succesfully doesn't that mean he could disarm me back, my next instinct would be to shoot him.
